Up Front Bait and Tackle

One of the best bait and tackle stores I’ve ever been to! The owner of the store is up to date, priced right, and extremely knowledgeable. During the off season of fishing I need new rods and reels and he ordered me the perfect ones and got them in at a great time!

By far the nicest bait shop owner I've ever met. Aside from having everything I needed, all Steve wanted for me was to catch fish. He didn't hold back any information and made sure to put me right on them. If you're ever in the area, make sure to go no where else for your bait and tackle needs!

Been going there for a few years since my boat was moved nearby. The owner will sell you something cheaper than what you asked for, because it's working better for others. He will not upsell you at all. Offered to help me source a part for a reel I got elsewhere. Always gives good advice and has fresh bait. He gets my money for all my fishing needs.

I want to give a respectable shout-out to Up Front Bait & Tackle in NJ for having the juiciest baits I've ever seen.. When shopping, I usually act dumb and ask stupid questions just to mess around with people and to find out what the establishment is really about.... I got to say Steve and Rob are two genuine dudes from NJ who have a lot of integrity in their work... I would take an extra 30 minutes from my trip to fish just to cop bait from them. They have custom plugs and bait that I've never seen anywhere else and when I tested them for fishing reports, they were on the money!!!... This is our go to bait stop when fishing in Keansburg and Keyport. We get our bloodworms, killies and clams here. They have a great selection of tackle and other fishing needs. The hospitality and personability is what keeps me coming back.

Great shop and amazingly friendly and helpful people. Steve spent nearly 30 minutes teaching me about different baits and hooks and even set up my son's rod for catching catfish. The kid caught one on his first cast. Definitely worth the visit!!

I went with my son. Having no idea what I wanted or even needed, Steve was extremely patient with us and steered us towards what would suit our needs. He then spent 30 minutes teaching my son everything he needed to know to get started. Above and beyond anything I would have ever expected. Great products and service. Definitely recommended.

This tackle shop is awesome. The owner is really knowledgeable. I went in one evening to get some hooks and bait, walked out with a new Tica rod. He tested the rod with you holding it to make sure you won’t have any problems with it. I would recommend this shop to anyone and everyone I come across needing info about tackle and fishing stuff. I will be going back to this shop for all my fishing needs.

Honest and very respectful on where the fish are and bait intell

Great spot to pick up bait on the way to the shore. They always have the bait that I need and the owner is very knowledgeable. They have everything I need when I am going surf fishing or fishing off a pier somewhere.

This place is excellent from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. I’m just starting to learn the. Ins and outs of fishing and the gentleman showed me what I need, how to hook it, and even how to tie a knot (the proper way for a fish line). They were so helpful and didn’t even try to push what you don’t need on you. The place itself is immaculate and they truly make you feel like hone when you walk in. They know there stuff and will definitely be going back there. I’d you need bait hooks fishing gear or advice, this is the place.

Steve is the best fishermans friend. Steve and his patrons knowledge of the area is priceless. Buy some bait ask a ton of questions. Has all the equipment you need from crabbing to Tuna.
