Bac Ha Market Culture

This market is fantastic! Great for people watching, admiring ethnic minorities costumes and trying tasty local produce. Be aware of the lady in the photo. She pretends to be nice and friendly to the extent of hugging you just to make you sit at her stall and overcharge you for beer, coconut water and/or sunflower seeds and passion fruit (which btw doesn't cost 260 k dong). Her stall is right on the main market square close to the stage. Enjoy the market ☺

Busy market on Sunday - buffalo sales have been moved to Saturday afternoons, only pig, dog, chicken and duck sales now.

Tour guide mentioned that stuff here is cheaper than sapa, could get a big bottle of honey for 100000 VND while in Sapa it's 200,000

Tried some fried foods

Big local market on sunday, from morning till 2:00 pm, near the mountainous highlands and the Chinese border.
It's considered as the largest and most colorful market in the area. Throngs of villagers from the surrounding hill tribes walk to the market to purchase and exchange food, animals, clothes and household goods.
A must see in Bac Ha.

The best market I've been till now in Vietnam. It's not only the textile presents food it is also a social market with families and friends eating together, sharing. Love it

Bac Ha Sunday market is one of the best tribal market operated by the various minority tribes. The local produce and food sold, as early as 6.00am... One would be fascinated by the beautiful people in their colorful clothings, displaying their produce or wares.
Do take note that this operates ONLY on Sunday and the market slows down by noon.

A market you must visit!!! Several Viet ethnoses gather to sell their traditional products, foods, handcrafts, animals, etc.

Colorful and memorable Sunday market

Colorful market with is mainly for the locals, food, tools, cloths, and also handcrafts for tourists.

Authentic feeling market. Some sellers of the colourful clothes very pushy but the rest of the market is great. Red pho is delicious and unique.

Bac Ha market open only Sundays, Dzou, H'mong other ethnic minorities, in traditional attire, selling clothing, fabric, shoes, handcrafts, knives, tools, live animals, spices, a huge number of different food items. A must see.

If you wanna feel it, stay the night at Bac Ha and go from 6 to 8 AM. Later on, lots of tourist buses com from other cities.

Wonderful and hugely colourful market but don't feel guilty bartering. They ask WAY too much at the start. Prices go down 50 - 75% as you walk away.

Amazing place when you get to see the local minority tribal people come and sell their wares whilst trying to get stuff themselves. Apparently started off as a barter trade market amongst the tribal people but had evolved into a market for all to buy and sell.

Colorful Hill Tribes. Many goods from different area will be exchange here. From live stocks such as cows, dogs, chickens, cats, geese, ducks... to Household appliances in local crafting style :D
