The Saturday morning staff at this Natural Grocers literally saved my life — thank you <3.
I’m a librarian who used to live in the apartments across the street from this shopping center. Early on Saturday morning (2023-01-21), as I was packing to move out, I slipped on the stairs while taking the dog out, rolled my left ankle, and proceeded to summersault down 1.5 flights of cement stairs. I hit my head, exacerbating an existing concussion, sprained my left ankle badly, and twisted my right ankle. I had my wallet, but not my phone or my keys, and after I hit my head I couldn’t remember the code to get back into my building.
I made the mistake of taking my left boot off to pack snow on my ankle, which promptly swelled up so much that I couldn’t get my boot back on, and the limp was unmanageable with only one boot on, so I ended up barefoot in the snow with no way to call for help. Once I hit my head, I also forgot that I had found an old Halloween costume while packing — a cape that looks like butterfly wings. So I was limping around the shopping center begging for help and swearing from the pain, but wearing butterfly wings. Since the shopping center contains a liquor store, everyone except for Natural Grocers assumed I was a drunk and refused to help me.
The manager at Total Wine called his corporate philanthropy department instead of 911, and the nice folks at Verizon Wireless made fun of me while I laid face down on their floor and cried, even though they clearly recognized me from when I bought a new phone & watch there earlier that week (I knew my balance was poor after the first head injury and I was hoping an Apple Watch with a cellular plan would call for help if I fell, but I set it up wrong). Plus, multiple shoppers shouted at me to get away from their cars.

Anyway, at one point, I pulled out my credit card and limped into Natural Grocers, with my now unleashed but totally codependent small dog following on my heels, clutching the sign from their door that said “there’s still time to get your turkey.”
They first very politely sold me a giant frozen turkey, and asked if they could carry it out to my car. When I told them it was the dog’s turkey, and they should ask her where to put it, the lovely cashier named Yolanda very quietly refunded said turkey. A big thank you also goes to the security guard, who kindly made sure I took my credit card when I limped off, even though I wouldn’t take the turkey.
I kept limping around and attracted the attention of two off-duty nurses, who asked me if perhaps I wanted to sit down and wait for the very delayed ambulance somewhere where I felt safe. So I eventually limped back into Natural Grocers, where Yolanda smiled at us all and let me, my dog, and my slowly expanding circle of first responders sit in their community kitchen while I cried and asked people to reboot first the Post Office and then the Pacific Ocean, and fire Space Force (ocean acidification is a topic that is always on my mind, but even I was surprised by the Space Force bit).
Nurse Susan seemed surprised that Yolanda was so quick to let our ragged band sit in the kitchen (Nurse Paul had a much better poker face), but Yolanda just smiled again and didn’t even mention the embarrassing incident with the turkey.
Yolanda did look vaguely surprised when, as they were wheeling me out on a stretcher, I said I would take my coffee to go — probably because as a regular customer, I should have known they don’t sell prepared coffee. But she still smiled again and waved goodbye.

So thank you, Natural Grocers, with all my heart, for helping me when almost everyone else ignored or mocked me. I should’ve come to thank you in person, but I’m too embarrassed to ever set foot in that shopping center again. After my release from the hospital, I finished packing and moved straight back to my much smaller hometown in another state. Where hopefully, if I fall down the stairs again, someone will just call my mother, plus an ambulance. But just in case, I got rid of those stupid, stupid, STUPID monarch butterfly wings.

I really appreciate the vibe @ this location! The store is always presented nicely, shelves are stocked, price tags accurate 👏🏽 & whenever I've stopped in its been a low key, relaxed shopping experience. The staff are really friendly & willing to help, & providing the reuse of their boxes to take home groceries is always a plus to me! Shout out to Kenya, who was my cashier on a recent visit, for the friendly service & smiles, you're appreciated thank you! 🙏🏽

I've always loved this store. Huge selection for supplements and kombucha. Not a huge produce area but seemingly I've always found what I've wanted. The employees are nice too. Anyone back in the supplement area has good knowledge of what they're speaking about and any suggested product I bought has worked out as they suggested it would. I wish I were closer to this one but I make a point to drive here vs. other locations which aren't as big.

This is my favorite place to buy groceries. Their brand items are amazing deals & the packaging is adorable. The people there are friendly. Grocery shopping is not my favorite thing & going to natural grocers makes it a better experience for me.

Every purchase has already been vetted for purity and planet friendly. I don't need to consider safety or quality because they have that covered. Best variety of organic anywhere. Better selection of veggies than Whole Foods/Amazon.

This is one of the biggest locations I have come to..more space between aisles and high ceiling created a different shopping experience. I think I spent more time rather than dashing in for just what i needed. Missed out on Beanfields white bean Himalayan salted chips which was one item i did come in for..great salty chips.

I was looking for a particular multi-vitamin, and called this store. The person who answered the phone, Jolene, was super friendly, checked their inventory and let me know that they were out of stock (I later found out there is a nationwide shortage on this brand). When I asked if she had any suggestions on where else I might look, she offered to check with other stores in the area in between customers and look around for me. I couldn't believe she would go the extra mile like that, especially when she told me she has only worked there for about a month! And especially when I had called the corporate headquarters in Lakewood, and got a voicemail recording that said someone would call me back in 5 days! Jolene rocks!

I love Natural Grocers. Even though they tend to be a bit more boutique in size their selection is varied and things like canned jackfruit and beyond meat burgers can always be found there. Their staff is very knowledgeable about the various products offered. I love the demos that they offer too.
