Our biking adventure on Going-to-the-Sun Road was absolutely incredible! The views were gorgeous at every turn, making it an unforgettable experience. We had so much fun riding our bikes and soaking in the stunning scenery.

One of the best parts was the convenience of the free shuttle buses. We were able to take our bikes up on the shuttle, which made the ride much more manageable and enjoyable. Highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a beautiful and adventurous day in nature!

We went first weekend in May and it did not disappoint. No cars! Only hikers and bikers! Absolutely the best time to go. You can't do the whole road though. We made it to the loop and I think it was open about mile past that but what we saw from there was amazing.

The most amazing drive and views! The road is very narrow in some spots and there are restrictions on length and width of your vehicle ! So many waterfalls along the way as well and 2 tunnels! Not to mention all the lakes and river! 1000% recommended

It was a beautiful, awesome place. Spectacular views. Was not able to stop at the top, it was always full, but just doing the road & using the turns outs was such a great experience
The only thing is that you have to try to get passes the day before online at 8am & they only give out so many, which makes it hard if you are traveling many miles. It would be nice if you could buy them in advance like the park ones. It would be sad to travel all that way & not get the opportunity to do the Sun Road.

Breathtaking views throughout ❤. The drive is one of a kind and different than other national parks - the open view with a feel of driving on the cliff the whole time is a unique experience on its own 👌. Scenic viewpoints, well maintained roads, and majestic 360 view of the rockies - falls, mountain peaks, lakes, creeks.

This drive is a must-see through the Glacier National Park! The best of its kind. You have to make reservations the previous day as there are only a limited number of tickets. And make sure to book the tickets as soon as they open. They sell like hot cakes!!
Yet again, the best time to start your drive on this road is sunrise or before 6 am. Traffic is the least during this time. We travelled from the east entrance to the west, however its best to drive from the west to east, as there are many convenient pull offs in that direction to enjoy the scenic beauty, which are not there in the east to west direction. Nonetheless, it's an amazing drive!!!

Awesome road! Make sure to pay the park entrance fee and secure a permit in advance. If you don’t you will be turned away at the gate. A work around if you were unsuccessful in obtaining a permit is to arrive before or after the operating hours of the gate. (Before 6am or after 3). I would encourage you to arrive as early as possible regardless of permit because many people take advantage of this and therefore there is little to no parking remaining for permit holders at the trail heads once the gates are open.

Absolutely beautiful ride on the bike up the Going-to-the-Sun Road. Except for the first 9 miles which was all under construction. Having done that road before the construction didn't bother us. Very busy, as usual, but still just gorgeous.

Going to the sun road is the main scenic drive through glacier National park. It starts from apgar visitor center and goes all the way to Saint Mary’s. The road gains a lot of elevation and scenery that you will see is breathtaking. It has beautiful waterfalls, mountains , Wild life and many more. There are scenic viewpoints where you can stop to take pictures. the road is winding. Take meds if winding roads make you sick. There is Logan pass visitor center which is also the trail head to many popular hikes in Yellowstone. You can take the red Bus if you want to avoid driving. There was a bit of construction and a stretch of unpaved road when we started but after that it was smooth. We visited late Aug. the place gets crowded very quickly . It is only open may to sep only.

The Going-to-the-Sun Road in Montana is often regarded as one of the most spectacular drives in the United States. With stunning alpine scenery, towering mountains, and pristine lakes, it offers a breathtaking experience. panoramic vistas and remarkable engineering. However, road conditions, weather, and traffic can impact the overall experience, so it's always a good idea to check current conditions and plan accordingly.

Gorgeous drive as always! Managed to get a parking spot at Logan’s Pass both ways. Hiked up to Hidden Lake - we weren’t expecting such a long hike so we were totally unprepared! Needless to say, the hike can be done with barefeet, 3 kids age 5, 3 and 4 months. No water or sunscreen - thanks to the lil waterfall for a drink!! Lol. Irresponsible parents 🙈. Make sure to get both park passes. Complicated situation.

This road doesn’t need a review, you should and must go through it if you are in GNP. Full day just to stop and go and more than a day if you want to enjoy trails, spend time at view points. Would recommend staying at campgrounds to get most of it.

Reservations required

The park rangers do check to make sure you have a reservation before entering the park. They say there is a way to enter the park if you didn't make a reservation in advance but just make one before to not deal with the headache.
The road is nice, great pull offs to see the scenery. There is a nice water fall to see along the creep up. Once you get to the loop on the road, things get terrifying with not much room from the road and hundreds of feet tumbling below you.

I would love it more if I wasn't terrified of heights! I prefer to be on the side next to the mountain instead of overlooking the scary drop! Lol but it's so beautiful!!!

Beautiful flowers and butterflies follow you everywhere. Mostly sunny until you reach the lake area. Bring bear spray.
