Beautiful surroundings to wander through and the exhibits are as interesting as they are stunning. While there is the ubiquitous reference to the war, there is more of the ancient history of Vietnam, which is rich and interesting.
The gardens were a welcome respite in the middle of a busy city and so beautiful. Highly recommend.

Great place to spend 2 or 3 hours exploring. Going inside the bunker was probably the best part of my visit.
Entrance fee is affordable and great place to take pictures.
You can also rent Áo dài if you're interested taking pictures with Vietnamese traditional clothing.

Beautiful Unesco world heritage site. Did not know they had hidden bunkers here used during Vietnam war. A much larger place than I originally thought. Can spend a few hours here.

Can't get enough of this place, as great as the Imlerial City of Hue, plus there's an archeological site on the opposite site of the citadel that I didn't have time to check out, what a pity. The entrance ticket for Vietnamese was 30,000vnd, seniors 60+ get a half price discount (must show an ID), not sure about the prices for foreigners, regardless, it'll be worth your visit. Make sure to get yourself some snacks and drinks in advance for the long walk and to avoid the mark-up prices inside.

We had a wonderful time exploring this place. There's a huge facade which fronts the citadel. Initially we thought that that was it and was a bit disappointed. But we walked further in and found many little buildings which contain artifacts excavated from before. The doors to these displays were opaque and it was not obvious that there're things to see inside.
I'm glad we spent more time to discover these. Perhaps better signage should be put up to direct visitors.

The Imperial Citadel of Thang Long in Hanoi is an extraordinary journey through Vietnam's rich history. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a treasure trove of cultural significance. It comprises the archaeological site at 18 Hoang Dieu Street, the central axis of the Citadel, including iconic structures like Kinh Thien Palace Foundation, the Princess’s Pagoda (Hau Lau), the South Gate(Doan Mon), and the North Gate(Bac Mon). It vividly portrays the country's political evolution over a millennium. While Hanoi Flag Tower is also part of the citadel it has a separate entrance, you can still see it from the citadel.
The visitors to the citadel are greeted by expansive, well-maintained gardens that exude tranquility amidst the historical grandeur. The site's outstanding cultural value is palpable, it is a must-visit.

Short walk from the ho chi mihn mausoleum. 30k VND entry. Few structures nice maintained and showcased. Nice gardens and tree lined paths to walk around. They Lso have regular events here on the sprawling grounds. Inside you will also find the general wartime headquarters with an impressive underground room that is located 3 floors deep. All the war cabinet rooms, vehicles etc are all well preserved and showcased.

It is a really beautiful place worth exploring. You may spend half day here to go through every part of this place. The entrance fee is also affordable. During noon, it might be a bit hot (my visit in August), so you may take a paper fan or electronic portable fan to deal with the heat.

The name Imperial is enough to get you going. The place is spread over a huge area and houses many things including the Citadel, museums, exhibitions, cafes and shops to name a few.

The place is very well maintained and the surroundings are full of greenery. They are also renovating some things. The Citadel is well worth a visit and I loved the many lotus art placed throughout the area, a thing of beauty.

Thang Long is about what used to be there rather than what is there now. It surprised me to find that Thang Long used to cover many parts of of Hanoi. During my visit, there was a relic exhibition, and the ceramics were stunning. My friend is well-versed in Vietnamese history, so she curated the entire thing for me. Get yourself a decent guide to explore Vietnam's history! It was also interesting to visit the Communist's underground meeting venue.

Wonderful place to visit and totally worth visiting. You will see many cross cultural architectures, antiquities, monuments, and educational exhibitions. You will be amazed by how the castles are built with underground and steep stairs. The exhibitions are fascinating as the antiquities are restored and displayed around different exhibition halls. Some of the exhibition halls are air-conditioned, you can be cooled down a bit during the hot weather.

Ticket : 30.000 dong / person

Worth a visit !
Idk what to say, just a beautiful place and better watch the weather forecast first. We had to walk a lot and luckily it was not so sunny. Mostly we went to rooms with air conditioners, so if the temp. outside is not so hot, then you won't feel so exhausted after going in and out.

A place well worth visiting. The campus is very large. There is a place to rent Vietnamese national costumes for taking photos. Tthis is a place that witnessed many historical periods of Vietnam. This is a citadel combined with a palace, the residence of ancient Kings

The Imperial Citadel is well worth a visit. While there is little left of the original (as it was moved to Hue 200+ years ago). The story it tells is interesting and dont miss the artefacts recovered 20 years ago in an archaeological dig. 30,000 dong and an hour or so well spent.

You can skip the trishaw, nothing great or particularly exciting about that activity.

It's a great way to spend many hours wandering from one area to another.

If the weather is cooperative, then the experience is many times enhanced.

The history is enlightening, and the many stories will keep you entertained if you have a good guide.

All in all, definitely one of the plus points in visiting Vietnam and this particular region of the country.
