I arrived at 6:30 am, had some coffee and breakfast. You can go there, work a bit, you can use their WiFi and the taste of the food is amazing. They have a fruit cake that is pretty amazing you should try it.

The Eastern Block has always been a favourite with its absolutely delicious food, fantastic coffee and lovely owners. Aside from the standard brunch menu, they have homemade pastries like borek, gozleme and muffın. The cafe has outdoor seating and is naturally bright inside. It's a family-run cafe where everyone is extremely friendly.

Oh yeah, I'll be visiting again for sure when I'm in Melbourne. Such a cute little cafe, beautiful, kind service and such a tasty menu, different to typical breakfast menu selections, great to see. Chilli srambled eggs was very good.

Nestled in a corner in Bell St you’ll find The Eastern Bloc, a turkish cafe. I love coming here. The food is amazing, the cafe experience is very relaxing. It’s near the Coburg Station and the small park/pathway so it has nice view if you sit near the glass window.

The menemen is a must try!! Make sure you get it with sujuk (if you’re not vegetarian).

The nutella gözleme is nice especially on days when you feel like satisfying your morning sweet tooth craving.

Their coffee is amazing, you can tell they take their time for every order despite the morning rush for coffee. Cappucinno creamy and their iced mocha is refreshing (atleast for me).

Definitely try and visit! Owned by such lovely people. You’d love to be a regular here!

What a lovely, one of a kind cafe! Coffee is excellent, muffins are so fluffy and soft, the best I ever had, and borek and cheesecake are exceptional. Everything is daily baked and so fresh. The best thing is they have a catering service as well. Great opportunity to have fresh and delicious food for small parties.

Breakfast @The_Eastern_Bloc for a relaxing cup of chai latte and a poppy seed bagel with smoked salmon, cream cheese, baby spinach and tomato. The chai latte is laden with spices, pouring it via the sieve to get 2 cups of the lovely aroma laden chai. This was enjoyed with the delicious bagel creation which is a satisfying way to start the weekend.

Visited again for lunch. @The_Eastern_Bloc is a cafe serving some dishes from southern Turkey, one being manti - a Turkish style beef ravioli in a yoghurt sauce

These are small little parcels with a slightly chewy mouth feel encasing beef and immersed in a yoghurt sauce which is a little odd due to the sourness. However, a little bowl of chilli flakes is present which when sprinkled over the top makes a big difference. Very tasty meal and something completely different to anything I've eaten.

I also picked up a cheese and spinach borek for takeaway which was delicious, lovely flaky pastry, lots of mixer feta and spinach, great combo.

Another visit for breakfast - Menemem:
Turkish baked eggs, home-made tomato sauce, mild green pepper with garden herbs. Also got the optional sucuk and a Vietnamese coffee.

Freezing cold outside, the warm inviting venue is just what I needed. A tray with a glass of ice, dish of condensed milk, and a pot of coffee is presented to assemble the Vietnamese coffee as I like and it is very enjoyable.

Next breakfast is served piping hot. The baked eggs are delicious in the capsicum and heb mix. I love the Turkish bread which is great to dip in and soak up the juices but also becomes very filling. The sucuk is shaped like chorizo slices but is the Turkish version of their own salami like cured meat. It's different to anything I've tasted before and thoroughly enjoyed with the eggs. Awesome way to start the day!

Love this place!! Perfect for brunch or lunch. They have the best coffee in the area, and the food is super delicious. The bright atmosphere is great for getting some work done as well. The owners are the nicest, warmest couple I've ever met, they always make their customers feel at home. Their menu has many options with some unique tastes like borek, manti, gozleme and cilbir. Great go-to local spot just right next to Coburg station.

I have attended this cafe weekly for 9 months with a group of Mums after a nearby baby class. The owners are so welcoming and lovely to us. The food is always great! As a coeliac they are easily able to cater for me and the coffee is really good too! We love this cafe and always look forward to catching up there! Thanks Eastern Bloc! 😁

My family and I go to Eastern Bloc often for lunch, brunch and coffee. Both the food and the AllPress coffee are great (as well as lovely friendly staff). They also have smoothies and yummy home made muffins.

There is a wide range of dishes available from toasted sandwiches, pide, salads & eggy dishes plus breakfast rolls. They’re all homemade and delicious. I especially like the homemade borek and gozleme.

I’d totally recommend this cafe. It’s a lovely family run business, always welcoming and family friendly. Inside and outside seating for all weather.

This is my nearest local cafe and thank god for that! Best coffee in Coburg, fantastic dishes (menemen is my go-to, my husband has a borek or gozleme at least once a week) and always the warmest service. The definition of a family-run cafe, I always feel at home here. It doesn’t have the hipster menus of the other spots around here, but everything is delicious and made with love, can’t ask for more than that.

The spinach and cheese borek at Eastern Bloc is the best I've tried in Melbourne. It's homemade with delicious pastry and filling. The borek keeps me coming back every Saturday. The coffee is outstanding too, as are the people at this family-run business.
