Ethnic Travel

We booked a day trip to the handicraft villages around Hanoi. As opposed to other touristic offers (e.g. Ha Long Bay), this was very informative and absolutely no tourist traps involved. Also, the guide was very knowledgable and explained a lot about Vietnamese culture.

We walked into this bookshop / travel agency by chance this morning and we are so glad we did! The owners are the sweetest people and got GREAT taste in books. The walls are lined with books and it's set right in the centre of the old quarter. They can help you so much with recommendations for reading and are very professional for travel tips as well. It was such a lovely experience to book with them in comparison to other places we have been to lately. Defiantly recommend using their services and having a look through their bookshop!

We highly recommend Ethnic Travel for planned travels in Vietnam! Ethnic Travel planned our 4 days/5 nights motorbike Tour for the Ha Giang Loop.
We were by ourselves with our drivers and were very pleased and always felt safe with them since they are locals. The homestays were very lovely, the food amazing (always with vegetarian options) and the nature is magnificent. PLUS: the Office in Hanoi is also a bookstore :) 10/10!!!

We made an unforgettable trip with ethnic tours in the rural north of Vietnam. We made a loop from Hanoi to Ha Giang, Dong Van, Meo Vac, Ba Be, Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh back to Hanoi in 9 days. Every day was different and full of nice surprises. The program was very well balanced with walking, cycling, boating, meeting the locals, visiting interesting places, relaxing and eating local food. Our guide Vang was fantastic. He spoke good English, thought along with us, told us a lot about Vietnam and its history, culture, nature and customs and brought us into contact with the local population. He made a lot of effort to meet our requirements, such as arranging vegetarian food and fresh orange juice. The host families were very nice and interesting, only the bed was sometimes a bit hard. We ate organic and fresh food straight from vegetable gardens all week. We experienced a lot in just 9 days and would highly recommend Etnic Travel and especially our guide Vang. Although the weather in December was not too good - we hardly saw the sun and it was quite cold - its added value made our trip unforgettable. We'll be back soon. Vietnam is in our ❤

We did a trip to the bahia and other to Sapa.
Both were very nice, Mr Lucky in the boat and Ms May in Sapa, were both the best guides that we can have
Both trips were very nice and the agency send us a confortable car when the rain did some damage in Sapa. This gave us security
Finally they also offered us shower and tea at our arrival in Hanoi.
The only thing is that if you have the option, don't take the bus with beds, take the train or other option. They are so small, we measure 1.69 and 1.71 and it was small for both of us. Additionally, we take the holiday season and people was so noisy in the bus. Finally, the bus runs so fast (we left Sapa 22h and we arrive 3am). Regardless this point, our experience has been very great

We booked a 3 day/2 night trip to Mai Chau and Ninh Binh. Well organised tour, very kind guide and smooth driver. At the Homestay close to Ninh Binh we were welcomed like a familymember and the food was so delicious. We enjoyed it very much.

Absolutely amazing trip with them. We booked through not at all knowing what to expect but it turned out lovely. We spent 4 nights and 3 days going around Sapa with 2 of those nights being at homestays. We had an excellent tour guide by the name of Chi, who showed us the natural beauty of the land and gave us a real appreciation for the area. It seems like they tailor the treks to the fitness level of the group however on a personal note it was a lot especially when not used to the heat. After surviving it though it was such an amazing experience and we have so many good memories to look back on.

If you don't want to feed the 'fast' tourism of the area and want to a real depth experience I couldn't recommend this enough.

The owners of the company are very nice and welcoming. You can come and see them in their shop in the Old Quarters of Hanoï. The lady speaks English and French, which was very convenient for us ! You can contact them very easily thanks to Whatsapp, they answer quickly.

We did a day tour of the La Han Bay. Ethnic Travel provided us with cars (from our hotel), tickets for the ferry, lunch, and a small boat just for my sister and I. You don't have to plan anything, they do it for you. The lady who drove the boat did not speak English, unfortunalety, but she was very kind.

Then, we planned with Ethnic Travel a trip of four days in the Hà Giang area. They booked for us the night buses, the hotels, the motorbikes, a driver and an English guide. The guide (a special thanks to Nu) was great, spoke well English and showed us amazing places. This four-day trip was my favourite part of my entire trip to Vietnam, not only for the breathtaking landscapes, but also for the people.

You can find less expensive compagnies, for sure, but with Ethnic Travel, you're not blocked with a group of tourists. With our private guide, we could adjust the planning, take our time, ask her questions about the Vietnamese culture and people. I highly recommend the Hà Giang experience, especially with motorbikes (it was my first time ever on a bike and it was not scary at all). The price is worth it !

Above any expectations. We asked to have a day tour out of the standard touristic places and Khańh designed the tour in perfect way. The outstanding point however was him!! He knows everything of the culture and history of Vietnam and he answered to so many questions with coherence and details! We have been pretentious and he managed us with flexibility and professionalism. I truly recommend to opt for his tours!! We’ll do it again for sure

Had an absolutely wonderful time with Hien (I have definitely got that wrong) our guide around Ha Long Bay. Deeply recommend the 3 day 2 night tour, offers a more private and less crass experience than the huge cruise ships and at a very reasonable price. Much more variety and personal experiences based on anecdotes from others. Wonderful food, wonderful sights, wonderful time - and do ask if you need a place to store your bags temporarily between accommodation rather than assume it would be an imposition!

Use Ethnic Travel company to see Ha Giang! This was the highlight out our trip and a guide and driver is the way to see this beautiful part of Vietnam. You will learn so much about the ethnic minorities of this region, stay in homestays and eat amazing food

We booked our Sapa tour with Ms. Thu at Ethnic Travel and I couldn't recommend highly enough! Ms. Thu and her husband were so welcoming and friendly giving us lots of information and answering our many questions. Our guide in Sapa - Chi - was fantastic. We had the most amazing time trekking to her homestay just outside of Sapa. The homestay itself was lovely with all the comforts you'd expect and more than if you were staying in a city! Their home cooked food was delicious and we were made to feel so welcome by her whole family in her home so we are so grateful to Ethnic Travel and Chi and her family for making our Sapa tour a truly special one to remember - thank-you!

We were brought on our 5 day northern loop Ha Giang tour by guide Mr Khanh and driver Mr Hoan. We had a wonderful time, Mr Khanh brought us to truly off-beaten paths where we’d walk for miles with wonderful sceneries without seeing anyone else other than locals going about their daily lives. He is also very knowledgeable and clearly cares for the ethnics minorities in his home country :) Driver Mr Hoan doesn’t speak much English but is always so smiley and warm and kind, it was always truly a joy seeing him and his van after a long trek. He also navigated the extremely winding roads so well, we felt so safe under his careful driving. Would highly recommend this tour for travellers who enjoy walking (a lot!) in places untouched by tourism, and getting a glimpse of local life through cosy, humble homestays (with delicious, homely local food) and forest picnics!
