GOTO Japanese Restaurant

Excellent food, my family loved it. Highly recommend the chawanmushi & tooth fish. Was $70pp for 5 of us with no drinks, fairly expensive but pretty standard for good Japanese.
Wish inside seating had more ventilation as they have an open kitchen and it smokes up.

What a hidden gem! We were blown away with this meal in every way. Great quality, amazing flavour, everything was delicious. We loved the chilli spider roll, pork belly & gyoza!

Been there many times. It’s My go to place for Japanese food in QLD. Their staff is always friendly with speedy service. The chef is also super friendly and enthusiastic about food. They’ve got a really good chef team that focuses on their own stations and really excel in their designated role.
The efficiency, flavour, and presentation of the food is just impeccable no matter what you order.

Two small down side I found would be the price on higher side and also their tempura sauce is not as flavourful as some other izakayas at Gold Coast (but the tempura presentation and selection is great).

They have a nice wine list. You can have famous Japanese plum wine too(plum wine is only 60ml small portion). Nice Japanese restaurant.

It’s very authentic Japanese cuisine.

Anything is delicious no matter what you order.
Fish is very fresh. Tempura is crispy even after time passes. Meat is juicy.
Their all dishes utilize the original taste of fish, meat, and vegetables very well.

I personally like eating Champon Noodle at the last after enjoying Sashimi, Sushi, and some sides.
Even if you are already full, you can eat all because it's too tasty.

I will definitely come back here soon!

Little gem of a restaurant in Southport

Finally found a restaurant serves aged fish. Thanks to our very strict import regulations in Australia. Japanese sushi here is always very predictable, I would even say boring.
First time here at Goto today and I'm impressed. Not only the quality but also the price. All these for $200 only, in the Blue fin tuna nigiri plater they even serve special parts like Kama Toro.

Chu-Toro was amazing. We contemplated for a long time and didn't regret ordering it. It was worth it. Crunchy Chicken sushi was juicy and crispy, cod fish was perfectly done, not over or under, nasu dengaku really nice and the noodles were perfect on a cold winters night. Actually we couldn't fault any of the dishes that we ordered. It was a great experience. Definitely coming back!

Beautiful and delicate food. Cocktails were also delicious.
Perfect for a date night if you’re ordering the more tapas-like items, but also there are also menu items suitable for a casual dinner.
Relaxed atmosphere and attentive staff made the night very enjoyable.

Authentic Japanese restaurant. Pleasure to watch the chefs to cook and handling sashimi. The oyster in the sashimi sushi combo is excellent, the best oyster I have tried in local Japanese restaurant, compatible to local Japan. I wish Sydney can have this quality among the affordable range. Don't forget the draft black beer, perfect match to their tempura.

Revisiting this time and will still be my top choice in future! I love sitting in the bar watching how marvellous jobs the chefs have done! The food and vibes are amazing, and staff are very friendly and supportive.

absolutely amazing japanese food. You may read about "best japanese" for many other places but trust me when i say this but i am foodie and Japanese and i can definitely say this place will please any tastebuds. very sensibly priced and friendly service

however if you are looking for corporate/business dinner with solemn settings i would avoid this. setting is casual/family/friend get together, or date with your partner but not to discuss business

Wow! This place amazed me so much!! From the moment I walk in, I just know this is authentic Japanese food. The food was really yummy and authentic Japanese with a hint of fusion. Bare in mind the price of the food can be a bit pricey, but it is definitely worth it if you are celebrating an occasion!! The portion can be a little bit bigger tho.

Made a booking as we walked bye and it was the best decision. Such fresh produce, cooked to perfection! Authentic Japanese dishes served with a smile and sake to match. The scallops were a complete mouth orgasm! So good, will definitely return.

We had the sushi and sashimi platter, soft shell crab, fried chicken, wagyu steak and scallops and black miso cod. Food was all delicious and did not let us down. The place has a nice atmosphere and the waiters were very kind (one dish took a while to come out but we were warned about it ahead of time). Would go again for a special occasion

If you haven't been to GOTO Japanese restaurant I highly recommend it, very Authentic Japanese cuisine, the flavours and presentation wow definitely going back there again, and if you sit on the bar seats you can watch the chefs in action preparing dishes.

We went to celebrate my husband's birthday tonight and we were again very impressed with the quality of their food (freshest sashimi ever!) and customer service. Thank you for making our date night more special.

The food is of high quality, sashimi is fresh, and everything was presented nicely. Their wasabi is also of very good quality!

The restaurant is, albeit not big, elegantly decorated with simplistic but stylist renovations.

We were greeted with very polite and friendly Japanese style customer service, were offered the menus promptly, and felt for a little moment we were in Kyoto.

This is one of the best Japanese Izakaya in Australia, the atmosphere and the food are certainly on par with some of the Japanese restaurants in Japan! The chef has the talent and attention to detail on the flavours. We came here by accident and the result was a pleasant surprise. The special menu was stunning and the stable menu was also outstanding. The beer is also from Japan; something that only Japanese can understand.

Very attentive service. Like the menu and presentation. Scallop is my fav. And the sushi rolls also a surprise to me. Over all it worth the price. Will sure come again
