Unreal experience.

I highly recommend people put this on your list; it is fantastic. It is not for everyone; you will sweat profusely, not shower, get muddy, scramble through tight spaces, and ascend a large wall with ropes. I loved every minute of it.

The Son Doong Cave is nearly 9 km long, and the volume is up to 38.5 million cubic meters, making this cave the largest natural cave on the planet 🌏. It has many complex and giant stalactites (over 80m high), ancient rain forests 🏞 growing inside the cave, its own ecosystem, weather, or a mysterious underground river that no explorer has yet discovered to the end of it. It was indeed an adventure that is like nothing else in this world.

the experience is out of this world, truly amazing. It got better and better everyday, this is the place where you want the time to stop to be able to enjoy more. The vaulted cavern swim is a chef kiss, i wont further explain to save the real experience for your own. $3000 for full on package from your first step out off plane/train, totally s worth it. for cheaper option, consider Tu Lan 4!

I’ve visited this cave with my best friend. It was by far on the top three most amazing adventures I’ve ever taken. And I’ve climbed Mount Everest so that’s saying a lot. The adventure takes you through the cave system introducing you to level a pain level of adventure. Every day and every night I thought it couldn’t get better but it did. Vaulted caverns extended under water swims and an environment that you can not find it anywhere else in the world. Truly an epic adventure.

Hidden beneath the lush jungles of central Vietnam lies a deep subterranean labyrinth that holds three of the world’s four biggest caves.

Caves of central Vietnam’s Quang Binh province. Not when they’re big enough to fit a 40-storey building.

Three of the world’s four biggest caves are in this skinniest part of the slender nation. Hundreds of other limestone caves housing deep grottoes and underground rivers are here too, with new caverns discovered every year. They’re welcome news for this area, just north of the demilitarised zone that split North and South Vietnam from 1954 until 1975. The US bombed here extensively during the Vietnam War (one crater is used as the site of an outdoor bar), and poverty hit hard for more than a decade afterwards.

Now Quang Binh is the world’s hot new caving destination, home to a 126,000-hectare Unesco-protected national park whose lush tropical forests hide a vast 104km subterranean world – making it one of the most spectacular limestone karst ecosystems on the planet.

Awesome cave. A world within a world. Incredible ecosystem with forest, river, and even it's own cloud. An avatar movie exists on earth.

In a recent article, the paper quoted a group of travelers who explored the world’s largest cave as saying that it is “a sanctuary, a lost world below the surface - a unique ecosystem.”

The journey of the six-member team through the cave took four days of arduous climbs interspersed with spectacular sights, such as some of the world’s most imposing stalagmites, fast-running streams, and an underground forest.

“It’s peaceful here, you feel completely detached and free. This is what you call a reset,” said one of the travelers, Ernest Rudyak, in a video diary of the journey.

Son Doong Cave has been recognised as the largest of its kind in the world by three international organisations, including Guinness ( based in the UK), the Association World Record (based in Hong Kong) and WorldKings (based in the US and India).

The Vietnam Record Association, VietKings, said Son Doong Cave is the first and only place in the world to hold titles granted by three international world record organisations at the same time.

The cave is located in the heart of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park in Quang Binh province. Son Doong was discovered by a local in 1991. It was first explored in 2009 by the British Cave Research Association and has been open to the public since 2013.

The 1,645m-long cave system, which extends through a mountain, was named one of the most captivating caves on earth by National Geographic.

Geologists say the cave formed two to five million years ago. It is roughly 6,5km long, 200m high and 150m wide, exceeding the former world record of Deer Cave in Gunung Muli National Park in Malaysia.

Before going I read reviews comparing Son Doong favorably in terms of a 'life expereince' to Everest. That did not seem realistic to me at the time, however after going through the 5 day Oaxalis expedition through Son Doong I can see why people would say that. I have never been to Everest, but I have backpacked through some of the best national parks in the US and EU and I can say that Son Doong was the best natural attraction I have ever seen. The reason it isn't discussed on the scale of Kilimanjaro or Yosemite is simply because we've only known about it for about 10 years. Going through Son Doong is the journey of a lifetime, and something less than 10K people on earth can say they've done.

I've lived in Vietnam for years and have explored up and down some of the most exotic places on in Vietnam, on the continent and across world.

This, by far, bar none, is an experience of a lifetime. I would imagine that in the last hours of my life I would think about Son Doong as one of those experiences that made life worth it.

Clearly the poor reviews are written by people who have not been inside of the cave and would value a half-month's salary over one of life's great experiences.

I was one of the first 500 people in the cave back in April of 2015, wildly enough on the 40th anniversary to the day of the end of the Vietnam War and the reunification of the north and south. Knowing this region was one of the most heavily bombed parts of the country, I as an American was overwhelmed standing inside of one of God's greatest sculptures inside of a country that was a sworn enemy a generation ago.

Hang Son Dong Cave is the largest cave in the world

Hang Son Dong Cave is a wonder of nature. This cave is located in Vietnam, with a length of 4 kilometers, a width of about 100 meters, and a height of about 240 meters.

Hang Son Dong Cave is one of a network of 150 caves that have been discovered so far, as well as a large number of caves that have yet to be discovered.

What is interesting is that this cave does not meet the specifications of other caves, such as the darkness and the fact that it contains bats and other terrifying atmospheres. On the contrary, you will not find anything of this at all. Rather, what distinguishes it is its amazing size to the extent that it contains a large forest inside it and a running river, and the exciting thing is that the humidity inside the cave is so high that the condensation of water vapor leads to the formation of what looks like clouds in the sky of the cave!!

Surprisingly, despite the huge size of these caves, but the explorers say that you do not pay attention to them unless you are directly in front of them.
Discover this amazing cave in the Phong Nha-Keh Pang National Park in Vietnam, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located in north-central Vietnam, about 500 km south of the capital, Hanoi.

It is said that it was discovered by a local man in 1991 but in 2009 the British speleologists announced their discovery of this cave.

"The World of Traveler" conveyed to you some pictures of this amazing cave. The pictures were taken by German photographer Carsten Peter in 2010, and Karsten had participated in a campaign to discover these amazing caves with the aim of documenting them scientifically and in the media:

Did the 4 day hike through the cave with the company Oxalis. Unbelievable scenes in/amongst the caves. Pictures can't capture the scale of these formations.

Absolutely magnificent place. Oxalis Adventures does a wonderful job making this expedition safe for everyone while keeping the nature preservation as much as possible. I would highly recommend everyone to give it a try if they are up for the challenge.

For some reason, this reminds me a lot of that dragon sanctuary in the second how to train your Dragon movie. It’s amazing and it’s beautiful and I really love it.
