I had amazing customer service from Dan. I had ordered several things for my son's birthday, Dan kept me posted about delays and then was able to miraculously get everything together and shipped. I would recommend Kings Hobby for anyone looking for a great selection of model trains and accessories and fantastic customer service.

I did an order online of two paint sets They let me know the next day that neither of what I wanted was available and on back order. They offered to send me all the paints individually (except one was out of stock) not charge me anymore and refund me for the one they didn’t have. In my experience most places would say tuff luck out of stock. Truly 5 stars. Ironically I lived in Austin at one point and if I still did I would battle the insane traffic to make this my local hobby shop

I have used King's Hobby only for model train repair, but have had a great experience. I would investigate more of the store, but as it is bit of a drive for me (live in Kyle), I am usually fitting in my visit with other errands.

Had a great time chatting about trains with Amber during my visit. Scooped some N scale stuff and wish I could've bought some more!

I was in from out of town. Amber was awesome to work with. Great staff and great place to find kits.

I hope to do business again

Awesome store if you are into scale models. Small store, but incredible selection and packed full of any kits and accessories you might need. Will definitely be going back.

No other place like it in Austin or anywhere really. They have virtually every hobby paint line. They have kits of all prices so whether you are a veteran or just staring out they will have something for you.

Writing this review as an online shopper. Sadly I do not have an ideal local hobby shop so I'm forced to shop online. I ran across King's from internet searches and based on the online reviews, decided to give them a try. Glad I did, they certainly live up to their online reputation! They had a "hard to find" model that I had been looking for, and they had it at a good price. Shipping was exceedingly efficient and the model arrived in great shape. I'm a fan and will continue to use them whenever I can. :)

They took great care of me getting set up with a train set for a last-minute Christmas gift. Thank you!

Great owner and advice. I spoke to him about wanting to return to my old hobby of model building. He didn't try to upsell me the most expensive products. Instead, he suggested I start small and regain my footing in the hobby. He showed me several less expensive items and the necessary materials to do them well. I’ll be returning to the store soon.

King's is a great local hobby shop. I've been a customer for decades but since I live out of town, I don't get there as often as I would like but it's always worth the trip.

Staff is great, friendly and helpful. Great selection of kits, paints and anything else you need. Check out the consignment section for some great deals on classic kits (or don't, save some for me!)

Be aware they've moved from 8810 N. Lamar. I found myself on autopilot going to the old location and was upset to find it gone! Not to worry, they're still in business a mile south on Lamar.

Thanks for the years of fun, King's!

Excelent little gem tucked into a quiet corner of North Austin. Friendly and helpful staff. Large selection of plastic models and model train supplies.

Trimmed down hobby shop fully stocked for the selection of inventory available. Lots of different brands of paints geared towards the model maker - all brands fully stocked with their range of colors. Good selection of models with heavy emphasis on planes, trains, tanks, and military equipment. The guys behind the counter are super knowledgeable and helpful. They know their inventory and the historical significance of the model and can tell you what variations exist.

I recently got injured and took up building plastic models for the first time in decades to stay busy while I recovered. I was in need of a few things: stopped in for the first time today to grab some paints and weathering effects for a kit I was working on. This is a beautiful space full of kits, supplies, and accessories for the scale modeler. I saw at least 5 kits I wanted to buy and was really impressed with the selection and variety of paints and other finishing products. The woman running the shop was friendly, engaging, and helpful. It felt like the hobby shop I grew up with in my home town 25 years ago, and that's a beautiful feeling. I will be back to spend more money in the future I'm sure. Their 1/35 selection in particular (figures and kits both) was impressive, lots of Tamiya products and all the other major brands, along with some brands I had never heard of. The prices are the same or better than what you will pay on Amazon (if you can even find it there) or specialized online retailers (sprue brothers, et al) for every product I checked. It feels like a good old-fashioned neighborhood hobby store, so I was in nostalgia heaven. I think I'll be stopping in a lot going forward. Check it out if you are into scale models, miniature painting, or any related building/painting hobby. You won't be disappointed!

Nice little hobby store tucked away in a business park. They have a lot of models and a decent selection of trains. There are high end options and collectibles as well as options for those on a budget. Not much in-store for very young kids, suited best for pre-teen+.

Always so much in a relatively small space: this is where I always go for plastic model hobby needs. Their kit prices are good, bit their paint selection is outstanding...and the people are super chill. I don't order much online when I can go out and actually touch the items...visit Kings, it's a good place.

A wonderful little hole in the wall model shop :) and polite and informative service. Its a pain in rear to find but worth the struggle. I may not be able to go back as often as I'd like but you can bet they earned a new customer. I highly recommend this little shop for fellow modelers. It didn't cross my mind to take photos, next visit I will try to remember. Again I strongly recommend this shop
