Gretna Green Hotel

Over from SA and spent a night free camping out the back.
Very welcoming owners. Had a good pub meal and a few drinks.
Locals friendly and talkative.
Publican and his wife were very good people and consequently we were the last to leave the bar.
Not experienced in free camping but if it was all that easy would do it much more.

The pub here is pretty cool and cozy, but the best part of it is the owners, they’re the nicest people we’ve met in Australia so far! They welcomed us with drinks and food (they even gave us free dessert to go), and we had an amazing chat with them. We just wish we could’ve spent more time with them as they were awesome! We will definitely be back next time we’re in Tassie.
Honestly if you’re around the area, you should check their pub!

Always a great experience at the Gretna Green. Good, honest pub food and always great company. If you want to feel like you've always been a regular even if it's your first visit, this is the pub for you.

Just a great little Aussie pub. Interesting old sandstone hotel, circa 1830s I think, good honest pub grub, and the beers are cold, but the welcome is warm.

Been around the world and never seen a pub to rival the Gretna green! Great representation of true Australian culture. Brad the pub owner is a true gentleman and very welcoming.

The best service, food to die for, and plenty of it. My rump steak covered my plate with chips and generous salad for $30. Best value anywhere. Such a relaxing atmosphere with friendly hosts, I seriously can't recommend this place enough.

Great pub and camping spot.

Camping just at the back and is free for use! Everyone in the pub is so friendly and like a big happy family.
Their beer is so good!! If you are selecting between campsites, just come here!

Drive from Hobart today not only it is stunning beautiful Thursday drop in to Gretna green hotel. For lunch .staff and bar staff is wonderful and friendly. One of best burgers I ever had

Perfect for a drink with the locals and the food is amazing. It ticks all three boxes. Fairly cheap, big portions and tasty. The cook is amazing. Probably the best lamb shanks I've ever had and the parmy is big and juicy. The bar staff are friendly and fun too.

Have been here a couple of times great pub meals generous serving, great atmosphere, very welcoming can eat outdoors if you want, will keep going back as I enjoy the chilled out atmosphere and welcoming vibe from staff and patrons......also dog friendly

I was driving between Queenstown and Hobart last night and feeling pretty tired and hungry. I saw all the lights on and all the locals at Gretna Green at the Heartlands Hotel and thought I'd drop in for dinner. I was immediately greeted by the two guys behind the bar and instantly felt welcome. I found a seat, ordered food at the bar and didn't wait long for my parmy to arrive. The setting is cosy and welcoming, all the staff were amazing and made me feel welcome and happy and the food was awesome. I regularly take this drive from Hobart to Queenstown and back for work and I will definitely be back.
