Velvet 48 Wine Bar

One of the best wine bar in town. We love their indoor seating, with comfortable lounge sofa and excellent vibe for wine tasting. They have friendly staff that gives great recommendations. We took 3 bottle home on our first impromptu visit, and are very happy and glad we did, because they also have some great wined on sale from time to time.

My husband pleasantly surprised with a visit to this elegant wine bar that serves beautiful tastings paired with chocolate and charcuterie boards. It was a perfect date night!!

This is still one of my favorite hidden gems in Burlingame. Actual real hospitality, great wines, a great vibe that's perfect for a solo glass, date night or hanging with friends. Such a great selection of coveted wines for purchase too!

This is a beautiful wine bar. It’s tucked away, and you would never know it was there until you go inside. Everyone is amicable and helpful, and they have a great wine and champagne selection and great food.

Very nice wine bar, great atmosphere, when we got there they welcomed us with a glass of rose. We ordered some wine and it was great. They have a limited food items, but what they serve is decent and good quality. They have a large collection of wines.

Lovely, and much needed, addition to the Burlingame landscape. This little wine bar offers a fun array of glasses and bottles for in-bar and take-home service, with stunning decor and a warm and friendly service experience. An especial shout out to their cheese and charcuterie combo board (the genius move of the owner's wife). Highly recommend stopping in and giving it a try or six.

We had the best Valentine's Day there, nice wine selection, delicious bites and great atmosphere.

Saw the open sign and strolled in. Were greeted in a beautiful facility with great wine flights, service and knowledge. Followed up with a few glasses. Snacks were tasty too.

Nice relaxing atmosphere and love the wine options offered. Great way to try a variety of wines and they offer a nice variety.

Each time I've visited has been really nice. The pourers are very knowledgeable and the vibe is chill and chatty. Order some snacks and kick it on the small patio out back.

Velvet 48 is a wine shop paradise in downtown Burlingame. They have a great extensive selection of exquisite wine and small bites you can explore .

Love their exceptional spicy red wine flight Bodegas Borsao Grenache-Smooth and tasty with notes of aromas and cinnamon, hint of spicy ginger , lovely soft flavors and little tannin. A must try wonderful wine to enjoy anytime .

The ambience is nice and relaxing . The interior design is chic and beautifully decorated with sparkling lights, high ceilings, and huge windows. Comfortable outdoor patio is available as well . Velvet 48 is great place to hangout or just wine down from a hectic day.

This is the establishment that downtown Burlingame needed! The ambiance is perfect to relax with a glass of wine. They have pleasant music playing in the background and somehow the acoustics of the space made it easy to converse without having to talk loud. They offered me a complimentary sparkling wine as soon as I sat down! The wine selection is huge, even though I didn't know much about particular wines, I described what I liked to the owner Jason and he ordered delicious wines for me. The staff was very friendly and the open layout, high ceilings, and seating areas are very inviting without feeling pretentious. I love outdoor seating and this place has a small outdoor patio in the back.
They offer small plates that pair well with wine. I tried one of the deserts and it hit the spot.
Downtown Burlingame finally has a wine bar and Velvet 48 nailed it.

We found this wine bar by chance when we were in Burlingame for a dinner. It was a great find: we drink wine four or five times a week and have strong opinions (not necessarily right, but strong opinions), but they were able to introduce us to new wines. They have an excellent selection and the servers are very attentive. The proprietor was circulating and we had fun conversation about the wine bar and his philosophy. The staff was very gracious about pouring a "taste". I strongly recommend a visit!

Superb. First visit last night for a pre dinner drink, and I was hugely impressed. Would heartily recommend for a) a pre game drink, b) a post game drink, or c) sharing a bottle
or 3 with a very good charcuterie and cheese with good friends.

Delightful! Popped in for a drink with friends and stayed for 4 hours (probably to the chagrin of the staff, who were all lovely and greeted is with a welcome of bubbly). The wine menu is truly an international wonder - we all had different wines and they were all fantastic. The various snacks were tasty and somehow filling enough that real dinner didn't need to happen. In particular, the charcuterie and the duck rillette with the fig jam were a stand out. I would get there early because there space is small (but airy and doesn't feel crowded).

Come here for the wine. The food is an accessory, but if you get an experienced staff member to pair the right food with the right wine, it will blow your buds off. Hint: chocolate with bold red wine. YMMV. Can't understand the bad review here. The owner is a sommelier. He's hired staff that knows their stuff. If you get someone junior who isn't knowledgeable, ask for Jason. You can learn a lot here, with the right help. This is the place to meet before and after dinner. They have EVERYTHING.

Mary Beth is new to the team and is just the best, so knowledgeable about wine and so hospitable and friendly! Great addition to the team at Velvet 48 which is most likely the best wine bar in all of the Peninsula
