Ruggiero's Ace Hardware - South Hill

The gal in guest services named “mud” went above and beyond helping me return a seasonal item. She was over the top helpful even though I didn’t have a receipt. By helping to look up the ACE account #, then finding the date of service and exact total match to my credit card history of transactions - she took my unused item back for a full refund. 10/10 service

Update 2/25/24 After being frustrated, I wanted to update my review. They did find the part in the back room after my prior review and update below. They went out of their way to contact me and offer it if I still wanted it. I did end up going back and purchasing. I also want to add that their store reconfiguration and increased product variety is great and helpful. Lastly, employees have been more helpful and I appreciate having this ace as an option on the upper south hill. My original post is below.

8/24/23 - Ordered pickup online available today. Went slightly before closing and said they couldn’t find the item, but the night crew will get it out. If I had known they wouldn’t fulfill the order today, I would have had free delivery for Monday. They said online is wrong and they only do free delivery for over $300 so we would have to pay extra for delivery. Terrible customer service all around.

Update 8/28/23 order canceled for no reason given. Some communication would be nice.

Lost, trying to find winter gloves....I passed by several employees, tried to get anyone's attention, and as I was about to give up.....a lovely voice from across the store says " do you need some help?"
Mud, yes, a lovely lady named Mud came to my rescue, walked me to what I was looking for, and then rang me up.
She restored the jingle in my heart
" Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks" Give that lady a raise !

Went to Walmart and Home Depot,
For a product. Neither store had the product I needed. Called Ace Hardware, on South Hill, they had the product I needed. At the store Jim, an employee for Ace, was very helpful in obtaining the product that I needed.

This place is amazing. Building a camper van, make many (too many) trips here. New store is fantastic, the fastener selection is 2nd to none.

I went in looking for old work low Voltage boxes and dress plates but could not find any. Great selection other wise.

I don’t live close to this Ace but I always drive down here. They always have what I need, customer service is great, and prices are competitive! Worth the trip every time.

My old Weber grill had seen better days! I went to Ace looking for their entry level Weber (Spirit series). I saw that they had the one, but it was unassembled. One of their associates (Rick) said that they may have one pre-assembled in the back. He wheeled it out and I could see that it was not the best quality and that for another $150 I could upgrade to this Genesis. He explained all the components are nicer. Im ready to take it home and realized it was about 1 inch too big to fit in the back of our SUV. He said he had a truck and he would be happy to deliver it. He followed me to my home and help me set it up. He told me they take 45 minutes to set up. I have found that it usually takes me twice the amount of time thats represented. Instead of setting up a grill, I am off to a hike with my family. Could not be happier with the awesome service provided by Rick & Ace South Hill Hardware!!

My mom and I went here to find some mouse traps.
It was difficult to find, since the store is under renovation.
Jim was helpful and the cashier was friendly, as well.

Everyone was very helpful. From my telephone conversation before I went. I wanted to be sure that I had what I wanted before I drove there.

Kendrick and Kayla are wonderful. They were super friendly and went above and beyond helping my boyfriend and I get storage containers. I love this store it seems like everyone there is dope.

Decent prices and selection on items. Definitely some things worth buying elsewhere if you plant to buy in bulk for instance but for odds and ends this place is great.

Spike is terrific! I was looking for Bubble Wrap; no one could find it. Everyone was great, but Spike went above and beyond to track it down for me (it was in the back.) Super helpful. Keep that guy!

great place if you need help or just some parts to compleate your project

The store was kind of a mess early this year, but I went in the other day and wow I was impressed. Looking forward to see more exciting updates! Love this spot!

They always try to have a little of everything so it makes it easy to go there.
