Best fish and chips by far in Brisbane. Ordered the crumbed salmon, chips, kabana, and calamari. Husband and I finished it instantly. Happy tummy. Value for money as well. We will definitely come back. Yums!

Mum and I just moved to the neighbourhood and this is the first place we went to for dinner. 2x grilled chicken burgers and chips for a very reasonable price! Staff were lovely and you could feel the “home-like” atmosphere. We will be coming back again!

What can l say, best fish and chip shop in Brisbane if not Australia. Great service and food. Every time l walking in the joint he has always got a smile on his face ready to talk. The food is absolute sensational and the best part it cheap. The mouth watering Greek desserts are always a top hit within my family. Can’t wait to come again.

Our go to for proper burgers - big buns, real patties, lots of flavour, none of that brioche stuff. The type best eaten from the wrapper or bent over on a park bench because it is juicy (as opposed to the greasy American type). I have not found better chips, I like them crunchy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. The family is very friendly and accommodating and if you plan to eat there, they have silver service :)
Our regular order is a beef burger with the lot with chips but the tasty bomber is epic if you’re very, very hungry.

Driven past this fast food premises many times in the past, so thought we'd give it a try. The price was very reasonable and the burgers were BIG and delicious as were the chips, nice and crunchy just the way we like them. We couldn't actually finish the burgers as they were so big. My only criticism would be the burger buns, they were just a little too soft and they crumbled very easily while we were eating our burgers. Will definitely be going back to try the other food items on their menu list...

Massive portions, great tasting burgers, and incredible wedges. I rarely write reviews but this place is 100% worth it, particularly for the price. You can’t go wrong with this one. Very friendly staff and will definitely be back again

Back in the day my brothers and I would go to Jim's old store on Lumley Street, we still have such memories of big Jim, ever the hard worker and a family man. It was a sad day for our young lives when the store changed hands and the chips were never the same.

We moved away from the Southside but no other chippy was the same (look, Tipplers in Taringa is second but it's not that close).

Driving down in the Southside to my partners house, I noticed a mural that says Big Jim's takeaway with an unforgettable face.

I walked in and was greeted by a young man with excellent service skills, instantly realising this was one of the kids I'd see regularly at the old shop. I ordered my food and waited and picked it up and then asked if the old man was still in the business.

He tells me to wait a sec and he brings out Jim. I hadn't seen the man in 15 years, we both look so different yet it's him.

The chips. Taste exactly like my childhood. You know that part in Ratatouille? Yeah literally that with chips.

Big Jim and your wonderful family, thank you being a source of treasured memories for us. My business is yours forever.

Lovely freshly cooked takeaway and these people have been in business a looong time.
My kids ate burgers there during the school years and now it’s still my go to for a really good burger and chips.

Jim has great takeaway food, he has fresh well priced food and it comes in large portions, if you are a fusy eater and like quality burgers, chips and Greek salads and deserts then look no further. Cheers Paul Brinckman.

Get down there and do yourself a favour and order the extra large big breakfast! Foods absolutely top notch and haven't had anything like this in so long I can't remember! Good honest food made by a good honest place, definitely going to be my go to place, so what are you doing reading this?!? Get in there!

Big old school hamburger, reasonably priced ($7.50), better than the wanky overpriced burger places.

I'm a Melbournian, asked iff the Flake was good? He said yep, so got a crumbed piece n 2 sea Scollops. It was really nice :) 5 🌟

This burger is by far best burger 🍔 around worth the 800kms traveled, great service hospitality, nothing but a kind hearted great guy/shop, desert range is great with Banoffee pie and Tirramasu, THANKS JIM LOVE YOUR WORK SERVICE WILL BE BACK AGAIN FOR MORE

This place is a true nostalgic experience. No frills, just home cooked meals and desserts with very lovely and genuine staff who immediately make you feel like family. Very reasonably priced for this area, and they have a great variety of takeaway options- we usually get the fish and chips and it's delicious!

For a while now I've been coming into jims, I have never been disappointed. It has become atleast a fortnightly staple, with a huge burger the lot for $10.90 and a hamburger for $7.40 it's a great price for some great and filling burgers.

Jim is always happy to have a yarn and advice on what's good at the moment. An absolutely pleasure to purchase from and the foods still great once I get it home. Highly recommend

The food is delicious. Tried crumped and grilled fish, both were absolutely on point. Staff were kind and friendly, promptly accommodating our special request. We'll definitely be back again!

I drive all the way from the Gold Coast just for this place. I'm working my way through the menu, and I'm yet to find something I didn't like. If you're looking for a proper take away shop, this is the one... you won't be disappointed!

Delicious, huge burgers with the lot, tasty homemade beef patties. Chips generous, crisp & delicious. Sides of coleslaw & bean salad also fresh, yummy homestyle & there's a fridge full of home made desserts too; banana-caramel pudding was out of this world. Very friendly service. Top tastes, good value. Will definitely go back.
