The Gaming Goat - Tinley Park, IL

I’ve always wanted to go to a game shop and I never got the chance to but year later I came and got some magic booster packs as my first cards ever and I was fascinated by the environment. They are great and professional and love the environment. One thing I wished was they start having Standard Magic the Gathering tournaments because that would bring us magic players a little closer since this epidemic. It was also be great for new players like me trying to get started in standard. That’s the only thing I wished but overall this place is amazing 5/5!

Great place to try a new card or board game from thier awesome selection! From basic boss monster to star wars miniatures you are sure to walk out of there is something!

Great store! All the regulars seem comfortable there, and their prices are fair. I hope they add more Dungeons and Dragons stuff, but I also understand they want to carry a diverse set of games!

The best, most welcoming shop I have EVER been to! Clean, well lit, large and varied inventory. The staff and owners are top notch, very friendly and helpful. The patrons are also fantastic and kind, warm and personable. I visited while on vacation and plan to return again when visiting the area. In fact, we visited this shop twice on the same trip! We had so much fun on the first visit we wanted to return before leaving to pick up a few other things to support the store. We chatted with one of the owners and found out they have a strong set of values which means a lot to me. They have made business decisions based on these values and it TRULY reflects in their shop. To explain a little more about my experience, as a woman I often walk into a game shop and receive one of two reactions- "OMG IT'S A GIRL must stare/I don't know what to do" or "what the heck is a girl doing in here, girls don't game". I received neither from ANYONE. Patrons outside were friendly, opened the door for us. Patrons inside were polite and conversational. Staff was so helpful and caring. If you're a gamer and have been to other stores you have experienced the 'gamer funk' at least once. You won't face that issue here. I cannot say enough about this place and strongly urge you to give them a try. This to me is the gold standard for game shops.

First time visiting this store today and the employee Michael was phenomenal in assisting us. His friend (who doesn't even work there) was also helping us in selecting Pokemon cards from a nice variety that they offer. Clean, open concept store, doesn't smell bad like similar stores do lol, and overall great staff. Will definitely be back.

Took my ten year old nephew to his first pokemon tournament here. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly, great play space, 8 tables filled so plenty of ppl to play against. Good times, great place to game.

Staff is knowledgeable, helpful and kind. Clear separation between the play area and retail product. Plenty of options and inventory to choose from. Play area looks inviting, simple to maintain and clean and available. Only shopped here so far but I may see about booking a table to play in the future.

Great selection of current magic products. Staff is super friendly. Prices are pretty great here on sealed product. They also have a good selection of d and d products and board games.

As an out-of-towner, I cannot say whether or not The Game Store - formerly The Gaming Goat - represents what your Friendly Local Gaming Store experience is in the Chicago area.

If it isn't, though, it should be.

The aura of this place is palpable: it's friendly, more so than many game stores I've visited. On crutches, a gamer standing outside chatting with friends before a tournament stopped what he was doing to get the door for me. That right there amazed me enough, but the greatness had just begun.

There are two sides to the store: one for gaming on tabletop, and one for actual shopping. The selection here is massive, and I found two board games to purchase (and several others that I desperately wanted) amongst the shelves, stocked as they were with a wide variety of games from your basic Ticket to Ride to more esoteric ones such as Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn game.

The gamers inside? Awesome. No gamer funk, and it looked like they respected the store a lot. Most had masks on in this Covid endgame, and none of them immediately popped as "That Guy" at the FLGS. The staff, though not always easily identified, were right there with their customers: no one waited long for service, and no one left frustrated.

One of the owners checked us out. Super friendly dude, and I was happy to tell him I loved the place. It just felt right, and that's so important in an FLGS, especially with all the stereotypes AND with Covid winding down.

Stop here for your gaming needs and look no further. This is one place to support amongst all others, and the next time I am in the area? I'm coming back for more.

This store has great vibes! I stopped by just to look and the staff immediately greeted us. There was a great selection of games and the store was well organized and clean. Everybody hanging out in the store and playing cards was friendly

I am blown away, I wish I would've known about the Goat much sooner! The prices are amazing, I can't find anything cheaper anywhere... but it goes beyond that, this isn't just a "we're super cheap" store, they are super friendly, great atmosphere, answer as many questions as you have, and have genuine feedback to give on the majority of the games they have. If you live anywhere near, I would 100% recommend you stop on in.

Andrew runs a wonderful shop with a variety of games, and a particularly wide selection of Magic the Gathering cards for all the major formats. Always a pleasure to sit down and play some EDH in the shop. He had this to say about his low prices: "I'd rather the cards be in my customers decks than on my shelves".

This place is great. It's relaxed, the prices are hard to beat and the staff is beyond friendly.

I can be a very indecisive and stressful buyer of product, and it annoys most other shops and clerks I buy from. Gaming Goat Tinley guys are very helpful and respectful, they don't rush me, and their owner knows how to organize buys and trades for me easily when I overthink everything going on around me. When I go there, despite my faults, I always feel welcome. They have the patience of saints and set a good standard for how hosts should treat their customers. Couldn't be more satisfied with the service I receive.

One of the best card stores in Illinois! They dropped the not so mighty shackles of the oppressive and overbearing Gaming Goat and became the ultimate Giga-Chad LGS now known as TGS Trades! Be sure to stop in and wink at Frank if you're in the area

Been coming to this store for over a year now and it is my favorite store for cards in the area. They always have an amazing selection of board games and tcg products. I always walk out of the gaming goat in Tinley with a smile on my face!

I have been to multiple card shops looking for one I like and none of them were as kind or as welcome as this one. Would recommend this shop to everyone. Great selection of cards. And they buy and sell cards for great prices

They have amazing and quick service. They offer an amazing variety of products. They also host many different types of tournaments in the store. I would really recommend checking this place out!

Shop is super clean and organized which is not always the place with these spaces. Friendly crowd with lots of spaces to play. Easy access location and friendly staff. Overall a great place to play games.

Made it very easy to sell my old pokemon and yugioh cards. Seemed to be a fairly full house for a friday night with friendly people to talk to. May be selling my magic the gathering collection to them as well soon.
