Ax-Man literally has Anything and Everything you can think of. It's so awesome, we call it The Barney Bag store! 😄 From odd things, to useful, to cool, and weird, you're likely to find what you need (and don't need) in here. Perfect place to go for your unique crafts, kids school projects, homemade balm/oils/elixir etc. supplies, kids fidgets, and much much much more! I got my kids costumes from here, and even stocked up on girl scouts tshirts for the whole troop. I have creative artsy kids, so this is perfect for us especially when they have cool ideas for art pieces or inventions they want to jam out on. Prices are great, the store is wildly organized (you have to visit to get it), and the staff is welcoming, friendly, and helpful.

So. Much. Fun. Sorta like Archie McFee, but way better. Whosits and whatsits galore! This is the first place I go to if I'm looking for something very specific and/or weird. Also a great time just browsing the sheer madness that is their wacky and wild inventory! So many projects, so little time.

This store is a real treat! Unique, random, oddities & useful trinkets you didn't know you needed! Street parking only. Plan to spend at minimum 1.5 hours to stop and look at every nook & cranny of the store which is filled wall to wall, floor to ceiling. No carts, but take a basket to carry all your treasures. If you have small children I would suggest a stroller for safety. Very busy & a lot going on. Staff is always so cool. Truly one of my favorite stores. Today WE MADE the $100 club! Love this place!

I can't get enough of this place! It's a mix of Digikey and RadioShack meets some other random surplus store. It has everything I never knew I needed and suddenly can't live without. An excellent store for anyone working on their own projects from electrical to mechanical to clothing. Take the family and be prepared to be lost in your imagination there.

I love this place! You never know what things you will find. I went there in search of mini glass bottles for my plants. I found a bunch of great craft stuff super cheap. I got some wooden dowels cheap and in a uncommon size. The treasure this trip was a super cool plastic glove that turned into a terrarium. Some items like the bottles, they have regularly, for .25 to 20$. They have some beautiful lab beakers. They have canvas and felt by the yard. They have fun and quirky kitchen items to a modge podge of tools. It's really a fun place to go!

You can buy anything and everything at this store. The employees were super nice. My husband broke something and they had the most positive, relaxed reaction ever. Definitely a fun place to go.

Ax-Man was one of our first excursions in Saint Paul, and I spent 2 hours in their step motor section alone. Great place for just about anything electronics can ask for, as well as vintage gauges and testers.

We love Ax-Man. It’s always a neat experience wandering the aisles, reading the item cards..you might laugh, you might be confused, but either way, it’s pretty amazing. If you’re looking for things you’ve never imagined or something you think you’ll never find, Ax-Man is a great place to check out! Please never change 👽

This is a fun place to get odds and ends, craft, art, and electrical things, supplies, as well as things you never knew you needed. What makes it especially fun are the comments and artwork drawn, made, and assembled by various things. By the way, face masks are required if you wish to shop.

I'm feeling confident now, because when someone asks me, "Do you know where I can get an iron lung?", I have Axman St. Paul saved in Maps.
I love this store-they also have great stuff for making fauxbots, all kinds of DIY supplies for projects like wiring and plumbing, electronics, science lab glass (it's beautiful!) waterproof aprons, and Prom Queen sashes. Pay attention to every bin label and especially to any handmade signs. Whoever writes all these probably does stand-up at a swank comedy club after the store closes.
Pack a lunch, stay all day. Do that a few times, and you may finally have (cumulatively) made it all the way around the store. Then you have to start at the beginning again, bc you know, new inventory...

Ax Man is an experience, not just an excellent place to buy tape. Yes, tape. You obviously haven't seen the pink and black zebra stripe variety. Oh well. There's still rubber chickens, if you need them. And...

An awesome supply of things you didn't know you needed! Like wooden snakes. Magnifying glasses. Beakers for your laboratory, which I sincerely hope is not of the meth type.

There is an arsenal of 1980s electronic doohickies to build your own flux capacitor. And slingshots to accompany your journey into the future. Or the past. And if so, you probably want to stock up on family reunion paraphernalia, circa 1995.

I come here with a mind that one day I will see the Chinese army snow goggles again, colorful, collapsible, and one of the greatest things of 2009. Until then I will have to settle for the DDR regular army flat cap. And a folding shovel for digging latrines. Still on the fence about the polar fleece jumpsuit, though...

If you are having trouble figuring this all out, just trust the signage. Very helpful little signs are all over the store, painstakingly detailed and deeply insightful as well. I believe they are made by a comedian who they keep in the basement.

Thank you Ax-Man! I promise to never shop with open-toed shoes in your store! Love you!

Been going there for over 50 years. Always find something good. We were looking for a desk bell, and sure enough, they had exactly what we wanted!

Good for browsing for things that you can build electronic devices with or material (not that big of a variety but it’s cheap .. the employees don’t know nothing about nothing so know what your looking for because you won’t get any help with much. But the employees are really nice just not helpful..

The weirdest store full of the weirdest stuff you didn't know you needed. If we lived locally, we'd be here regularly. It's a gem we're glad w discovered.

This place is super awesome! TONS of random weird stuff and so many small electronics bits and pieces. Go there and make sure you have plenty of time to browse.

Always a treasure... Ax-Man Surplus.
Think of it like having the very best junk drawer, nicely organized, with all the bits and oddities that make a junk drawer such a useful household staple... Only it's a store. And they have bags into which you may place your purchases... (If the stuff you buy fits into, you know, the bag. )

There's always something here I can use - either as is, or as a part for some other thing I'm fixing or making, that even a quality junk drawer at home could never supply.

Like plastic tubing.

Or unuseful ladles.

Just go see for yourself. The employee produced signage alone is worth the trip!

Finally got to visit one of the Ax Man locations on vacation, we made it a point to be able to go to one of the stores based on one of the YouTubers we watch. Store did not disappoint! A must visit for anyone into bulk and surplus and old electronics. Would have picked up a few things if we could have flown home with them.

This store is so amazing, there is always an adventure when you enter there doors, however it's there kind, helpful, knowledgeable, attentive team of hard working passionate individuals that has consistently provided excellent quality service in this community for many years. I highly recommend a trip here for everyone.
