Complete, full service, backpacker, hiker, camper store. The staff are well traveled and have used the products they sell. This store has been around for quite a while and is known for being helpful, knowledgeable and supportive. A mainstay in the camping, and hiking community. They offer a full line of products for the day hiker up to someone preparing for a long hike. They can supply all your needs for any trip.

Excellent experience with the staff and owners. They were extremely knowledgeable, took their time helping me, and truly wanted to get me the gear that would help the most post-injury. Would definitely recommend for the personal touch and knowledge that you can’t always get at the big box stores!

Ordered hiking boots and bought a tent today. Tried at-least a dozen different boots and the staff made it their mission to get exactly what I needed. Even set the tent up to make sure I knew exactly what I was getting. Definitely different than all of the big box stores I’ve been to in the past. Do yourself a favor and shop here.

Appalachian Outfitters is absolutely a premier store of this type. The owners and the employees really know their products, and are highly experienced and can make numerous recommendations around products and how to use them. They worked very hard with me as I was having a difficult time finding boots that fit. I cannot overemphasize how wonderful this shop is.

Someone recently referred me to Appalachian Outfitters for hiking shoes. My current ones were too stiff and hand me downs from my sons. I made a special trip there and they are so much more than just hiking stuff.all the staff were super helpful and friendly. I purchased some Topos with a wide toe box and more cushioning for longer hikes. As biz owner of Energy Fitness in Greenville/TR area) and someone that loves to encourage my clients and others to get outdoors and enjoy exercise and nature this place is a must stop for gear. There are so many places to get some great hiking in.this area. The store is near the Haywood mall. Go check it out. I know i will be back.

First time in but not my last. Johnathan and his wife were more than helpful. Best store for hiking and getting outdoors. Their knowledge of the products and not just for sales was awesome. I look forward to my next trip there!

We were so impressed with the service at this store. Jonathan fitted me for hiking boots and hiking poles. But not only that he explained what and why he was doing what he did. We will definitely go back. Already told me daughter and she is going to go there next time she is in town. Highly recommend them.

Great spot with very knowledgeable, friendly staff. They had me try on several boots and helped me find the right pair. I was so pleased I took my wife there later and she had a similar experience.

I cannot say enough good things about this place.. the owners are, from what I can tell, always on site and ready to accommodate your needs. I really believe they understand the value of exceptional customer service. I went in a couple of days ago to peruse and ended up purchasing these bungee-type shoelaces that I hadn't the first idea of how to lace, only that they would work better on the trails. The owner asked if my shoes were with me, so I grabbed them out of the car and he proceeded to measure and lace them right there... such a nice gesture (and they worked like a charm too). This is the type of experience I have every time, and why I'll always go back. Their store isn't large, but they make sure to carry the best products, making the most of their space. They're also carrying a larger selection of their own printed shirts now, which are eye-catching and cozy. The only thing that could make it better would be maybe a little background music, but still. 12/10, indefinitely. Thank you guys for what you do!

I’m kicking myself for not stopping here sooner! Grew up shopping at another smaller store close to my home and after the customer service went downhill, I wanted to try somewhere new that was not a huge mega store. Really impressed with the organization and selection of this store. But mostly I was really pleased with how friendly everyone there was. Can’t wait to come back and chat some more. Exceptional customer service! I was greeted immediately upon entering. The salesman spent nearly an hour with me finding the perfect shoe for my needs. Truly amazing! You cannot go wrong with this store. They won't be satisfied until you find the shoe that is just right for you!

On a whim, I popped into the store today to pick up a jacket while traveling. The team was knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly helpful. I wish I lived closer so I could visit more often but I highly recommend to anyone looking for great outdoor gear and helpful insight.

I came here based off the previous reviews about their wonderful customer service and let me tell you, their customer service is exceptional! Best experience I’ve ever had in an outdoor store. The owner measured my shoe size and brought out multiple styles for me to try. He was very knowledgeable about the features of each shoe. This is the place to go for any outdoor needs!
