John’s Run/Walk Shop

I was finally able to come into John’s Run/Walk Shop in Palomar for an upcoming trip to New York! The team helped me look at my walking/stride and find the best fit for me, which happened to be a pair of Brooks! Looking forward to coming back for my next pair!

I live in Richmond, Ky and when I am ready to buy shoes I drive all the way to John’s at Palomar. Why you may ask? Cause, 1st they carry all of the top quality brands and 2nd because they have the personal care, knowledge and help that I am looking for. You go in and you’re greeted with a friendly smile and knowledgeable people that help you right away. I usually go in once every 12-18 months and pick-up one or two pairs. Even if they don’t have the exact style I am looking for. They will order what I want and they don’t even charge me til they come in and I am satisfied with the product. Now that’s what I call real personalized service!! I won’t buy walking or running shoes any where else but here!! You guys are AWESOME 👏!! Thank you for all you do!!!

What else can I say besides: support your local running shop! They’re great and helpful and all that. Sometimes the staff will have differing opinions about what you need, which can be funny, but that just means you need to advocate for what works best for you. I’ve never regretted supporting John’s.

Bought a pair of Hokas and am so happy with them! Christian did a great job with offering me multiple different running shoe options, and I was so impressed with the environment as well as the professionalism and friendliness of all the employees I interacted with. Love my new running shoes the staff helped me find! I explained what I was looking for and they measured my foot and had me walk then brought me a wide range of options to try. I've never tried in asics before so I am very glad they suggested because they are awesome!

I took my wife to John's Run Walk Shop. I am a big time runner so when she decided she wanted to start running with me I was super excited. As always the staff here does a great job in helping you find the perfect shoe to support your feet for whatever activity you are focused on. They are able to analyze you feet and know what kind of support you need. In addition to getting the perfect shoes for her we also found some great deals on shirts and jackets that were on sale. If you are in the need of great supportive shoes then definitely shop here.

Locally owned. Enough said. Actually way more.can be said, extremely knowledgeable and WELL trained employees... If you are new to running, having problems with your feet or knees... Don't go to a doctor... Go to John's! They will fit you based on how you walk, your foot structure so that you can be correctly aligned with your knees and hips which will in turn likely solve your discomfort :)

Always has good selection and the staff are extremely helpful without being overbearing. Prices can be a little high due to the brands and quality of shoes they sell but they always have some kind of major promotion running or just around the corner. The Gambler’s sales always go great and end up saving me 40-50% off shoes when they roll around.

Absolutely amazed!
I stumbled across this store while running errands, and because my puppy had chewed up one of my most favorite walking sandals, I wanted to replace them and decided to drop in.
The staff were warm, welcoming, and more than happy to help me find a shoe that would fit my very very specific needs, even calling other locations to have them held or brought to where I was.
They helped me size my super wide, super hard-to-fit feet, and were unflinching even in the face of my work boots being stanky as heck.
I felt very welcomed, very listened to, and almost wanted to apologize myself after all of the hoops that the staff, Katy especially, went through to help me find the exact pair of shoes that would replace my puppy-eaten walkers.
If you want great options, and staff that actually cares about making sure you get something that fits really well and works with what you need, this is a phenomenal place to stop.

Kat was extremely friendly and helpful and made buying my first pair of running shoes an enjoyable experience. I went to the other location downtown first but they didn’t have my size, the guy there made a quick call to this location and they held a pair in my size for me. I’ll be shopping here again.

Having lived in Louisville for 20 years, I've been a patron of Ken Combs'. John's is easily an equal to that reputation. Great staff of young runners ready and willing to help. Very knowledgeable and polite. Excellent selection of high quality footwear and accessories.

We went to purchase my 16 yr old some good running shoes. The man that helped us was a college student who really knew his stuff! I was incredibly impressed by his knowledge of shoes in regards to daily running verses racing. The customer service we received was something you can’t get anywhere else in this area.

Hands down the best shoe buying experience I ever had. I never know that I was selling myself short until I took a trip here for some new walking shoes before starting my new job. We discussed my needs and reviewed how my normal stride affected my shoe. We then found the perfect shoe, I never have had a shoe fit so perfectly.

I only had a few minutes to find a new pair of shoes and the young woman working was very helpful and made it happen! She was patient and swift. I also really like the brands carried for both shoes and socks! I will be a repeat customer for sure.

Being on my feet long hours, I needed comfortable work shoes. I was greeted immediately by a courteous sales lady, and explained what I needed. I was seated, my feet measured and options of shoes discussed. She was able to direct me to the pair of shoes that were perfect for my needs. A permanent customer for life!

Visited both locations today. Was at Palomar location first, very nice lady helped us. They didn't have the type of shoe I needed in my size, so she called the other location. They had what I needed, so we went there and I purchased 2 pairs of shoes. Will be recommending them to friends.

First time visiting. Fitting was quick and easy. I was able to find shoes and insoles to support my feet. The staffs experience and expertise was exactly what I needed. Two weeks later and my feet feel great. I would recommend visiting.

Podiatrist recently told me I need proper running shoes - no more memory foam sneakers from discount stores for me (caused tendonitis). The clerk at Run/Walk Shop cheerfully fitted me until I found the perfect one for my odd-shaped foot, low arches, and doc-prescribed inserts. She threw in a little free footcare education to boot, corroborating what my fitness instructor had also told me about the shin pain I was experiencing. With husband's military discount, the footwear I got was cheaper than the same ones on Amazon. Great first experience being fitted for actual running gear.
