Being in business since 1806, it is billed as America's oldest continuously operating candy company. Known for the original old-school candies -the Gibralters and the Blackjacks- they also sell fudges, chocolates, taffies and assorted yesteryear sweets.
The space is well-organized and everything is labeled. I only bought chocolates but they were really good with lots of flavor and a silky-smooth texture. The store is across the House of the Seven Gables so you can hit both in one outing. Sweet!

Yum, candy was so good! Adorable little shop with gourmet candies. Got a small box of chocolates, along with some Easter candy, and the blackjack candy. All was very good. Wish we would have gotten more.

First time here. Came here in October on a Monday. It was so nice to easily move around without the tourist crowd. The 4 of us were Waited on very promptly by friendly staff. Great selection of different candies, chocolate and fudge. Will be back again!

We parked near the house of seven gables and found this cute candy shop by accident. They have the original Salem style candies. Definitely try the Salem gibralter (lemon and peppermint candy), which was the first America’s first commercially sold candy. It’s a hard candy with a hint of sweetness.

I thought it was worth the one-block walk up from the waterfront to stop in this sunny candy store. It is America's oldest commercial candy store(?) and the folks working there are good about sharing how they are still using a recipe or two from a few hundred years ago. We purchased all kinds of candy and everything was tasty. The shop is small but has a good flow.

This cute candy shop has something for everyone! Even the history buffs will appreciate the ~200-year-old candy jar. The staff is sweet and helpful as well.

This was a fun stop! The oldest candy store in the US! We found several items we've never seen before as well as many favorites. The turtles were featured in O Magazine so we had to try them. They did not disappoint. We also tried the gibralters. I have no idea how to explain them but for $6.95 you can try them yourself. Candy making has come a long way over the centuries but it's fun to see the past.

EXCELLENT! The candy is EXCEPTIONAL! Fudge, chocolates, truffles, turtles (my favorite) etc. Choice of dark & milk chocolate in almost all varieties. So many choices. Also, the rice cakes. AMAZING!
If you can stop in. This is what you’ll find, Patient, kind, friendly, smiley service. What a pleasure. Don’t forget to take a deep breath in and smell as you walk through the doors. Don’t miss this shoppe. Order on line. Don’t walk run!! Enjoy we did!!

My mom took me here when we were doing college visits, several decades ago, and I've been thinking about it ever since. Was in Salem for work and took the time to go by and stock up. Everything is delicious, everything is interesting, absolutely recommend asking about the candies for a free lecture

Super cool historical place AND the candies are delicious. The dark chocolate raspberry jelly truffles are amazing, the peanut brittle is really good too. Will probably come back to pick up more before my trip is over.

Quaint store with varieties of delicious chocolate, candies, fudge and other confections since 1806. Bulk chocolate at $26 per pound. When in Salem, don't miss it!

The licorice, truffles, and taffy were amazing. For a small building, the staff professionally handled the large crowds of October well.

Oh, this place is amazing! Get the chocolates! Their sea salted turtles are the greatest!
We ended up going by there one last time before leaving Salem just to grab up some extra treats for the long trip home!
