This bar is truly one of Brisbane's best. The cocktails are intriguing, and the whisky is a must-try. The atmosphere is classic and inviting. It's a place where dressing well adds to the experience, which is not typical in Brisbane.

Excellent evening spent at Death & Taxes. Absolute top notch service and quality cocktails. I was ordering classics and they made everything I asked for.
I got a perfect Stinger that didn't taste like toothpaste, a Gentian and of course a Don the Beachcomber classic.
Great atmosphere, great place to visit.

Ended up here the other night after my friends Birthday dinner, seeking a nice cocktail to end the night. Death and Taxes did not disappoint!
The service there is friendly, professional and accommodating. The staff are very knowledgeable and made some great recommendations. Yes the drinks are expensive, but worth every penny because they are exquisite!
Beautiful decor with old-fashioned ambiance. The brick bar, bluesy retro tunes, well presented staff and stylish antique decor gives a very posh 60s club vibe.

Atmosphere of this place is fantastic! The service given was great, with waiters being prompt to serve and kind. Cocktails ordered were full of flavour and you could clearly tell they were very good quality. Overall a great choice for a drink with friends or date night.

Such a beautiful moody cocktail bar. The atmosphere is just perfect and 100% worth the visit. Not only do the waitress attend to your needs and are very omtop of customer satisfaction and hydration the bartenders are very skilled and knowledgeable. The range of cocktails here is brilliant. And some superb flavour profiles also. Not just your stock standards like margs and cosmos. Quality cocktails blends made by professional mixologists. I am so pleased with the service we received here. And the attentive staff who are also so friendly. I will definitely be coming back here when I next visit Brisbane. Fantastic place for a drink or five. We were three people and got seated at the bar as elsewhere was full.

We got really good service and the mixologist/bartender knew his stuff. They all seemed professional and nice, and were really attentive.

Our group ordered whiskey sour, amaretto sour, godfather and old fashioned - all were really good. This place is highly recommended.

Beautiful place to relax and have a nice drink after a long day. The barstaff are wonderful and the venue is beautifully decorated with a classic vibe. The cocktail menu has great variety so I would suggest having a look online before visiting and their Whisky selections are also extensive. Overall I would visit again.

Such a delightful experience, the staff are highly skilled at their craft. They had the ability to align scotches to my personal preference. I found an exceptional new drop called banded and Australian made whiskey from SA, The vibe is one of a kind and adds value to the overall experience. From the music selection to the aesthetic and lighting, if you haven’t been it’s worth a look. I sat at the main bar as I was solo travelling for work, watching the staff take so much care and attention to detail while making cocktails for other guests was a whole experience in it self. If you haven’t been you won’t be disappointed GO! It’s hidden down a lane way and a perfect hidden gem 💎

What a great find! I did my research and wanted to check out this venue. It looked like a great spot for a balmy winter evening. The hostess at the front seated us at the last two seats which were a bit tucked away and not a great atmosphere but came to us later and asked if we would like to sit at the bar as seats became available which was very thoughtful of her and much better atmosphere /able to get a full view of the fantastically designed venue. The place has a warm and homey feeling and the bartenders are all experienced. The cocktails are unique and the menu is laid out like a story-book. I would definitely recommend to anyone and we will be back next time we are in Brisbane.

Went to Death & Taxes for a drink after dinner last night. This place is awesome. Located in a little back street in the centre of Brisbane, this place offers a simple nuts offering of cocktails and other alcoholic beverages! Drinks are priced as expected but really worth it. Keen to come back here and try some more! All in all would highly recommend!

Loved the atmosphere here, and our bartender Issac was phenomenal. We had an amazing experience watching him create our drinks. He made us a lavendar old-fashion-amazing flavors! Death and Taxes is such a cool and trendy place to swing by for a drink. Loved it!

My favorite bar and favorite bartenders ever! Oh and their drinks are something else🍸 a whole new level that is classy yet contemporary! The atmosphere is superb and the service is 7 stars 🙌🏻

A great hidden gem right in the heart of Brisbane, tucked away in a laneway.

A significant selection of whisky and other spirits, a good selection of craft beers on tap, and some great cocktail offerings.

The staff were accommodating and friendly and were extremely knowledgeable in assisting with drink selections (especially the whisky).

Sitting at the main bar is an experience, watching the staff use some interesting techniques and tools while making cocktails.

The vibe is awesome, with a welcoming decor and music to match.

My one minor point is that the downloadable drinks menu (via QR Code) is hard to read on phones without having to zoom in and continually scroll between names and prices.

Highly recommend a visit!

Finding somewhere for a drink during the day can be tricky in CBD as not many places are open.
Luckily Death and Taxes was open for a post shopping cocktail.
Cocktails were great, service was good. Would return.
