Amazing place! Great food and the Na Da beer made our trip! If you're there do try it!

We booked 3 back to back tours with Max to explore north Vietnam and each one was better than the other. We were lucky about the weather too, rain came right when we were done in all tours!!! (I think Pat is the lucky one on this!)
The SaPa tour was great, with great tips for the trip and excellent service from Max who took us to our train!
Halong Bay was amazing! We had great tour guides and activities on both days! The CatBa hotel was a great one too!
And what can I say about the Mai Chau, Cuc Phoung and Tam Coc?! Rice fields all the way, peaceful homestay with the lovely Mrs Chung (who had rice wine shots with us!) Amazing food (a few surprised looks when we kept saying: no meat, no dairy, no eggs! But so much food! So if you're vegan don't hold back and don't worry! There's amazing food for you too!)
And then to top it all Max and ms Tui (I hope that's how it's spelled!) helped us with tickets for Hue and drove us to the train station again!
Stellar service!
When back in Vietnam I will definitely visit the cafe again!
Thank you again for an amazing experience!
I cannot recommend the cafe and the tours enough!

It is actually located on the opposite side of the street. We had a few Ice cold tiger beers and those ham and cheese pancake rolls you see on the picture. Was very tasty. You can also book tours which look very nice on the pictures hanging all arround this small cafe. Definitely worth a visit!

Max and his team are amazing.
The only way to book your tours etc whilst visiting Hanoi and the Northern part of Vietnam.
His Cafe has great food and great service.
They can attend too all of your needs re Food, Accommodation, Tours, Travel arrangements etc.
Nothing is a problem and they will do their best to sort it for you.
Once again "Thanks Max for making our trip too Vietnam so enjoyable"

Loved it! Seriously good burger and fries that actually taste of potato - a rare find in Hanoi. Beef is Australian and perfectly cooked.

Hand on heart one of the best burgers I've had for a long time.

Beers great value being priced not much more than the local.convenience store.

Kangaroo Cafe is small but warm and a great place to meet others. Huge serving plus 4 beers for less than US$13. Plus, Max and Twee are an amazing source of information if you want to travel around the local area.

If you're pho-d out this is the go-to cafe.

Great small cafe and very friendly people. Had a good chat about history and had BIG mug of coffee. I didn't drink anything else there (or eat).

I got a tour with them, ha long bay 2day 1night - well organised, excellent trip. Not a ha long bay scam!

I still think their website is awful, but apparently it's working as intended ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ so, look past it, it's very good company underneath it. :D

Current cafe/restaurant is under renovation - but don't let this put you off. We booked a Ha Long overnight boat tour and Sapa tour through Kangaroo cafe by email. All was fantastic! The food on the boat was incredible and plentiful as well as the hotel in Sapa (as well as the overnight train) well organised and perfect for us.

Max gives great advice and tips to complement your stay. Use email or the phone numbers on the website to communicate whilst the cafe awaits to open. Thank you for two great tours!

Generous Australian cafe style meals, prepared with no nasty additives. if you are very hungry try Mexi's mom's breakfast a chicken schnitzel or fish and chips. No more hunger. Very personalized service and attention and a welcoming atmosphere. Enjoy.

Don't leave Hanoi without stopping by the Kangaroo Cafe to try a cup of the best coffee you will ever have. The burgers are pretty good as well. The owner also runs a good tour service to Sa Pa at one of the lowest prices.

Top quality tour. Really well run. Nice crew. Clean boat with very comfortable rooms. Must agree with Rough Guides that this is the best tour operator for quality on a budget.

Good place for Western food. Especially fish and chips. Also great Na Da beer from Nam Dinh. In fact not tried other dishes.. fish and chips and Na Da is more than enough good reason to go to kangaroo when in Hanoi. but I dare to think the other meals are great as well. Also you can get a good deal for some tour there.

We have just completed a 21 day tour of Vietnam organised by the "the real kangaroo cafe". We requested some modification to there standard 21 day tour to better suit our requirements eg. Less temples, extra free days, quality accomodation in particular cities and a personal guide to travel with us. Max & Thuy supplied us with a new itinery and after a couple of Skype chats ( Max loves a chat) we were on our way.
The tour covered from the very north to the south of Vietnam, including plane flights, train travel, overnight Halong bay boat and many private cars.
Every part of the trip far exceeded our expectations, all transfers were timely, Max was in regular contact with us to check if all was ok, our guide was very knowledgable and a pleasure to travel with.
We would have no hesitation in using this company to travel with again. The food at real kangaroo cafe was very good, if it takes a little while it's due to using fresh ingredients each day. There web page looks a little dodgy but the information is real.
We enjoyed a fantastic holiday with no fuss

Good food attentive service and free WiFi, almost heaven.
Place was empty and dark but relying on the kindness of strangers who post on the web I knew I was going to eat here. Glad I did and thanks to those who used 21st century hobo markings to help me out as well.
So I am paying it forward as I should. Here is a cyber notch on the gate of The Real Kangaroo Café.

Arrived with a severely busted ankle, a 2 year old and a tonne of luggage... to realise our hotel in Haiphong had kept our passports! The Kangaroo team had us covered. Top place.

Good food. Very talkative owner. Well organized trips without worrying about being ripped off. (It's worth the extra $$$!)
