Ordered the 6 mixed oysters as an entree. Was an interesting way they were done, but probably wouldn’t order again, and would just order them fresh.
We also ordered the Caesar Salad with squid. This was nice dish with a twist to your usual Caesar salad.
Also ordered the grilled crayfish which was also nice.

Recently visited The Cannery and was thoroughly impressed! The steak was cooked to perfection, complemented by the most delightful chips. The seafood linguine was a flavorful journey, showcasing the freshness and quality of the local seafood. The view from the restaurant added to the overall splendid experience, making our meal not just about taste but also about enjoying the scenic beauty of Dunalley. Definitely a must-visit for anyone looking for top-notch seafood and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Fried seafood platter

😊 Just look at that clean fried color meaning that it must be tasty. Well consisted seafoods with slaw and sauces to add the flavor. Plus the glass of beer to maximize the happiness. Personally the fired prawns were the best, which were juicy and sweet.

We had the best lunch here. What an unassuming but stunning place to dine. Laid back charm with great service. Have the oysters 🦪 The special oysters with pickled onions & dill brand new and not even on the menu yet) topped our list and were recommended by our waitress. Also the marinara pasta, seafood chowder and carrot cake. And the best coffee I’ve had in Tassie 💙💙💙 Best service too 🥰

NY’s day —We enjoyed fresh Crayfish & seafood tasting plate & seafood chowder — delicious! Coffee served with smarties was cute touch. Staff friendly polite and service is fast considering the place gets smashed with family groups. Waterviews, clean amenities happy family vibe— definitely one of the best seafood meals we’ve eaten in Tassie! And they were open on New Year’s Day! Now that’s great service!
We booked a table!

What a fun and relaxed little gem! Nicky (aka Beth) and Sarah were very welcoming and had awesome sense’s of humour. We dealt with Nicky the most and she was fun and it just made our lunch so much better.

Our food was beautiful, and me being a non seafood person went a good old chicken parma - honestly the best i have ever had. Hubby had fish and said that it was lovely.
We sat outside on the deck, a wee bit windy but great views.

The service was absolutely amazing sat us outside also told us to keep an eye out for the local seal. We didn’t see it so they told us where to go once we finished eating to find the family of 3.
We ordered the squid meal & fish meal Botha huge servings. Everything tasted fresh and delicious.
So happy we came here for lunch on our last day in this area.

We stopped here for lunch on the way to Port Arthur. Beautiful water views and the food was great. We ordered a calamari caesar salad and grilled half crayfish.

Got to Dunalley late on a weekday and The Cannery was pretty much the only nearby food option available. It was a slow night and they almost shut shop earlier than usual...good thing they didn't.
What a FABULOUS meal, we had the seafood platter to share plus the magical seafood chowder (not to be missed)!

We were grateful we stumbled in after a big day of travel and exploring Port Arthut. It was totally packed, and the 2 waitresses ran off their feet, but they welcomed us and found us seats with another couple.

The food was perfect and the atmosphere was fun. We had a great ending to our last day in Tassie.

Food - cooked exceptionally well, fried food does not leave you feeling greasy and bloated, and the seafood is fresh and delicious. Would highly reccomend the seafood chowder (to die for...). Steak was cooked to perfection, could have been a bit hotter (may have been left to rest a bit too long) but to nitpick to that level I think is a bit trivial.

Service - run by two energetic, funny, focussed and attentive owners (lady in the pink jacket has a wicked sense of humor, and the bloke is very attentive and you can see he genuinely cares about the customer experience).

Atmosphere - awesome music and view. Love the Jazz and Blues!! 🎷🎸

Phoned ahead to book a table just to be safe, spoke to Nikki (apologies if misspelt!) who happily took my reservation.

Was welcomed and served by Sarah who was friendly, polite, and helpful. Sat outside to catch the sun before it set and ordered the fish and chips. The chips were served hot and had a really tasty seasoning on them and were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The fish was great (hot and crispy, good amount of batter) and the tartar sauce was made well, too.

Highly recommended and would happily return!

We had an indulgent three course brunch and the food was amazing (that chowder!), as were the views. Massive shout out to the friendliness of the staff; they were great.

About the only improvement I would suggest is if they had someone dressed as a tree in order to jump out at customers. This would be a great visual accompaniment to the chowder.

JUST KEEPS IMPROVING

I dined at the cannery a few years ago and have seen a huge improvement in both the meals and service.

My rating is based on similar venues with similar menus

It was a chilly day and the wood heater kept us toasty warm even though the room is large and spacious the feel of curling up on your lounge next to the fire was there. However if you were still cold they supply blankets , which none of us required

The service I couldn't fault , the staff were friendly helpful but not over powering , arriving at the right amount of time. The venue was rather busy but nothing a problem for the wait staff

There were 10 of us and the menu had a great variety of food to choose from

I chose the seafood platter and it was amazing. Just the right amount of food, and some salad to cut through the fatty batter

The steak was also a hit at our table , cooked exactly as ordered

Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal, service and atmosphere

The only complaint was the salt and pepper squid was over seasoned and not enjoyable , but that is the exact reason I never order salt and pepper squid as in almost all cases the seasoning is way too over powering

Great family day out with great memories, great choice of venue

We are down from Sydney and stopped in for a feed. The lady who served us was so lovely and the food was amazing! I ordered the salt and pepper squid and it was the best I’ve ever had, so fresh and tender! We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and would highly recommend stopping in if you’re in the area!

Enjoyed our dinner at The Cannery. Service was top notch. Loved how homely it is yet retained the old industrial cold chain warehouse feel. Food servings are huge and it is a big hit by local residents.

We’ve been meaning to drop into The Cannery for quite a while now as it has a great reputation amongst local Tasmanians. We weren’t disappointed by any means with a selection of food from mushrooms and oysters natural (1 doz of course) as entrees and the Catch for Two seafood platter washed down with Balter XPA beer. Great venue overlooking the Dunalley wharf, great staff and the food!!!!! Best book on weekends as they were busy. 5 Stars all round team.
