Henschke was our first stop and was by far the best tasting experience over the weekend. The wines are outstanding. The space was lovely and our guide (I think her name was Jodie) was wonderful. The tasting was over an hour so make sure you have time to really enjoy the experience.

Accessibility: easy ramp access and both high top tables and lower tables. The accessible bathroom was one of the nicest I’ve come across and certainly was the nicest over the weekend. Parking lot is not gravel so thumbs up 👍 from me.

My friend and I had the most magical wine tasting experience here today. Jody was extremely knowledgeable about the Henschke story and the wines. Thank you for a great afternoon - such a beautiful and historic cellar door experience.

I was here with my wife and good friends from California who are avid wine drinkers.
We tasted some of the best wines during our wine tasting session.
Service was friendly, warm and caring.
We also learnt about the history of the winery from the beginnings to the present sixth generation.
We will definitely be back if we are in Adelaide.
Thanks for an informative and beautiful experience.

Beautiful location and decor. Fantastic friendly service. Catered for my pregnant wife who wasnt drinking! Very informative descriptions or the wines, the history of the winery and family. Delicious tasting flight. Definitely worth the lighter wallet!

You can't go wrong with Henschke!

Admittedly, I was a little concerned that, due to the reputation and price point of Henschke, that there could be a lot of pretentiousness. I am so thrilled to say that was not the case at all.

Classy - yes! But so friendly, so knowledgeable, so welcoming! Kerry gave us a history lesson on each wine, adding to the love that I already had for the wines.

The wines speak for themselves, but the experience of going to the tasting room should not be skipped... You won't be disappointed!

Fabulous wines, cellar door and cellar door experience!

We popped in today to do a tasting and had a fabulous experience. The cellar door was redone a couple of years ago and really is a standout. The staff were very attentive and provided an excellent overview of the wines, the vineyards and the business overall. They even provided an activity kits if our kids!!!

A strong recommend from me!!!

This cellar door might be a bit far away, but offers a great variety of wines and a window to South Australia winemaking history and legacy.

Jodie provided interesting information about each wine and incorporated history with wine profiles.

Overall, this is a must visit place.

Had a brilliant experience at Henschke. Aside from knowing how to make some of the worlds best wine they know how to look after guests extremely well also. Right from the moment we walked in the door Olivia made us feel very welcome and gave us an excellent tasting experience. Paying the extra for the 'Henschke Distinguished' tasting is worth every cent. This is a must do if exploring the SA wine region. Well done Olivia and team Henschke

We love wine. We love the taste, the aromas, how it works with food, bringing out the best of both…. the whole experience

James was looking after us for the tasting. Clearly a wine nerd, (a good thing) and made sure we knew anything / everything about what we were being shown.
Without “getting in our face”, he imparted background gems about the wine, and shared our passion for wine / food / ceremony.

The whole experience was impressive and understated. The wines are aren’t the cheapest, but they are great expressions of the varietals and blends, so well worth experiencing.

Please give Henschke wines a go - you won’t be sorry.

This is the best cellar door ever! I’ve never experienced this before. The only place where we were served perfectly nice and we could learn the history of Henschke winery from first Generation in 1803 by Johann Christian Henschke to sixth generation. The lady who served us for wine tasting was superb! Very attentive, very nice, well everyone was very nice and friendly there. We will come back again with some friends. Thank you so much 😊

Very lovely wine tasting location. Wide range of wines, from something easy to start the conversation to wine with generations of history. Very great service and experience was definitely remarkable. I’ll definitely visit again.

The hill of grace tour was unbelievable and is a must do! From the very beginning Ashleigh was caring, informative and delved into the Henschke family history.. it was beautiful to be able to visit our favourite winery and experience all the best that the winery has to offer. We were lucky to meet Stephen and Prue who are amazing human beings and was awesome to hear about all the innovative things they have done to produce exceptional wines over the years. What a way to celebrate our honeymoon! Thank you for a memorable experience.

We had a private group wine tasting in November as we were visiting from interstate and Tyson was our sommelier/guide for the whole experience. He was so knowledgable about all the wines and gave us such an in depth tour of the family. He accommodated all our requests and was just lovely! Thank you

I have been to many wine tastings in many regions, incl Australia, NZ, Europe and USA, and this was definitely the best cellar door experience so far.

It started off as a disaster. I booked tasting for self and some friends for 10am Saturday. But - my Friday night plane to Adelaide from Brisbane got cancelled due to weather. They put me on another flight the next morning but that wasn't due to get in til 12 (ended up arriving closer to 1pm).

As soon as I landed I was told that one of friends just tested positive to COVID and that couple couldn't go anymore.

Henschke were not just kind, polite and accommodating through the whole ordeal - offered to move our tasting and refunded the $ for the couple who couldn't make it.

Then, the tasting was an absolute delight!! We did the Distinguished flight as I know and love their wines and wanted to try something special.  All the wines were fantastic - hard to pick what to take home! Our host was knowledgeable about the wine making as well as about the history of the region, and kept us on teh edge of our seats with her stories.

She was also kind enough to charge our phones for us and gave us recommendations where to get food after.

The cellardoor setting itself is beautiful and a pleasure to hang out in.

A holiday that started very badly was saved 🥰

Thank you Henschke! I'd give you 6 stars if I could 🙏

Henschke was one of the most visually pleasing cellar doors we've been to! The tasting room looked amazing with a cellar behind glass doors. The pitched roof and exposed beams were really astetically pleasing. Just being in there made is feel very bougie!
The server was very informative and gave us detailed explanations about each wine we tasted. She was engaging and answered all the questions we asked her! She really knows her stuff!

If you are visiting Barossa valley, it is definately worth the extra 20 minute drive to visit Henschke!

We booked the Hill of Grace experience and were blown away. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and the two and a half hours we had together were very interesting, while being relaxed and well structured. The tasting was delicious, we highly recommend the whole experience, thank you for a beautiful morning!

Henschke needs little introduction being one of Australia’s best known wineries. Our group of 4 people did the Hill of Grace experience which was simply STUNNING. Our host was fabulous and knowledgeable about every possible detail of the family history, locations and wines. We were driven up to the Hill of Grace vineyard and walked among the century old vines, learning about the viticulture. Then back to the winery for a thoroughly comprehensive tasting experience, including a generous tasting of Hill of Grace. This 3 hour experience is worth every dollar! If you love being immersed in the stories of wine and place - and enjoy fine wine - you will love this experience!

There are few other names in Australian wine that make one pay attention like Henschke's does.

They craft some of the finest wines in our beautiful land from a catalogue of different varietals. As you progress towards the pointy end of the wine list it becomes very clear that Shiraz is King here.

The iconic Hill of Grace is pure Shiraz. So too the Hill of Roses and Mount Edelstone.

The thing I love about Henschke is they do things a bit different. The wines all have names. The style is attached to the name, so every bottle has a story to tell. With 5, coming up to 6 generations of Henschke winemakers, there are plenty of stories to tell indeed.

There isn't an average wine in the entire list. It starts with a bang with the Eden Valley Riesling, which is superb, and goes onwards and upwards from there.

The standout for me was the Mount Edelstone Shiraz. Perfection.
The surprise was the Muscat of Tappa Pass. I'm not particularly fond of sweet wines, but this gem hit the spot so I highly recommend it.

The cellar door is beautifully restored, perfectly blending the old with the new. It is truly a stunning venue. A nice touch was being taken to the cellar room where the wines are stored and having the wine you purchase packaged there and then.

I cannot recommend Henschke highly enough. It's an absolute must for any wine enthusiast or wine lover.

A return visit is on the cards, to hopefully partake in the Hill of Grace experience. Watch this space.
