Great staff and selection; hopefully they'll consider adding some Maryland wine in the future!

Very good wine selection. I wish they had a wider beer selection, but they tend to cover all the bases even if they don’t have exactly what you want. I appreciate that they carry many local brews.
I have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

The store is now being renovated now, so hopefully it will be even better. But it's been my "go to" place for great wines and beers since 2000. The owners are characters but with great heart. The sales guys are terrific. Funny/diverse/smart ! Prices are high - Hey Now. It's Bethesda - but it's close to my house and they have parking in front of the store.

Extremely personable staff, great selection, reasonable prices. The growler fills are nice. Cant comment on the wine as I only go for beer, but it’s a great store and a good time.

Everyone here is so incredibly helpful. My husband and I stop in once a week, and if they don't have something they always make sure to get it for us!
One of the best beer and wine selections in the area,

Well, here I am reviewing a beer and wine shop.. we've hit that point. But you know what, that's okay.

Let's just say I'm at this place far too often (not often enough?). My main reason for choosing this store is a lazy one: convenience. It's within a half mile of my house. There are definitely major pros and a couple minor cons to this particular beer and wine shop:

Pros:
1) The selection! I mean, if you want to try a new beer that you've never had and you're in the Bethesda/Rockville area, this is your place. The owner seems to have an interest in keeping oddities on the shelf, which makes me a big fan.

2) Location - this may be a perk that's particular to a smaller number of people that live close, but for the others, it is still valuable. This shop is right next to Giant. Grabbing groceries? Stop in and pick up a bottle (box) of wine. Working out at WSC next door? Great job burning all those calories! Now go replace them with a nice cold brew. Buying a new iPhone at the Verizon next door? Celebrate with some bubbly.

3) The staff is probably my favorite B&W staff around. Very knowledgeable and actually seem like they're happy to talk to you about different types of beer (I've never really talked wine with them). I'm always happy to talk to these guys.

Cons:
1) The prices are slightly high, even relative to other nearby places. No, they're not as high as wine prices at Balducci's accross the street, but if you have the time to drive 3 miles to the alcohol shop in Cabin John, you'll save yourself some $$. Example: the wine I like getting is regular priced at $24 at Georgetown Square vs $19 at Cabin John. That's nearly 20% less. Cabin John severely lacks in beer options and does have the perk of liquor, plus better wine prices, but since I'm more of a beer guy, I go to Georgetown Square for the options and buy my wine there as well out of convenience.

2) Rotates almost too quickly. Sometimes I fall in love with some beer that's was a small new oddity, then I can never get it again. It's like they get you hooked, then take it away. I know this is a weak con, but doesn't make it less true (in my case, anyway).

Overall:
Love this place. Great selection (both beer and wine), great staff, so-so prices, good location, and open fairly late. I considered giving 4 stars rather than 5 due to the higher prices, but when they experiment with so many different beers and have a storefront on Old Georgetown, I suppose they need to fund those costs somehow. 5 stars!

I simply love this place: the selection, the location, the prices, but most importantly the people working there. You guys are amazing! I’ve been going there since I moved to Bethesda in 2007 and hope to still go for many years to come. Cheers!

Great selection and very friendly. Mo is the best. People complaining about prices need to understand they have to pay rent in a VERY expensive area.

These guys have a damn website! They are always friendly at the counter. Sometimes one or two of their coolers, or even their AC breaks down, but they always seem to stay open through it all.
