Safeway

Safeway has just about everything you'd need in the way of groceries. I recommend you download the app and take advantage of the coupons/discounts, however. The price point is a bit higher than average, but not significantly so.

I didn't know what to expect at a Portland Safeway. I certainly did not expect the best Safeway I have ever been to. Everything was clean and organized. The prices are excellent. I don't understand all of the shower and home goods being in a separate section, but I'm new to Portland, so it probably makes sense to locals. I love this place. 10/10, this place is great.

This Safeway had a different vibe from other Safeways I've been to around the area, probably because of its location in the middle of Pearl District. Its layout was very city-friendly and they were well-stocked. It is easy to go in, get what you need, and get out. All my partner and I needed was some ibuprofen to get through a pounding headache while downtown, and we were able to find it and pay within a couple of minutes. Employees were friendly and efficient. There are homeless people outside, but they do have security and the houseless individuals there tend not to really talk to you from my experience.

Ample parking. Clean elevator to get down to the store. Security on point. Aisles clean. Shout out to the African American guy in the seafood section. His customer service was a 5star. He explained everything and made sure it was packed perfect for travel. Not many cashiers up front, however in the alcohol section they are there. Self check out is preferred unless you need something from that area with the alcohol. Definitely would shop here again.

I have to say the young gentleman Dustin is quite the employee. I miss seeing him in self checkout, but I always see him zipping around friendly and professnal and always greets me whenever he sees me. The other day he saw I was struggling carrying my groceries and he got out of the Starbucks line, to help me take my groceries to my car. I offered him a tip and he declined.

Does your grocery store have a full bar with tons of local taps and nitro-topped growler fills? Nice people, good atmosphere, engaged managers. They deal with the occasional urban insanity with grace and humor. A real community center, glad to have them.

This Safeway is a wonderful place & always has great pricing and deals! The Staff is very kind and caring never hesitant to help when needed!

If you can work here and still go home sane, it monumentally blows my 51 yr old who watched the old Safeway torn down when Crack was on every corner and one in-between. They shut down the bar and every other storefront and built this Safeway for all the upstanding citizens that bought into the Apts built right above me. Flip to 2023 and this Safeway is the boot camp of Safeways. The ones that have been here from Christine to about 8+ of the regular staff are all completely incredible to have to deal with so much rudeness to strait abuse that unfortunately the parent company hired a particular security service that, if you really do your research. Something is not right. But, the bottom line is if you can work here, you can work anywhere. It's a very hard to work here but there are so many people I have talked to that love and depend on the compassion of many of these employees. I know I appreciate it and I annoy people just looking at me. Thank you goes a long ways sometimes

I believe this has been the most pleasurable shopping I’ve done in a while, from the time I went in, until the time I left, they were someone close by that could help me or answer my question. I got everything I needed and out of the store 15 minutes, a great place to shop.

They seem expensive but staff is super patient and nice. Great selection. I was stoked to find it well stocked. The flowers were blooming and flying everywhere

Safeway is a great store with really good reasonable choices.

It's also right near me & they have really good buys & awesome things to get when you need it. The people who work there are really nice & helpful.

Love this store! Mainly because of its proximity to my apartment. Other than that it's pretty much like any other Safeway. With one exception-this one specializes in junkies getting caught stealing. And junkies just stealing. Remember not to make eye contact, or be prepared to say "sorry, I didn't bring any." or "it's my last one." or "of course I can help you fill out that job application in your hand."🙄

Never had a bad experience at any safeway. They have great sales. Of any grocery store in portland, I save the most money and get the most items at safeway.

Busy, sometimes a bit crowded.
Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Neighborhood is busy and diverse. I love it.

Good for late night shopping when all the other safeways in your neighborhoods are closed for the night. After a blazer game or something. It's a scary dark area with plenty of zombies though.

Never been in the city store it was different parked in a parking structure. Up to the store in a elevator. We went to the deli and the person making the sandwiches was very sweet i have a 5 year old and a 9 year old and she was very patient and taking their order made them laugh it was a good experience!
