Taj Indian Grocery & Sweets

The only Indian store in the Salem area. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. They don’t have the largest of collection but pretty much have all the basic necessities for Indian cooking.

The lady is also very helpful is finding things in the store if you are lost. I usually am able to find some fresh vegetables in the store but otherwise they do let you know if they are going to be in stock soon

I have been going to this store for over three years. I can't say enough great things about Jenny. She is a kind and wonderful human being, and a good store keeper/owner. The She has ordered things for me on demand many times, and saved me a trip to Portland. Just talk to her!
The collection is pretty basic and enough for day to day needs. Like I said, she is happy to order things if you let her know in advance.

Great store with very reasonable prices. I’m starting to cook Indian curries and stopped by to stock my spice cabinet. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable and was happy to point me in the right direction as far as what to buy.
This will be a frequent stop whenever I need to resupply.

Our go to place for Indian cooking supplies. Plus they had little globe eggplants in the fridge! A nice treat to add with our roasted veggie dinner! Always helpful and friendly! Glad to have this story in Salem.

This is a great gem in Salem for lndian groceries and fresh desserts. The owner is a beautiful, friendly person and was so helpful. This seems to also be the only place in town that carries rose water. 🌹

I was looking for this particular brand in&around Tigard but was able to get it from this store. Shelves are well stocked and sorted. Finally the drive is justified 😀

They have various pickles including lime pickle, my favorite, and paneer cheese and other hard to find ingredients. So glad it's local for me because I want to learn to cook better Indian food.

Always friendly and have a large variety of DIY food items you won't find on the shelf at the typical grocery store. A lot of items are used in many kinds of dishes all over the world, but the ingredients are inconvenient if not non-existent to obtain. Not here ! I bet they have it !

A nice clean little shop. I found all of the things to make some Rasmalai (an Indian dessert) that my boyfriend has been craving. The cashier was very helpful in explaining what some of the products were and seemed pleasantly surprised that I was attempting to make homemade Indian food! A lovely store, with kind staff. I will definitely be back.

Great customer service. We get informed about the arrival of fresh veggies promptly. Very good about ordering special items, if not in store. One stop store for Indian groceries within 40 miles radius around Salem.

This is the only place in Salem that sells the dried marrowfat peas that I love so much, as well as specialty spice blends, rice, and candy from the sub-continent. It also smells fantastic from the spices.

I shopped here today for the first time. I'm trying some new recipes and needed some items not available at a normal American grocery store. The nice lady working there helped me immensely. It was a bit overwhelming at first trying to find some of the herbs and spices since there's so many! Great experience and I'll definitely go there again.

Great selection of specialty Indian foods. Tiny little produce section with interesting items, and a great freezer section. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. They even sell maroon henna hair dye, made my hair look amazing.

Any time I need spices, I make my way here. Staff is respectful and friendly. It is always clean and there are always good finds!

A very kind women I met who I assume owns the store, was very helpful to me. Also, so many wonderful and unique items from India! Such a fun and inviting environment. I recommend stopping by soon, you may be surprised what you discover.

The lady working today was very nice. She helped me find what I was looking for and didn’t hover or make me feel rushed while I browsed. I saw lots of interesting things to try but I don’t know enough about Indian foods to know where to start. I’m gonna do some research and go back soon! Highly recommend!
