Nguyen Shack - Phong Nha Eco Resort

We read many mixed reviews about coming here but were very happy with our stay. The views in the morning are gorgeous and the simple bungalows are very clean and well maintained. The showers do have hot water, you just have to turn the power button on once the water is on. It is slightly out of town but very easy and quick to get into with a bicycle/scooter. We used bicycles on the first day which were 2 very well-maintained sports bikes with all the gears working. Just make sure you have a torch if you ride at night. Our motorbike was definitely more run down and I would recommend renting one from in town as our indicators and speedometer didn't work. Trang was lovely to us for our whole stay, breakfast was good and we ordered food in the restaurant one evening which was very tasty. She also helped us to sort out our bus journey onto our next destination and helped us on arrival with a very smooth checkin as we got in at 2am. A really lovely stay. Would recommend.

a must stay when visiting Phong Nha! the views were breathtaking over the rolling hills and sitting on the large balcony in the morning having a coffee seeing the water buffalo in such close proximity was an added bonus!. the rooms were clean and tidy, and the restaurant attached to the Resort served delicious food which was vegetarian friendly and an affordable price. special shout out to Trang the manager who was attentive, helped with any queries even though being super busy with dealing with check ins, taking food orders and generally running of the resort. she even booked our transport to our next city which exceeded our expectations due to the Luxury transport. thank you for a wonderful stay and i will be recommending everyone to stay here when visiting the city!

I don't even know where to start. We liked everything about this place. The location, calm and in the middle of nature is wonderful. The boss is super helpful and answered our endless questions with patience and enthusiasm, it's clear that he, too, loves the place. We had both dinner and breakfast there and both were very good. One more kind of tea (black or ginger for example) would have been nice but I liked my daily green teapot well enough. We did two cave/jungle tours with guide and are happy we did, it was really worth it. We did the Paradise cave/Dark cave tour and the Elephant cave/Ma Da valley jungle trek tour, both tours very well arranged. We rented bikes one day and saw more of the lovely countryside.
The rooms are beatiful with a nice view to the lake and hills. If you wake up early you might see the white herons gather in the treetops and fly away.

Super friendly and helpful staffs, beautiful views and quiet. This is definitely the place for people who's searching quiet, peaceful moment, very fresh and good food also. Very comfortable bed, but could be a bit small for someone's tall. Our room seems totally new but technically we couldn't lock the bathroom. Otherwise, I love this place! When i come back to Phong Nha (probably I will), i will not hesitate to come back also this lovely homestay.

Beautiful stay with beautiful view. The rooms were clean. Staff is kind, friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again if we go back to Phong Nha, Vietnam.

It was the best. Ms. Trang took care of us very good, she even booked our bus ride going to our next destination. She was very warm and so hospitable. The place itself is magical, we only booked for 1 night, but ended up extending to 3 nights. Fantastic.

Great place to stay and enjoy Phong Nha!!​ Beautiful little bungalow on the water where you can chill and watch nature go buy. The staff are lovely and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again. Just note it's a little far from the main area but if you have a motorbike or a bicycle it's no issue at all. Highly recommended!

Great shack with an amazing serene view to wake up to, good decent breakfast but cab service is to and fro
You will be staying around the rice field and can also try the rice wine there.

Trang is the best manager at the hotel ever. She help us with the Caves activites, tranfers, get to know the village, recomend the best places around and always taking care of us. We love her!!!
If we came back anytime to Vietnam again, we will sure repeat this experience!

AMAZING! Beautiful location in a lovely local village . The host Trang was so helpful and kind during our stay. She was readily available at any time of day and went out of her way to look after us . Rooms were clean and cosy! Will definitely be recommending to everyone coming this way 🥰

Trang is so incredibly nice and helpful, just an absolute gem of a human. The bungalows are very nice, clean and comfortable. Great location just outside of town, with incredible views. I sustained an injury to my neck while I was in the area, and Trang let us stay in our bungalow all day after check out for free, so I could rest before taking the sleeper bus that night. That really meant a lot to us. She even messaged me after we left to see how I was doing. Honestly I can’t say enough good things about this place. The food is also great and very reasonably priced. Do yourself a favour and stay here for a beautiful relaxing time! Thank you Trang! We love you!

A very beautiful and romantic place.

Perfect for a friends trip with couples - everyone gets a lot of privacy, but can also gather at the same spot to chill.

The view from the window is breathtaking and there is also a terrace to drink a cup of coffee and enjoy the sunset/twilight or just the sounds of the nature, seeing a gorgeous mountain skyline.

We stayed here in 2019 and we really enjoyed our time. We come back this time and everything looks different. They made a big renovation after a long covid closing, but it is still nice. We just relaxed in the room and enjoyed the view because we did all the activities last time. Phong Nha town is still very quiet no

Very nice room, staff helped with whatever you wanted even with setting up tours through jungle boss. The best tour we've gone to in Vietnam. Room got upgraded from a single bed house to a double bed ... House for free ( went during off season thought).

Nice and rustic place to stay.
Amenities are a bit old.

Services are good and the receptionist is very understanding. She upgraded our booking without charging due to maintenance of the original room. She also asked us if we want to stay at another place when she saw us concerning about the place!

Overall a good experience!

It's a beautiful set up next to a lake were you feel like in the middle of nature. The staff was super nice and welcoming. If you love animals it's a perfect match, there are a few cute and friendly dogs and cats and a piglet plus duck. The bungalows have a nice design and were clean, we had one of the lakefront ones with a beautiful terrace to relax. The food in the restaurant was very nice too, especially the papaya salad and the vegetarian phó. I would go back there in a second!

Nguyen shack is incredible. Tucked out of town means it is quiet and tranquil. Set overlooking a lake at certain times of the year, surrounded my trees, birds - we even had an spot bellied eagle owl that had its perch opposite our window. The rooms are perfect with such huge windows so you feel as though you are sleeping outside with the added comfort of a cozy bed. The balcony is private and a wonderful place to relax. The food is fantastic, so grateful for many vegetarian options with our favourite being the Tofu Bbq. They have bikes to ride into town and there is a lovely large swimming pool. With all these facilities and luxuries you will have a great time. However what will make it amazing is the staff. Each and every member were incredible. So helpful and friendly. We booked for 3 nights and stayed for another 3. We didn’t want to leave. Highly recommend and we look forward to coming back.

A nice homestay with super friendly and supported staff. I was unexpectedly upgraded to a larger bungalow without any charges. There is also no more charge for early check-in and late check out.
However, when I arrived, there is no more lake view because it was under construction, little disappointed.

Absolutely great stay. Staff is friendly and helpful. Food is good and very reasonably priced. The rooms are cosy, tidy and clean. Location is a matter of taste. For me that ride a motorcycle the location of this place is just perfect. Its away from the centre of the town and you can enjoy the sounds of nature and the nice lake view from every cabin. Its also still close enough to the centre for anyone that likes to borrow a bicycle from the hotel. The biggest takeaway though is the staff that were incredibly friendly and helpful. I'll be sure to stay there again if I visit Phong Nha again. Top notch!

Excellent service, all the staff was super friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and at a good price. The location is amazing, in front of the lake and surrounded by nature. The place is full of animals like dogs, cats, ducks, pigs, chickens, all are very cute. The accommodation is very comfortable, the bed, pillows and blankets are excellent. The bathroom is very clean and comfortable. We passed a great time there. Very recommended.
