I like this part of downtown Davenport. Ragged Records is close by, as are favorite bar restaurants like like Armored Gardens and Barrel House. I'd not noticed Blue Spruce General Store in the past, probably owing from a combination of the small sign outside their shop and the relative newness of this location. After seeing a mention of them in the Quad Cities subreddit on a post asking for the best restaurants for lunch, I resolved to try one of their sandwiches.

The interior of Blue Spruce is simple, but very inviting. The flooring is a combination of small white hexagonal tile and hardwood laminate. Shelving on either side of the sandwich counter displays specialized dry goods and drinks, while the counter itself provides views of the baked goods and deli meats available. The ceiling overhead is exposed, including the fire protection piping and HVAC ductwork. Overall, a color scheme emphasizing whites and blues makes the space feel clean and fresh. It's an interesting look overall. There's a few tables to sit down to eat at, but there's clearly intent to grab a sandwich and some other items and leave to dine elsewhere, too. It's a different sort of space for the area, and I like the feel of it.

I was here for a sandwich though, and that was definitely going to happen today. I ended up choosing the Italian. While the sandwich was being made, I browsed the drink case for some beverage choices and ended up selecting a kombucha made by Verve. On the way back to the register I also ended up grabbing some Sterzings potato chips - hadn't had those in a while, but they've been a local (and personal) favorite for years so I wasn't going to pass those up.

This is one of the best sandwiches I've had in the area in a while! The bread is really fresh - it has a nice chew and taste to it. It definitely has that "slow fermented" taste to it, as advertised. All of the sandwich meats tasted like they were fresh sliced. The large pile of arugula and bit of soft mozzarella cheese provided additional texture and contrast to the various fatty deli meats. I talked to one of the guys at the register and confirmed I need to return for the pastrami sandwich in the future. I like an occasional pastrami sandwich, and if the one Blue Spruce makes is as fresh as the Italian, I'll definitely be back.

The kombucha and Sterzings chips were a welcome addition to the sandwich. I'd forgotten how much I'd liked Sterzings - I've been back in the QCA for about 2 years and somehow hadn't had these since. Definitely need more of them in my life! I'd also highly recommend the Verve kombucha - it's the first time I'd had kombucha in a can and it was fantastic! Definitely need to try more varieties of this in the future.

If you're down in this part of 2nd Street in Davenport, you owe it to yourself to give Blue Spruce a try. It's a neat shop in an already fun part of the downtown area. Grab a sandwich, do some shopping, and make a day of it. Thanks, Blue Spruce!

I have been frequenting Blue Spruce since they opened downtown on 2nd St and they have been amazing every single time. I've had multiple sandwiches, specials, breads, and pastries over the last year or so, and not one has been disliked.

It's also enjoyable browsing their well-curated selection of other specialty food products, and their tin fish selection is awesome.

The staff is always welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Some bakery and deli items have limited quantities each day, so come early!

More recently they have reduced their store hours to focus on other things, but the quality and friendliness of the place still stands and it's well worth making time to visit on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. They will always have something tasty!

Nice, clean store, I had the club and an orange and white chocolate scone, both were delicious. They have an interesting selection of a lot of organic and small batch products that look like they would be good to try, and they sell honeycomb!

I’m so happy this opened in downtown Davenport! Great location - very easy to walk to if you live or work downtown. I ordered a ham and manchego baguette and a slice of pumpkin bread and loved both. Their bread is delicious. They have a nice selection of grocery items. It is very small, but there are quality items including meats and cheeses, pasta, and some fresh produce like lemons, limes, potatoes, and onions. I’ll definitely be a regular customer here!

Orange and pistachio scone/and of course my fav, ham and manchego cheese in fresh baguette. This together is about 13 dollars which is not bad, and it is wonderful and FRESH, I go here at least once a week, and great/friendly humans are working there, I am so happy about this place. More posts about soup of the day/and scone options would be great, however everything I have I love. Have to give it a shot, it is delightful!

Alright, y'all buckle up cause you ain't ready for the flavor tsunami that is the Blue Spruce General Store. This ain't just any old shop, no sir. This is the Versace of sandwich shops, the Bugatti of baguettes, the Gucci of the gluten game. Let's talk about that pastrami sandwich first, because lord have mercy, it's like they captured a barbecue cook-off and crammed it between two slices of bread. This ain't your mama's pastrami, folks. It's thick, it's juicy, and set to perfection. But don't think it's just about the pastrami. Their soup? Man, it's like slurping up a warm hug from grandma. Cozy, comforting and I swear it's got healing properties. Caught a cold? Forget the doctor, get yourself a bowl of Blue Spruce's soup. And those croissants... I've seen people weep at their beauty. Golden, flaky pastries that just melt in your mouth and make you question why you ever settled for less. You bite into one of these bad boys, and suddenly you feel you're on a first-class trip to Paris, no lie homies! Blue Spruce ain't just any mom ‘n pop shop, it's a culinary haven, a gastronomic utopia, the joint where taste-bud dreams come true. Don’t sleep on it fam!

Might seem a little pricey for some, but the quality of product is second to none. Everything is of the highest quality here. Had to laugh at the person comparing this to Panera..not even in the same ballpark..lol. I will continue to patronize this local establishment as often as possible! Keep up the good work!

I never realized what a game-changer quality, delicious bread could be until I tried the Country Brown. Every meal paired with Blue Spruce bread is more delicious and wholesome because of it. The service and delivery are top-notch as well 😊

I’ve been here 3 weekends in a row, so it’s safe to say Blue Spruce is going to be a new Saturday tradition before the farmers market! Great deli sandwiches, but their croissants are out of this world and SO incredibly buttery and flaky. Along with their daily selection of breads and croissants, there’s always something new to try (and try, we do!!). Sweet scones, savory scones, bay leaf blondies, cakes, cookies, all crazy delicious - never had anything disappointing. And don’t sleep on the cold brew! It’s really smooth and the house made syrups aren’t overly sweet which I love.

Of course, I always leave with some other random item that I find on the shelves. This would be a great place to get a gift for a foodie or pick up some special snacks for a picnic or hostess gift. There’s a great selection of elevated basics and fun brands i don’t see other places. Great vibes and you can tell a lot of thought and love goes into their food. A must visit if you’re in the area, and lots of other great local businesses in the surrounding blocks.

What a wonderful place to stop in on the weekend, grab a delicious flakey ham and cheese croissant, and enjoy the atmosphere the general store as to offer.

Came in for a sandwich on my lunch break and had the Pastrami, and picked up a croissant for a snack later. This very well could have been the best pastrami I've ever had in my life. Full Stop. The croissant was perfect with it's brittle crunchy exterior and buttery soft layers in the middle. Thanks to everyone at Blue Spruce, I can't wait to come back.

Delicious lunch today! I loved the caprese sandwich and my daughter loved the turkey sandwich. Excellent service! One of the workers even let my daughter try the red pepper chutney before ordering to make sure she liked it! Beautiful store with great energy. Can’t wait to go back!

Run, don't walk. This deli is so good. I ordered the pastrami on rye. Meat was fresh and delicious and the bread is homemade. I'll pick up a loaf next time I'm there. My sandwich was so big I ate half yesterday and am finishing up the second half for lunch today. Will definitely be back....soon!

Impressed with my entire experience. The store section was one of a kind. I loved the variety of drinks and specialty food and was pleased with the charcuterie selection. That was nothing compared to the bakery. Found gluten free cookies, cake, soup and bread! On top of that, the staff was very helpful.

Some of the best bread one can ever eat. The cherry cinnamon is my favorite but the country brown is also very good. I haven't had some of the others they bake. Pastries are also very delicious and fresh, the key lime pie is absolutely a must, it is for sure the best pie I have ever had. Delivery service is a plus and the pick up is convenient as well. Prices are fine, especially considering the quality of the bread and the size of the loaves. Will definitely become my bread provider from now on.
