The Original Whistle Stop

This is one of few model train stores business left in the southland. Bring up my childhood memories about the hobby story, and I used to put small model cars, trains and planes together. Luckily it locates around the corner and the owner is talking very friendly. They have plenty of train sets and accessories in the selection. Highly recommend to train hobby lovers.

They are very welcoming and can provide good advice on repairs/ work on your model trains. They have a great selection of books and dvds to assist you on your model railroad adventure. They don't have a lot of N scale rolling stock or buildings. Despite the minimal N scale, if that is a scale you are working with, they do provide some basic things like couplers and track to assist you on your journey. For other scale they have a lot of things to get your started or help you continue modeling.

Memories of my childhood! Yes, items in this store may be priced higher than the internet, but that extra amount funds the experience....rent, wages, inventory. This isn't Amazon, and I for one am thankful for that! The sights, the smells, the conversations....take you back to a time when trains and model railroading were a community experience. Bring your young kiddos here, help them to be excited about something more than a cellphone screen. Very thankful this time capsule still exists. Enjoy it while you can!

Outstanding model train store! If you like trains you must visit this store. Besides having trains of all sizes they have the materials to build your own train layout. They also do repairs and the people that work there don't just sell Trains they know all about them and appreciate Trains. When there be sure to look up to see the model train suspended from the ceiling as well as the full size real life vintage train items.

This is a super chill gym. Love the atmosphere and the outdoor machine area. Early morning here is the best time

Got my first model trains here 20 years ago. It's exactly how I remember it and it brings me the same joy now as it did then. This place should be a historic landmark.

I have been a customer of the Whistle Stop for 40 years. I have never been in a hobby store with such a wide selection of railroad books, kits, parts, as well as new and used brass. The staff is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The store's focus is on model trains (I don't think they carry anything else). There are also many not-for-sale items on display for your enjoyment. The owners, Fred and Judy Hill, are *very* involved in the model railroad industry, as well as preservation, and have hosted several national conventions. You really can't go wrong by visiting this great store and you will find it very hard to leave empty-handed or with more than you came for.

Great store. Repaired my Walthers Proto SP E9A. They don't have a huge collection, but it is a pretty good one, with lots of track. They also have a pretty nice model layout.

The staff were very easy to talk to and were very helpful as well. I bought a Norfolk southern grain car by intermountain that I thought was very fairly priced. You will have to ask for kadee couplers at the counter because they keep them behind the cashier. Would go back again!

My friend George was like a kid in a candy store that 85 years old man that never seen so many train specialty items and all of his life. The folks will go to Great Lengths to make sure that your trains are the best they can be. They even do repairs

I bought an Athearn train set there for my kid and was I was provided with friendly service and advice. Bill was fantastic. We need to support small mom and pop businesses like this over Amazon and major online stores.

Very nice store. Fred Hill is a very nice person. I have lived in Guatemala since 2008 but when I visited the U.S., I always went to the store. Very good selection and nice employees. Very knowledgeable. 5 stars.

I was inspired by the Dream Suite in Disneyland. Walt Disney installed a G train that goes around the room for his children. I started searching online and found the Whistle Stop. The store is amazing with everything you could possibly imagine for trains. I went in 3 times with lots of questions and finally decided on the LGB. All of the staff that worked with me to answer questions were very nice, knowledgable and helpful. 5 stars because these guys are experts at what they do, trains. I'm a fan and loving my new LGB train set! Special thanks to Martin, Alex and everyone else who helped me pick out the right train.

Fun fun fun. Every month like clockwork. My Dad remembers when "Ol Fred" was just a young man working behind the counter. But then again, that was when my Dad was also a young man with $1 gas in the tank of the studebaker and some money burning a hole in his pocket.

I've been coming here since I was introduced to model railroading by a friend in 1984 (at their old location). Always friendly and helpful. They make you feel like old friends.

This is the best place to find all supplies you would need to make a diorama's. They have it all. This is where i go when i have to make a diorama for my kids school projects.

Excellent place to go for all your hobbies needs. Excellent staff and you feel like a kid again looking all train models.

I appreciated all the staffs help. They have just about everything to make a smaller Train Town. They also have books and magazines on trains.
