Fantastic service. Answered so many questions about shoes and training that I've wondered for a long time! Got a great pair of shoes that feel great so far (three runs in!). They also had a box of toys for my toddler to play with while I got educated and tried on different shoes. Can't recommend enough!

Tim is so knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He actually tells you what the shoes do for your feet and how each feature works and why he picked the shoes for you to try on over others. He really likes to talk and I feel like an immediate friend to him. He is so kind to do the runners lace for me instead of me having to do it which takes me longer before I get to experience the run test. He also lets customers switch the laces of the shoes for a longer one or for a different color or thickness without charging you extra. You can tell that he really knows what he’s doing. He says he the people that go to the store are usually by word of mouth(it’s true, me too) and by doctor or coach’s referral. So he carries more supportive shoes. I was surprised that he can tell what model my shoes were when I walked in just by looking at it like from top view, not like holding it close being able to see the model name printed on it. That just shows he knows everything about shoes and which fit who. I definitely recommend going to him for new running shoes. He even stayed open 24 minutes late for me to choose my perfect pair of shoes. He is really open about his life and can hold a good conversation with you like really getting to know his customers and who they are. I felt comfortable chatting with him and sharing my experiences in life. I would definitely come back when my new shoes got worn out. Better than hired employees at Forward Motion in Danville, there’s just something about having someone who specializes in running shoes to help you find your perfect fit. I’m sure the lady at Forward Motion is great but I never had the chance to let her help me, she’s always so busy. Athletic Outpost is a chiller business so customers can have more one on one guidance. The parking hard as it is in downtown Walnut Creek, no free parking anywhere except Wills Fargo bank parking lot, the rest are metered spaces.
One last thing, this is the first time since a long time ago that I felt sure that I won’t need to return my shoes ever again. I had to many times before in other stores too. I felt confident that Tim found me the right shoes for me. I have narrow heels and most shoes don’t fit me except the popular clothing brands such as Adidas or Fila. But there’s got shoes that fit me there like nowhere else! Made me thought good quality, expensive shoe stores don’t carry shoes for narrow heeled people. This is a first for me.

Best place to buy athletic shoes! Sharon and Tim are extremely knowledgeable and always find the perfect shoe for my whole family (dad, husband, daughter, sister). If you are still going to those big stores where you have to chase down someone to help you and have no idea what to recommend for your specific needs, you are missing out on this one and one experience. Highly recommend!

Staff are very friendly and very knowledgeable. I was recovering from an injury and it was only here that I found the solution I needed to run again. They studied my stride and fitted me with the right type of shoe, insert and lifts so that I could run again pain free. They were far more useful and knowledgeable than my own podiatrist. I am very pleased and will only buy my running shoes here from now on.

Hands down the most pleasurable shopping experience I've ever had. Tim is knowledgeable, kind, and incredibly helpful. Felt like I was having a regular conversation the whole time. He watched me run down the street in the shoes I eventually bought to see my gait. Real helpful. Recommend!

Excellent Service and very personable. I will recommend this place to all of my friends and family! It is great to see customer service that puts the customer first. They made sure that I purchased the right pair of shoes for ME. Not to mention, they told me to bring the pair of shoes back after a few runs if I found that they weren't the right ones for me.

Tim is fantastic! Staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. They have sucb a passion for great shoes and customer comfort. Honestly, you will not find a better staff or store to find your shoe needs, particularly if you need anything orthotic! Tim really knows his stuff and is so communicative on the reasons for his recommendation. You're in great hands.

Super knowledgeable staff, nice assortment of shoes, speedy try on, and quick checkout. Very happy with my experience and highly recommend to others. I will be back!

Good selection of running shoes. I think the lady that helped me pick out a new pair was the owner. She had me try on several different pairs until we found one that fit my foot size well.

This place has a small parking lot for customers, which is hard to see from the street, but next time I'll try to park in it because it can be hard to find a spot in the metered street parking.

I just found this place, my podiatrist sent me here to pick up some shoe inserts to help me with an Achilles issue. I'll be back to buy a new pair of athletic shoes from this store. They are extremely knowledgeable about athletic shoes, and very very nice.

We were able to find a narrow size in a stability running shoe and the proper orthotic insert for my daughter at Athletic Outpost. Tim was informative and patient throughout the hour long process of trying at least a dozen combinations of shoes and inserts on an 11 year old. I had previously ordered 12 pairs of shoes and 3 different inserts through Zappos and Amazon and had no success. Athletic Outpost stocks over 1500 pairs of shoes, so you have a good chance of finding what you need at a fair price, however, the service is what will keep us coming back. Thanks Tim!

Great selection and service. There were 3 other customers but it I got the help I needed and the shoes that fit.

I went in and had a mission to get shoes. They helped me get in and out with comfortable new running shoes and a smile. They also have real conversations with people and not just the "hi how is your day" talk like you usually find in retail.

An excellent store that should be the first choice of both newer runners and those with years of experience. I was thouroughly impressed with the knowledge, passion, and friendliness I experienced. The service was possibly the best I've had anywhere.

Even in the pandemic, Athletic Outpost offers fitting and style advice as well as a wide variety of shoes and related products. Sharon was even able to provide a particular orthodox which I had been unable to find elsewhere. Consider this store the next time you need athletic gear.
