First Turn Games

Have been going here since the grand opening. Staff is amazing, atmosphere is incredible. Something for everyone. A ton of TCG's. Board games, role playing games, table top/miniatures, pinball etc. Huge selection of about anything your inner gaming "nerd" can imagine. Wonderful for all ages.

Great place! Wife and I love the pinball games. There is so much here. Board games, RPGs, figures, and sugar free Red Bull. Friendly staff and good music.

Lots of miniatures and games - but I was there for the pinball. Seven of eight were working and they were clean and in good shape. The place was busy - had a tournament or something. I would visit again!

This place absolutely rocks! I love the atmosphere and the guy who runs the operation is just the nicest person you'll ever meet. Went there and picked up some absolutely amazing DND minis and some new dice (love their random dice bin) and am looking forward to my next visit!

I had an amazing experience buying MTG cards and getting to relearn how to play being taught by the owner himself.

Stopped by this friendly local game store while visiting Cedar Rapids. First thoughts, exceptionally clean and organized. Great stock of magic and Warhammer products. Beautifully painted WH40k armies in display cases, always a nice touch. Staff is extremely knowledgeable and courteous. Glad I stopped by, and will be back!
They also have a small collection of pinball machines, and a myriad of party/board games for sale as well (if MtG and WH40k aren’t your particular games). Would highly recommend this store.

Just sold my magic the gathering collection of +10,000 cards. Most of it was bulk but the staff was very patient with me throughout the process. They paid up to 50% on the more noteworthy cards, even including popular commons & uncommons. The person who worked with me mentioned that the store has seen people come in with 20,000 - 30,000 cards before. Overall, very satisfying experience. P.S. This store doesn't deal with Video games.

My visit was brief, if I wasn’t talking with the owner he felt like management. Was inquiring about a game and we talked prices and I was comparable to possibly better from other “local” game shops I’ve been talking with. Definitely coming back and following up.

The space itself is big. Lots of tables, cards and board games where organized and everything looked clean, no funny smells. All in all thumbs up :)

Edit : 1 year anniversary update, I visited again this time on a Sunday night just popped it to take a look. Last time I inquired about trading cards, this time I am interested in board games and painting miniatures and I looked for that here. They had a nice board game selection and some that I didn’t expect because they are old and possibly discontinued but popular among board game enthusiasts.

Painting supply wise I geeked out over miniatures they have on display painted in high quality, as far as supplies, kinda hit or miss but gave me an idea of a few items I wanted. I’ll be back in a few weeks.

Great staff, very friendly. There is always a big turn out for events of super awesome people. Other customers are very helpful and usually always willing to trade if you bring your binders. The staff is fun and great to chat with. They will give suggestions for decks if they are not slammed. It's great to have knowledgeable friendly staff that will help you out when you need it. Their prices are the cheapest in town or darn close. They go off tcgplayer for magic card traded so it's nice to know exactly what you are going to get. They have a great selection of your dream cards that you wish you could afford!!

Perfect spot for Magic the Gathering. I imagine other games too. Helpful staff, lots of events, friendly player base, large selection, very competitive prices with lots in stock.

The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The shop has a great selection of board games and magic singles. They host regular events in a friendly environment and are incredibly welcoming to newcomers who want to join the community they've created.

I was in town for a wedding and figured I’d stop by. Absolutely phenomenal store. Large stock with excellent prices. The staff was extremely pleasant to work with and the players welcomed me warmly. Definitely the standard for what an LGS should aspire to be. Although in a small town, First Turn made a big impact. Well done.

Has it's own atmosphere, the owner is very friendly. It's a game store, they have community activities throughout each month for those that haven't played before, Board Games Day; holds tournaments every Friday, and broadcasts Magic Tournaments outside of that. It's a great place for Magic players and pinball fanatics, and other board game enthusiasts. Basically a nerd's dream. You can order online.

This is THE place for MTG, warhammer, and all around a good atmosphere. They host FNM with multiple formats every week, as well as some tourneys.

Outstanding service! The gentleman who helped me was not only knowledgeable, but enthusiastic about my inquiry. The store was alive with many excited and friendly gamers, making for an almost magical atmosphere. Great prices on unique products. Highly recommended.

People are always friendly, and if you can't find what you want they will order it for you. They host special events all the time to help people find their place in the gaming community. If you're into card games, board games, tabletop rpg's, or if you don't know what any of those are and just want to play pinball, you are welcome here.

First turn is THE place for MTG (magic the gathering) in cedar rapids and pretty much linn county entirely. Amazing space for FNM and tournaments. Also the place for war hammer, dnd, and a pretty cool collection of arcade / pin ball machines.
