Malay Chinese on Lime

I use to eat at the Hunter St branch when I was working in the CBD. Now during Lockdown this establishment is delivering their tasty food to your door - give them a call to see if they deliver to your suburb. The Laksa is probably the best I have ever had and my kids love the Hainan Chicken Rice and Chow Kway Teow noodles - with a bit of careful plating at home it is just like eating there! Highly recommended!

I was so sad to find that my favorite Malay-Chinese restaurant was closed due to some of their staff succumbing to Covid. I wondered the city and scoured Google Maps in search of anything that could compare. To my absolute delight, I was saved! They have TWO locations! I walked from their Hunter St location, past many other laksa places over to Lime St and could not believe my eyes when I saw the same name, exact menu with the same low prices! This spot was like Hunter St 2.0. Nicer furniture, softer chicken in the laksa AND they take eftpos! About 10mins walk further than my regular Malay-Chinese but really good to know it's there should I find myself in need again.

Such good laksa and everything else. Don’t taste a difference to the Martin place location which is a Sydney CBD corporate lunch institution at this point after so many years. They’ve started to serve this out of takeaway containers due to COVID unfortunately so it seems like there isn’t as much as the normal portions. Personally for me, it’s enough if not more than enough but I’d imagine for a big eater they might be missing the old bowls.

Malay Chinese is absolutely my favourite laksa in Sydney!! The original place on Hunter Street is still busy as always, but I go to Malay Chinese Lime Street more often as it slightly less busy and has more seats (I've found out recently that there are heaps of seats upstairs!). I've taken my friends who work in CBD here too and they all loved the laksa from here. The only very small thing is... they currently serve the foods in disposable bowls and cutlery due to pandemic. Portions are still generous, but I hope that they'll go back to normal bowls once the pandemic is over.

Hands down the BEST laksa I've had since Hunter St! All the staff are always friendly and welcoming so will be coming back many many more times 😋 Keep up the good work boss! 👍

Best Malaysian place I've been to in the Town Hall + Wynyard + Barangaroo areas! Don't be detered by the long lunchtime queues - their quick service means the line moves fast and you will receive your food very soon after ordering. Very reasonable prices too, especially considering the area. Particularly recommend their char kuay teow and char hor fun.

The restaurant is crowded with rush hours but it is worth the wait.The food has its own flavor, especially laska and fried rice with spacious, clean space, good customer services.

Great ambience and variety of food in the heart of CBD. A huge thumbs up to the friendly staff as well who are always welcoming and accommodating.

If you like Laksa... Fried rice is just average
