Loft Mountain Wayside

Enjoying a ride along the Crest of Shenandoah National Park? Stop by thr Loft Mountain Wayside and have a refreshing snack. There is a store and grill. Picnic tables are right out the side door in the sun or shade. If the weather is uncomfortable, there is seating inside. Enjoy

Visited end of May 2023 (memorial day weekend). It was opened and had a great selection of merch and apparel. They also had snacks and other personal care items if you forgot anything. There was a restaurant connected next to it if you wanted a bite to eat. We just stopped by quickly to use the bathrooms and grab a couple of items like pins and hiking medallions.

There are also have a specific national park passport cancellation stamp here for Loft Mountain for those who are in it to collect them all. We visited earlier in March 2023 but the wayside was not yet open.

In a pinch this is a great stop for food/snacks and a break in between hikes or if you're just cruising skyline drive. Lots of picnic tables outside and plenty of parking while we visited on Friday around 11AM.

They have clean restrooms, food made to order, and snacks and soda when you're in a rush. I'll happily stop by again when I'm on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

A very convenient and helpful store in the Shenandoah National Park. They have all kinds of things including snacks and food.

Enjoyed the wayside in 2017 and in returning, the latest visit in 2023. Think of it as rustic fast food with pleasant service.

Vegetable salad with turkey was lovely. The staff were pleasant, friendly and focused. Quiet, peaceful setting indoors and outdoors! Near Loft Mt Campground. Gift store....where I bought Shenandoah Black Bear Blackberry wine...WOW...liquid blackberries....Be sure to buy a bottle of you enjoy blackberries!

Nice clean Visitors Center. Great Hostess Labor Day afternoon.

It's worth going all the way up to the camp store -- it's well stocked.

The 2 lady Rangers at the mobile info station were a wealth of info & our pup Loved them as well !

This place is great. Fantastic cheeseburger. When you're in Shenandoah NP, make sure you treat yourself to the black raspberry ice cream they make in the park. It's amazing!

Enjoyed the Cheeseburger and Fries with a Mocha Shake. Tried the blackberry ice cream earlier in the day, it also was good and a generous scoop. We ate near closing time and the employees were pleasant and friendly to talk with. They also made sure we had anything we needed. As we were the only ones sitting outside at the tables on the deck, everything was peaceful and enjoyable.

Stopped in for something to eat. Found out cafe was closed for season. Gift shop had snacks and drinks to hold us over. Gift shop was typical for park. I was able to buy a ball cap and post cards.

Beautiful views, visited Shenandoah for the first time with my wife and our two year old. Skyline Drive is a must see for any looking to be humbled and amazed at the mountain views. Park Rangers were exceptional and we learned that National Parks offer a Military Pass for Active Duty and Veterans which allows free access to parks across the nation. We will definitely be returning for another adventure!

The smashburger was so good. But way to expensive. Pack a lunch when you go on the parkway.

Had more merchandise than the larger visitor center.
Also, the poor young woman working the store was doing a great job enforcing mask policy. She offered masks to a couple who entered without masks when they said they had none. They refused, so she politely yet firmly stated No Mask, No Service, as is the Park's policy. They huffed out saying they'll take their business elsewhere.
The diligence of front line workers attempting to follow the rules in order to keep EVERYONE safe in these times of COVID are not paid enough to be constantly berated for doing their job.

Nice stop on the skyline drive Virginia.

A little surprise!! I had been looking for passport stamps and was so happy when they had one. Also got some delicious moon pies and gifts to remember the trip.

This is a great stop while traveling the Skyline Drive through the Shenandoah Valley National Park. They have restrooms, a store for some souvenirs, items make in the Shenandoah Valley, and other needs, and a small food/restuarant area. They have simple fast food type menu but they do have some special ice cream available. Try the Blackberry Ice Cream!! They have some delicious homemade jams and jellies!!
