Went December 2023

Ordered the toastie or focaccia can’t remember but the smell of the bread ended up lingering in my hands for the whole day as the bread was fresh

Milkshake was pretty standard but sweet and tasty

Pie was amazing, the meat tastes different and better and the pastry was golden and crunchy

Food delicious. One of the best sausage rolls I have ever had. Jelly slice was yummy too. Staff very friendly and fast service. Prices very affordable.

The Pastry is absolutely divine. We were both totally happy with our visit, the food was delicious, coffee rates up there too, plenty of outside space to sit, staff and locals sitting have a coffee, very friendly and up for a chat.
Will be returning to Chiltern for the Bakery again, pay a visit if ya in the area.

History is alive and well in this cafe. Lots of nice nacs, great coffee and food. Well worth a stop off the freeway to refresh at hiltern

It's such a delightful place to stop and have a cuppa and a snack.

Sadly we arrived at closing time (3pm on a Tuesday), but that did not stop the cafe staff from being really great to us.

There was a huge range of store made pies, sausage rolls and pasties as well as cakes.

In the end, the porato pie won for me, while my bride had the cauliflower and broccoli pie. Yep.. it sounds evil, but she said it was just beautiful.

I even spotted a Malteser cake...

The staff were.just brilliant and friendly.

Where... main street of Chiltern. About 24 min south of Wodonga.

A perfect place for a rest stop on the Hume between Melbourne and Sydney.

How to get there. Take the Chiltern exit, but keep the speed down as the 50kmh zone is close to the highway.

Toilet. Arriving off the freeway, there is a park on the right, next to the swimming pool... toilet on the left. Plenty of parking, including a couple of caravan spots. Main street is parallel parking.

Fuel. There is a servo in town. (Closed weekends) Nearest next is the big BP five minutes down the hume towards Wodonga.

Quirky sight. As you get to the stop sign about 30m through the intersection is a house with steel flowers in the garden.

The main street has knitted decorations for the festive season. That in itself is worth the trip. One of my photos has a knitted Angel and Santa on the crossing bollards.

Open 6am to 3pm seven days.

Would I go back?
Hell yeah. This was my third trip... we did a 400km round trip just to go there.

Three different pies and three hot beverages, all served with smiles and friendly conversation. What else but 5 stars for service, atmosphere and delicious tasty food. This will be one of our regular stops to NSW from now on.

I did a little shop here. Sandwiches were so fresh. The jam ball donut tasted sensational. I took a carbonara pie home for dinner that I enjoyed and a few slices all tasted yum! I look forward to returning.

Great pie selection and nice coffee too

Best meat pie 🥧. Great pastry and the filling. Very hard to find a place like this. Must visit. Prices are reasonable.

If you are not a local, it is worth the drive. Fantastic food, great friendly service and love the atmosphere.

Nice bakery, good sausage rolls & sandwiches.
Not a fan of the plastic wrapped cutlery though, seems unnecessary.

Pasties first rate. Dog enjoyed his party pie. Bee sting yummy and stopped myself from buying 1 of everything on display, which all looked good. Good service with a smile.

Just ate a yummy hot jam donut and coffee. I will be back.

I'd say it was pretty good, family of 7 and nan and pop, served well, great food and excellent coffee

Lots of seating options and pleasant staff

Dropped into Chilton bakery on our way to Melbourne, great service friendly staff and delicious hot pies. We tried curry pie, steak & mushroom and plain pies - all fresh ingredients and completely satisfying (halfway through an 8 hour drive).

Coffee is consistently good and I can vouch for the cinnamon or chocolate donuts.
