Great peak of the pass route, bew tunnel built for more safer, faster, the current route pass become great place for tourist. Proud Vietnam history, happy place of nature, nice weather for begin new year. Full of fog, less vehicles, so fun to enjoy sightseeing, the more clear sky and far view will be summer when one can sight spot to ocean from high above in the coffee in the cloud place.

A breathtaking view from an outstanding site over the ocean and the mountain. The most stunning road of the country passing the hight mountain run to the sea.

We absolutely recommend passing the Hai Van Pass. If you want to do it by motorbike that is fine too but we took a company that made the transfer for you between Hoi An and Hue (they can do it also viceversa) by car and that makes stops along the way (Marble Mountains, Lady Buddha, An Bang Cemetery and lunch, etc) and we had a lovely day. Took off at 9h00 and we were at our hotel in Hue at around 16-17h00.

A little bit pricier (with regards to Vietnamese prices), but with them (huefriendlycars) we were able to transfer from one city to another without loosing a night, sightseeing different places (Hai Van Pass included!) and also have a lovely lunch. And the driver is very kind and gives you some indications along the way.

And if you want to pass it by motorbike that is fine too.

Beautiful spot to look over the Da Nang bay as well as Lang Co beach area. Currently they restaurate the Hải Van Gate which was initially built 200 years ago to protect the imperial city of Hue from the soutside invaders.

Really nice road to drive. But quite crowded. Wait at the end till the train arrives. Then go into the first line and accelerate as fast as possible. This way you are the only one for a couple of Kilometers on the track. But be aware of the police!
In fact you have to drive here with a bike because you can’t use the highway.

We booked a 16 people car for vnd 2.35M from Hue to Hoi An through-traffic Lang Co and the Hai Van pass.

It's even more beautiful by train as you get closer to the edge of the mountain but we found the schedule didn't suit our plans.

The view is definitely worth it.
Lang Co not so much.

A great trip over the Hai Van Pass! Couldn’t see a great deal at the top on the day we went over as it was very foggy. Still made up for it on the way down as the outlook to Phu Loc was breathtaking. Well worth a trip..

Nice drive over the mountain with fantastic views. We did a tour with a local guide from Hoi An, Onion Phe. Heaps of local knowledge and speaks good English. Our 4th tour with him.

Short and nice ride up for some scenic views. Pending weather it can be very nice. If you go by bike it's best to have a geared motorcycle to handle the descents

A tour by Le Family Riders took us from Hue to Hoi An by motorcycle on this road and it was a great experience! The views are spectacular and you experience Vietnam in a different way than usual

Best to rent a motorbike or scooter and try it yourself. Be extremely wary of cars and other bikes cutting lanes around the hairpins. The mountain pass itself is not very long, worthwhile if you're road tripping from Đà Nẵng to Huế or vice versa. The road coming back from Huế side has a lot of pot holes so be careful as well. All the merchants at the very top want you to visit their rest stops but their prices are all jacked up so prepare in advance if you don't want to pay those prices.

Nice place to visit. But the historical site is currently closed for restoration works. Will be back again to see it. There are a few shops and cafe for you to enjoy. Its nicely cold here.

Great view. Sometimes very foggy. Beware of the motor cyclists, they don’t fear death. Even if it comes on your windshield!

Flew in to Hue to do a one-way drive to Hoi An while going through the Hai Van Pass! In the past, I've ridden through Hai Van during the rain, so prepare yourself with a poncho as others have suggested glasses too. The ride itself is a good experience a fairly easy ride to navigate through, but prepare yourself in case the day do call for rain as the roads can he slipper. Since it is a single lane you often have a lot of vehicles tempting to pass!

Worth the visit everytime I come back. I have been here since I was little but I always come back here every year. The view is still the same, cool and relaxing. Just take the bike and ride slowly to enjoy the scenic panorama view of Lang Co from Hue and Son Tra Peninsula of Da Nang. Sometimes you can see fog and cloud climbing up from mountains to mountains. When you go to the top of Hai Van, where the border of Thua Thien Hue- Da Nang, there are plenty of coffee shops where you can enjoy your hot cup of coffee while watching the clouds surrounding you. Prepare yourself with a poncho in case the Hue or Da Nang side have little cold rain. And also be careful when you ride in the rainy day as road is little slippery and it can be dangerous when going down the pass. Should have a goggles or glasses if you dont wanna catch insect flying to your face (there are tons when its raining!!!!)
