Ali Pasha Bridge

Such a rewarding journey there, and a highlight of Gjirokaster. BUT be in your cautious mode, it’s not a place to push your luck with safety. Also, don’t take the rocky non-path up to the bridge, it is made of big, loose rocks ready to slide down the hill. Take the side with the actual path, it’s much safer. Note that there is a grave at this site. It’s a very good visit though with impressive views!

I'm glad I walked to this bridge. I was almost by myself and enjoyed the walk and the view. I would recommend taking the upper trail, it felt a little more safe.

There was hardly any shades around noon, so I'd recommend going earlier or later.

We loved that bridge we went there to finish our day vlog for youtube channel (Maykel and Maaike) of the whole city and just before sunset. it was fun very high bridge under the name of ali pasha basically one of the leaders of the main castle. they built it over the river to cross safely because it used to be strong river but not anymore. Nice easy hike after reaching the location the hike is about 15 min to the bridge.

There’s a small white grave too at the bottom of the bridge.

But it’s very rocky and slippery.

So sad that such a magnificent monument is unmanaged and just left to rot !

We didn’t see any tourist besides us who wanted to see the bridge in person.

Well worth the hike.

Take plenty of water and don't second guess yourself. Just keep heading out the goatt trail (and up the valley) and eventually you will see the bridge in the distance. It is an exhilarating sight.

We were fortunate enough to have the entire trail to ourselves. Get an early start and you'll be glad you did.

You’ve probably heard the saying “all the gear, no idea”? Well, I was the opposite and went up there with plenty of ideas but no gear. Was a little treacherous as it hadn’t long been raining, but well worth it for the stunning mountain views around the bridge. Deffo good footwear is a must as plenty of other comments here have said and just the walk through the town to even get to the path where it gets rocky is deffo steep!

Beautiful scenery, was completely empty when we visited. It is quite a dangerous place, because there are no security measurements or fences for safety. It means you go at your risk, but it’s worth it

Beautiful place. 30 minutes walk from Gjirokaster castle and located in deep canyon. The bridge was part of a large aqueduct system commissioned by Ali Pasha of Tepelenë in the beginning of the 19th century. Highly recommended.
It is also recommended to walk Egyptian Vultures Trail - from the Bridge to mountain that on the other side of the castle- you can see 360 degrees panoramic views.

Loved this short but steep hike to the bridge, when we got there it was almost deserted and was a gorgeous view both of the town and the bridge. Be prepared with walking shoes and water, it is steep!

It was a bit hard to get there, but totally worth it if you are into nature. And no one was around when I went there, just me and two shepherds, so it was perfect! Especially if you are spending a few days in Gjirokaster, you should definitely make your way there

I really appreciated this hike. Would recommend early in the morning or at sunset.

A very beautiful bridge indeed. Worth the work. I would advise sturdy shoes. It can be difficult to see the path to walk on the bridge so keep a eye out. Take the path that goes down and then about 150m down there is a pathway up, otherwise you walk down under the bridge.

Beautiful place.
Far from the crowds. The climb is not the easiest, but far from the most difficult. And definitely wort it. Best to come in the morning, when the sun shines through the valley and you can get the best view.

You gonna need to hike a little bit to visit the bridge, but don’t worry, it’s not too much efforts. The bridge, mountains, and the riverbed is absolutely beautiful. You can climb up to the bridge or take a little walk along the riverbed. The best experience in Albania, super recommend

What an absolutely stunning bridge and surrounding landscape. If you're on Gjirokaster, don't skip this walk. It takes 30-40 mins from the old town.

This is a great hike behind Gjirokaster with beautiful vistas. Sturdy shoes recommended!
