This is one of our favourite spots to camp when in Alexandra. There is a stunning view of the river. It can get busy so get in early.

While on the way to Lake Eildon on 15 July 2023, we stayed overnight at this campsite in winter, in an amazing, peaceful spot. As Everybody mentioned, this is a small campground in an oval shape, that can accommodate only 3 vans/caravans with an adequate distance. There is a drop toilet, absolutely clean and odor-free. Advisable to bring your own firepit. The running river is next to the campsite but the camp place is at the top and the river is running from the bottom side. However, in peace, you will hear the waves of the river. Secondly, the river is just away for 4-5 minutes of walking distance. The morning view is amazing, good to spend some quality time beside the river in the daytime. Overall, fantabulous place. I must say, you guys must visit once.

A lot of people complain about the dust and one "non-flushing toilet". Wow. Wanna glamp much?

Here is what my father calls a "RAG opinion - Rough As Guts".

This place is not the best but not the worst either. One toilet is sufficient for myself and my partner, along with other users who come and go. There is the river close by and there is a nice view overlooking it.
Lots of shady areas to choose from, space is a bit limited, but I was only 1 of 3 vehicles to have stayed here at this time, so we weren't close enough to see eachother from bed.
Easily accessible and the sounds of nature are very pleasant as well. All in all a good spot.

Really good spot next to the river to flick your line and have a couple as the sun goes down. Drop toilet and plenty of space. It’s free you can’t go wrong

May be hard to find a grassy spot for the tent if it gets busy (but still possible). In all other aspects just an amazing free camping. Short walk to a river canyon nearby.

Nice and quiet free place. Enough grass patches for a small and a cute clean wooden toilet.

Great location for free camping, thanks to the position with near the river, also it is the home of a big Wombat!
Cons: because it’s near the river, it gets full of mosquitos and in the morning there is a lot of humidity, also it lacks of picnic tables!

A welcome stop not far from town.
If you are lucky enough to get in early there is one spot that gives a great view of the river . A clean long drop is available . There is a short walk down to the river and a few great fishing spots along the river bank . If you are prepared to walk another 500 mad are an avid trout fisher it shows good results .

Quiet little green spot. Checking out the tracks down to the river is a must. The other side of the river and the camps there are more accessible to the waters edge but we were able to dip our feet in on this side too and had our cheese and biccies after a long day on the bikes

Easter weekend was rather quiet here which was a blessing. Free camping with drop toilet. Suitable for all vehicles even for caravans. But camping on solid ground only so have your mats ready. It very dusty everywhere you walk around camp so you'll be breathing it alot. And if it rains, it will be really muddy. The side of the camp area is a 90 degree drop down the gorge with light wire fencing, so children & pets be wary. No campfires allowed here, Parks Victoria comes to check so try to leave the place how you came upon it. Better to bring your portable bbq & have a small fire in that on cold nights. Don't risk a fine, make sure your fires are completely out & don't risk a bush fire. Other than that, Walk down the path & you'll reach the Goulburn river but still has a high ledge makes fishing tricky. No where to Drop kayaks here (better off going for a drive). Kids don't have much to play here but the views are nice & they entertained themselves with picking up pebbles around camp. 5 mins from town of Alexandra which is a lovely place to shop in.
