This place has such a great vibe, and their coffee and tea flavors are as varied as their musical collection. Pumpkin Spice Chai with Coconut Milk is my new favorite go-to, but I can't say I've ever had a bad experience here.

I'm a huge believer in Magic. When I came to Hillsdale for the yearly conference at the college, I thought I knew exactly the types of stores and restaurants would be here.

Until I found Checker Records. This is a classic record store with a twist. They serve coffee.
Good coffee.
Think of this place like a bookstore/coffee joint but with music instead of books.
Good music, too.
Checker John is the local music guru and along with his wife and a staff of what can only be devotees to the music-coffee cause. Together, they have created a unique space for people to congregate, enjoy some time together over a cup of coffee with great music playing.

Great little shop with an owner with passion for what he does and music! Glad I don’t live closer because I would be spending a lot of money at this great little store! And the coffee was superb!

I used to go there when I was a kid and now he makes coffee. Love this place. It sure brings back memories. His coffee is freaking good. I got the teddy bear and bought coffee called comfortably numb. Drinks named after bands love it.

Been going here for years they have a good variety of music in store and have even hunted down some hard to find ones for me it's got a good atmosphere great friendly owners and delicious coffee to sip while you browse

Always love coming in here. I only make it up to Michigan a couple times a year, and every time I do, a frozen Prince of Darness with 3 shots of espresso is a must.

Hands down some of the best coffee around. The people are super awesome. My team and I appreciate everyone there that puts up with our ridiculous orders, guys rock!

I love checker records! This place has been around forever! John is awesome! We go here frequently over any other coffee shop! The coffee is on point and so much to choose from! While waiting for coffee there is alot of awesome stuff to browse in the store! Personal favorite! Such a treat to go here! The muffins are tasty too!

I loved this store/bakery/coffee shop. The young lady help me out. I had the poppyseed muffin. It was wonderful. If you are a music lover you will like this wonderful gem

Best coffee ever, better than every chain, and every flavor I had so far blew my mind. I recommend the Beatles and BB King iced coffee. Yum.

Drove an hour to pick up a vinyl from them that was very hard to come by. The owner was so sweet and helped make sure I was able to I get my hands on it. The shop is so cute and definitely a gem in Hillsdale. Lots of unique vinyl and an adorable cafe!

Their Travis City Cherry coffee is the best around.

Yes! If you want coffee, yes it's amazing and fresh! If you want a muffin, yes it's soft and everything you could ask for in a breakfast item.
This place is so festive and very nice. I love the atmosphere! So if you're looking for a great place for coffee and breakfast, just go!

I’ve been coming here since I was in the 9the grade and I’ve always loved it. I HATED coffee until I tried the drinks at checker records! We used to walk there all the time in high school and we’d occasionally buy some music, and it’s always been one of my favorite places in town. It’s a unique place with an amazing theme and I’ve caught myself dancing and singing to the music there on several occasions. The coffee is still the best I’ve ever had NO competition. It’s always so nice to come in in the morning and the people already know my order.

Everyone is always so friendly and the coffee is fantastic. There's so many different things you can get. My friend and I love the pumpkin rolls, and she says they have the best chai tea. I personally love chocolate, so I always get an Ozzy.
