Retro Game Trader

I'm a fan of the other Retro Game Trader location in Beaverton so I figured it would be time to visit the one in Hillsboro. I was not disappointed at all! Very spacious and clean with a lot to offer inside for all the big video game consoles, as well as cute hobby collectibles that are pretty affordable for what you get. Their games are mostly fairly priced (retro gaming is an expensive hobby so it's understandable) and they price match which is cool. The employees seem passionate about what they do, though it can be hard to get a worker's attention if they are engrossed in a conversation (in that case just ask another worker who's not busy). Overall I do think I prefer it to the other location though both are great! Will definitely be coming back!

If you’re looking for anything and everything video games, then the retro game trader in Hillsboro is the place to go! They have a huge selection of games for multiple consoles and the people there are great!!

Awesome store full of everything. They have the biggest collection i have ever seen in both games consoles controllers and accessories. I traded in my old game boy stuff and have been able to get a bunch of controllers for my pc. They are also jointed with the clubhouse that has a bunch of awesome board games that i can also get with my store credit. Its a million times better than gamestop.

Best video game store in Oregon! Awesome staff is very friendly and knowledgable! Management is above excellent! Very well organized and fun to browse. Amazingly huge selection of games from all eras. Lots of trading cards too and collectables! Great doing business here, would highly recommend supporting this store with your next purchase.

I had a great experience at this store. I purchased a very rare Atari game and manual and couldn't be happier. They have a great selection and many uncommon titles.

Awesome place with huge selection of retro gaming products. They have two locations, so if one location doesn't want l have what you're looking for check the other location. Very friendly staff. I often bring my son to the locations, he loves talking to the staff about games, looking at all the selection there and then picking out some retro gaming products.

The only complaint I would have is about the hours at the Hillsboro location. I wish they were open until 9 p.m. like the Beaverton location. I'm coming from the other side of the Portland metropolitan area, and it's extremely hard to get there before they close at 7 p.m. As a result, we often find ourselves going to the Beaverton location during the week since they close at 9 p.m. By the time I'm done working and can head out to Hillsboro there's not enough time to get there before the store closes due to rush-hour traffic. We can only visit the Hillsboro location on the weekends when none of that isn't. I do wish they were open the same hours as the Beaverton location so we could visit both locations during the week. That said, I love the store and the staff is great, so it's still 5 stars. I just wish both locations closed at 9.

EDIT: I want to thank the owner of Retro Game Trader for their response. I've done some research since their response and they are not wrong. The store is awesome but this strip mall and parking lot have a bad, well-earned reputation at night. I've only been there during the day and I'm not from this side of town so I was not aware. Their reasoning is sound. Unfortunately it is what it is. I completely understand what they are saying and agree with it, and I think them for taking the time to respond and explain it 🙏

Took me way to long to write a review. I've spent a lot of money here on games I really didnt need, and I dont plan to stop, but at least it's cheaper to fuel my nintendo addiction here then anywhere else, the place has more games than I ever imagined. The place has games I thought I would never see, games I didnt know existed. And the employees are really cool too. Overall, quality of items, quality of service, and worth of money spent is stellar. If it wasnt so far I would be there every week, at least to look at it all.
I can't wait to come back soon!

I absolutely love this place, all the staff treat you like a close friend or family. The owner will even play some games with you as well, the people that come to buy stuff or play games as well are cool, all around a welcoming place 10/10

The entire crew at this location is amazing. Helped me get through a tricky situation with a unit that was on the fritz. Helpful, professional, honest, and friendly. Cannot recommend these guys enough.

So Happy to have another location closer to home 👍 the store in Beaverton has had an amazing selection of nostalgic games and are willing to find them if they don't. The Hillsboro store is just as amazing with large selection of titles. Now my favorite part, both locations now sell trading cards and support in store play. The staff are always helpful and very knowledgeable.

Pros: Definitely the spot for hard to find games or even commons, 99% of the staff team awesome great attitude. I highly appreciate the majority of the staff!

Cons: Price tags are climbing since stims came out and won’t stop week after week, especially the rare games, some pre-owned authentic retro controllers are gross/broken parts inside controllers.

Overall, I hope the cleanliness of inside of the controllers gets figured out for the price tags. Regardless of the cons, I’m always having fun chilling with staff and scoring rare items visiting both Retro Game Trader Locations! 5 Stars all the way

Skies of Arcadia price went from 160 to 200 in a week (I have a receipt of a copy I bought from one of two of your locations and a picture time stamp of the current price’s of why I’m interested in.) I wasn’t accusing the store of changing prices due to stims coming in, I was stating what I have been witnessing each weekly visit, didn’t mean for the mixed communication. One of your Nintendo controller was responsive, however, the Right button’s inside plastic component was broken in half and eventually was unresponsive and had to glue myself. I inspect and clean all products that I purchase

I was happy with my trade in value and their selection of both video games and boardgames. I thought that their customer service was also professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. They also allow in store gaming at least Warhammer and Magic.

I turned in my switch and bought a nintendo ds and a gameboy advance sp. After a few days I found out that I didn't need the ds because there was an sp with ds graphics. So, they allowed me (5 days after the purchase) to trade those back in for same value and get the gameboy advance sp 101. They said normally they wouldn't allow this but since I was kind to them throughout and since I had just bought it they allowed it this time with the warning that it was a rare thing that normally isn't done. Would I recommend this store over gamestop? 10/10 hell yeah. Would I come shopping here again for any and all of my gaming needs? 10/10 hell yeah. These guys are the real deal ladies and gentlemen.

Such a cool store. Amazing selection of games and consoles all the way back to the 2600. Will definitely go back.

Good place if your looking for an old gaming console or just trying to get a physical copy of your favorite game, one of the many places in my opinion that have old games at reasonable prices. Highly recommend check this place out.

Bought a ps2 and budokai 2 from Retro Game and the ps2 is a beautiful thing. Like, for our grandparents it was well made cars. For us, its consoles like the ps2 I have now.
"She's a classic."

And budokai 2 was unscathed un marked and just plain in perfect condition. And well priced too.
