There can be a wait for this place but it is most definitely worth it so a booking is probably best. Teriyaki chicken here is sweet yet peppery which is different but in such a good way. Wagyu beef here is soft and tender and packed with flavour. Will be coming back again to try some other things on the menu.

Highly recommended! The food is so tasty, cooking with fresh ingredients and serving refreshing cocktails. The service was great and fast. The ordering via scanning barcode was easy . Danny was amazing, he made mango cocktails for us which were so delicious. When we mentioned that we came for our anniversary, we were allocated at the top floor :) We will come back for more soon. Thank you so much for looking after us so well

Went for Sunday Lunch, it was a pleasant experience!

Lots of seating, good variety of staple Japanese menu items, peaceful atmosphere. The food was great, and quite filling! I had the Spicy Tuna Onigiris; good serving size and pretty authentic taste!

Short walk from the station, menus are via the QR code so splitting bills was easy. Definitely recommend for a relaxing meal!

Some very tasty Japanese food. I have been to Umaya 2 times and it is usually busy here but not so hard to get a table.
First time I went with a vegetarian friend and they have a good selection of vegetarian dishes like agedashi Tofu and some delicious Japanese potato croquettes which we had 2 serves off. Last visit I had the Tempura Udon which is a very generous serving

Went to Umaya today for my 59th birthday for lunch with my family and friends. While getting used to ordering online via the Qcode check in we had an Awesome day. Food was fresh/top quality. Price was good. The young girl who served our food was very pleasant. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon. Could not have been better. Marcus..

Awesome and authentic food. Staff were nice and very welcoming. Food came in really fast!
Parking was easy to find close to the place as it was at night time (8pm). Traffic wasn't bad either.

Food is amazing. Staff is very friendly. Affordable and best of all, has a really welcoming atmosphere. If at legal age, i highly recommend getting a sake bomb and doing it the 'traditional' way.

I love love love this place. The atmosphere is amazing. The staff are polite and attentive. Service is quick, the chefs are amazinggg. The food is always prepared and cooked perfectly.
Their Sashimi range its amazing, one of the few places that serve kingfish, so if you're a fan I highly recommend.
Its a great place for lunch, dinner or business meetings. They accept walk ins and reservations. Takes card and cash. No split bills though, so be mindful. Reasonably priced as well. As for parking, if your lucky enough to find street parking then great, otherwise there's Hunter street car park 1 block away

Authentic Japanese cuisine with a touch of Australia. The staff and team are great. They have social events on Tuesdays which is great to meet new people if you're new to the area. Love the chicken Katsu

Have been here twice now.

Had a usual Japanese place I used to attend once a week, that unfortunately closed down a few years ago, hadn't found another until now.
We stumbled upon this place by chance - driving past and I'm so glad we checked it out.

It's cosy and I like the atmosphere.
Food Is delicious and is satisfying my Udon cravings.

One of the best Japanese restaurants in the area. Staff are so friendly and helpful even during peak rush hours. The volcano sushi and spider roll are a must try! For drinks, I recommend the Zen cocktail if you're feeling fancy!

Fantastic place, fantastic service. Very hospitable and down to earth staff.
Ordered the chicken Kara age ramen (forgot the name and got it from the bill :)) and the yuzu flavour tasting drink. Both were awesome. Especially liked the pear flavoured one.
Was on the lookout for a nice Japanese restaurant and guess have found just the kind I was looking for.
