I wish I could give a better rating as it seems to be the gas station I prefer, but the manager always leaves a bad taste in my mouth whenever I'm unfortunate enough to come across her on the register. I like to consider myself as having relatively good manners, and after many years in customer service focused jobs myself, have a decent grasp on how to respond to a customer when they walk up and say something along the lines of, "How's your day going so far?"

And interaction that is apparently beyond the store manager here, Penny, however. Because 9 times out of 10 that I see her there, she will spend the entire transaction gossiping about either her co-workers who aren't there at the moment, or recent customers, ignoring me to the point of refusing to even tell me how much my transaction will cost when asked directly.

I have NEVER been treated so rudely by an employee of any other store in my life. It's outrageous and unacceptable for any employee of any company to treat its customers in such a way, and the fact that it is the STORE MANAGER we are talking about here even more so.

I am at the point that I will start turning around and walking out the door and going literally anywhere else from now on if I see her at the counter. Even if it means resting running out of gas to do so. And I just want to point out that if this was a one-off situation I would understand, sometimes people have off days. But this has been a situation that has been going on for as long as I can recall seeing Penny at this location. And I've lived up the street from the store for 15 plus years. Any friends I have that I have spoken to about the situation have all had very similar experiences with her. If this is the kind of behavior that Big Apple expects and tolerates from it's employees, never mind it's store managers, then I don't believe that it is a store worthy of my continued patronage.

Went in with my employees to purchase drinks and cigars. My employee 19 purchased her drinks and left to go back to the truck. I asked for my cigars, got carded as I should , but then asked if my employee has her license to be of age. I said they were not for her as I am almost 40. I do not know a female who smokes cigars. Either way, I was refused service due to her being underage. I asked if she could show me where the law states that because they are definitely for me. Never have I ever provided minors or would think of it as it would destroy my business and reputation. For you to assume that calls me guilty of a crime I have not and will not commit. I also called the NH ATF office and confirmed that is not the law, and in fact, it only states no one under the age of 21 may purchase tobacco. Sgt Cullen stated that if they have proof that I am going turn around and give them to an underage, that would be illegal. So from what the Sgt said if she sold to me no she or the store would not be at any fault. With this scenario that unfolded my next question would be if I walked in with my daughters that are 4,14,18 would you still not sell to me?Now that being said, there is also a law in NH that states you can refuse business to anyone for whatever reason, which this would have fallen in line with but at least when I ask why be truthful. I will never shop at a place that calls me guilty of a crime before I'm even able to commit it or refuse service and not be truthful to why. What you also didn't know is that I'm prior law enforcement and served 8 years in the United States Marine Corps prisons. What has this great nation come to. I forgive you! I believe the NH ATF was going to call to inform you of the law. I hope an educational day is taken so as not to insult more law-abiding citizens.
