John's Run/Walk Shop

I had a great experience here recently!! I went in to find a comfortable and practical, yet stylish shoe, for my everyday job. I’m a dental hygienist so comfort is definitely key. I was given multiple options based on my measurements and walking assessment. The shoe I wanted didn’t have my size, so they were able to order it for me and have it shipped to the store. I didn’t have to pay until I tried on the actual shoe I ordered, so they knew I was satisfied. Highly recommend!

Stopped by hoping to find something more specific to my achilles tendinitis & plantar facitis issues, and I found a perfect fit! The young woman helping had only been working there a short time but had a ton of knowledge about the shoes they sell and was super helpful. Bought two pairs of shoes and will go back the next time I need any. Love these new Diadora, and that was the first time I've heard of them.

My wife and I were looking for good walking shoes for an upcoming trip and general use. The staff was very helpful in measuring our feet, watching us walk and making recommendations. She brought out 3 shoes at a time and had us try them on, asked what we liked or didn't like, went back multiple trips until we found the best feeling shoes for us. VERY PLEASED!

Staff is incredibly knowledgeable of both their products and proper fitting of shoes as well as foot and movement mechanics of the foot. They are incredibly patient when multiple shoes and sizes have to be tried, and the fact that they are friendly and fun to work with is a great bonus! This has been my go-to place for active footwear for years.

They walked me through the process to get the best running shoes according to my gait. I am about starting to run so I did not have any prior knowledge about what shoes could be better for me.

This is the best place for high support shoes. Everyone working is very helpful and knowledgeable. I have a very visible scar from ankle surgery and the staff member that helped me was very understanding and accommodating when I asked for a private place to try on.

Love John’s! They are all running enthusiasts but aren’t the snobby kind — everyone is a runner/walker when you walk in their doors. They can identify your shoe a MILE away (seriously) and can recommend newer shoes based on your needs and budget while making specific recommendations to help you reach a better speed, new PR, longer distance, or just avoid an injury! They also have regular events and activities one of the best running calendars I’ve ever seen (online). Join one of their many run groups if you’d like too. My favorite part, BY FAR: their database that remembers your preferred shoes and SIZE! This makes it easy to just call and order over the phone and pick up in person. Thanks, John’s!

Went in knowing nothing about what I needed in a shoe except something that didn't make my feet throb at the end of the day. I am older, overweight, and have some foot issues like a fallen metatarsal, diabetic neuropathy, and plantar fasciitis. But, I stand all day on concrete at work and I am trying to walk more for my health. It would have been so easy for someone to disregard these issues and just stick me in a pair of pricey shoes and tell me to hope for the best. However, the associate was so very helpful and took his time to put me in two pairs of shoes that were PERFECT for my needs...one for standing at work and one for walking. I have been walking so much more now with these supportive, comfy shoes! They analyze your gate and wear pattern on your current shoes and actually listen to what you tell them. How they do this takes a lot more time and effort, but in the end, was exactly what I needed. I can definitely end up spending way more time and money getting shoes that are terrible for my feet than if I just go to John's and let their expertise steer me in the right direction. Love love love this store!

I’ve gone to John’s for shoes ever since I ran x-country at Transy in 2005 and I’m impressed every time. Great selection and super helpful staff! I live in Boston and come to John’s every time I come home! These new Altria kicks are flyyyyy!

This was my first time in the store but not my last! My trainer recommended Johns and I’m happy he did! I have plantar fasciitis and the associate who helped me quickly identified shoes for me to try and watched me walk around the store. I don’t enjoy shopping and I appreciate friendly straight-to-the point service and that is what I received! I love my shoes and my compression sock! Thanks again!

We have been buying our walking shoes and sandals here for years and always get good advice about what shoe will best fit our needs. My husband and I both have orthopedic issues, and we can rely on the staff at John's to be knowledgeable, non-pushy, and thorough. It is rare to find staff who know as much as John's staff does about their brands and the type of shoe for different activities. We recommend them.

The gentleman that helped me get fitted was wonderful and knowledgeable. We had a great time chatting while finding a shoe that would be fitting to restart my running routine after an ankle surgery.

I started having a lot of foot pain over 2 months ago that just never let up. Saw my doctor who told me problems were from too many years in the wrong shoes. He told me I needed a good shoe and cushioned inserts. I decided to try this place on my wife’s recommendation, and as usual she was dead on right.

They asked what problems I was having, studied my walk and foot positioning, and then recommended 3 shoes and a specific insert. After only 4 days I am pain free for the first time in months!

I wish I had the young lady’s name that helped me because she was definitely worthy of being recognized for her great customer service. She was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and I won’t go anywhere else after this experience.

My girlfriend and I had the BEST experience at John’s Run/Walk! The employees were so friendly and helpful but not pushy at all! We weren’t buying shoes this time but she found a great deal on some apparel and I bought a new hat! They didn’t have the style I was looking for out, but I asked about them and they went down to the stockroom and got one for me! They went above and beyond and made me feel welcome! They’re a staple of the Lexington running community and it’s clear to see why!
