Buyers Beware!

We had gotten our shades and drapes from an out of state vendor and were seeking professional installation. Neal, the owner, was an acquaintance I had recently met through our children's school so I trusted him to do the job. He provided an incredibly high quote, $1100 for 3 hrs of labor, but we accepted. From the beginning he treated us poorly. He kept delaying the install and when he finally provided the service that we paid in full for he only completed 75% of the installation and 4 of the 17 shades his laborer installed were done incorrectly leaving our windows unable to open and close.

Naturally I asked for a modest return of $200 for our inconvenience and he complained that he would lose money on the deal even though he admits he did not complete the work that we contracted him to do. He blamed being behind on his taxes as one of the reasons why he couldn't complete the install and that he only took the job to do us a favor. $1100 for 3 hrs of work is hardly a favor to anyone.

This is how he treats people he knows. Imagine how he treats people he doesn't know. Bottom line the work quality provided was poor, overpriced and the customer service was abysmal. There are many other providers to choose from that will provide better quality and better service.

UPDATE: Where we got the shades/drapes from is immaterial to the situation. Neal provided a quote, we accepted the quote, Neal accepted the job, didn't complete the work, and did a poor job on the work we contracted him to do. No we did not buy inventory for him, but we paid him for service and as you can tell by his response he didn't provide it, and has a serious lack of professionalism
