Last night, my friends and I celebrated a birthday at Saffron in Burlingame. We had a reservation for four through the Resy app, and upon arrival, we were promptly seated by the friendly host. Our table was situated right under a beautiful chandelier, and the service was both amiable and efficient. After being offered water and drinks, the staff was very helpful in guiding us through the menu and making recommendations. The food we ordered was delicious, and we may have gone overboard due to our excitement. To top it off, they surprised the birthday girl with a special dessert. Overall, we had a fantastic time and look forward to our next visit.

Very nice Indian food with elegant flavors. Mangalore fried chicken was on point. Fish Moilee with coconut rice was fantastic. Kofta with Naan was also good. Highly recommend this place and would come again.

This is an upscale Indian restaurant with a lovely ambiance, excellent service, and high-quality South Indian dishes like dosas.

Food is really good. We liked Bombay sliders, dosa, and desserts a lot. Other appetizers were also good. I got jalfrezi kofta and it was good. My friends loved their butter chicken.

Edited:
Went back again and the food was again very good. Loved gulab jamun tres leches cake

Best kulfi (Indian ice cream) ever within or outside of India.
Food quality is close to delicious home cooked food with authentic taste which is rare to get in US. Everything including naan and lachha parantha were cooked to perfection.

Ordered for only one person, so I got the Masala Omelette and Garlic Naan. Food is presented well. The omelette is cooked well and has good flavor. I like that the complimentary side bread is baked with butter. The garlic naan is tasty, though it’s a bit different than the typical garlic naan I eat at other Indian restaurants. Then again, I’m not an expert on Indian cuisine.
The staff was polite and kind. We came when the restaurant was packed inside, so we sat outside, and they have heaters on already.

Of all the Indian restaurants in the Bay area, this shares the top spot (with Ettan).

The food overall was 3.5/5 but the Chutney Prawns are to die for. I'd come here again just for that. Also the Creme Brulee is really good too - it's a bread pudding which is creme brulee'd. Definitely worth a try.

Some appetizers I would recommend:
Chutney Prawns - must try!!
General Tso's Cauliflower
Bombay Sliders

The entrees did not stand out to me much except the Kerala Chicken Curry.

The extra star is for the appetizers and the great service and ambience this restaurant has. Make sure you get a reservation beforehand coz this place is always packed, even on weekdays.

Every dish is so delicious. Perfectly spiced food. Non veg and veg are equally flavorful.

Good that food is not Americanized like most fine dinings.

Best Indian restaurant in Bay area.

Food: 5/5
Just outstanding. It’s clear that they have gone to the depths of indian cuisine.
Vada pav was phenomenal. Amazing balance of different textures and overall flavours. Spicy flavorful masala with crisp and soft bun!
Corn soup was again outstanding. Thick creamy texture and awesome flavor profile.
The Saag was mindblowing. Again - great textures and well rounded flavors.
Even the rice with hints of coconut and tempered daal and the lachcha parantha felt carefully crafted.
The whiskey sour also was great. A tad bit strong but still good to have again.

Service: 5/5
Such professional and helpful servers. Our little one was being cranky so they were very accomodating.

Ambiance: 5/5
Awesome fine dining experience. Very well done interiors.

Wow! Food is delicious and presentation is great! We have four people, ordered four small dishes to share and two main courses: butter chicken, curry fish. Coconut rice and garlic bread. Everything is so good. My favorite is their appetizers and drink. Don’t miss it.

An interesting twist: Indian Street food, cooked upscale! Sure $19 for a dosa, but you are going to love the impeccable cooking, and the ghost chili chutney! The sambar was authentic. For appetizers, try the Bombay peppers, very well made. The prawns are perfect for the person who loves seafood. For dessert we ordered the cardamom bread pudding, but after trying it we wished we ordered the rose Panna cotta. Good service.

One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve ever tried.
The food did not disappoint, in fact, it was really good.
I walked in without a reservation but was immediately seated at the bar. I suggest calling for a table ahead of time because the place filled up in minutes after I got there and they also had people waiting outside as I was leaving.
For one who doesn’t consume chili all that much, the spice level was perfect, so if you’re anticipating fire in your mouth, you might want to consider asking your server for added heat. ☺
Staff were brilliant, by the way, they were all warm and friendly which one should expect from a more intimate space - and they did it just well.
Absolutely recommend!

This is one of the very few high-end Indian restaurants that I absolutely adore! They have done a brilliant job in maintaining the authenticity of the traditional indian flavors while incorporating fun fusional twists to their dishes!
My personal favorites were Amritsari Kulcha, Genovese Basil Dosa and Mango Ginger-Jito.
Definitely call ahead to reserve a table if you’re going in a group setting and expect to be assisted to their outdoor dining setting if you are a group over 4 people.

Outstanding dishes. The General tso's cauliflower, corn soup, beet berry salad, dosa, and sliders had rich and vibrant flavors. Very fast and attentive service. Patio seating was pretty, but a little loud as we were seated near some big groups. Will definitely be back.

Great ambience for an office lunch! We had great service and the staff was extremely helpful regarding portion sizes. They also accommodated half orders for appetizers based on the number of people. I particularly enjoyed the Indian railway and Bombay sliders appetizers. The main course curries particularly the kofta and dal makhani were excellent as well. The coconut rice was flavorful on its own and accompanied the curries perfectly. I also found the kulfi delicious for dessert. The one disappointment was the mango lassi. The mint on top didn't work for me and ruined the lassi. Overall, a great spot for big office lunches.

They take a good dining experience and solidify it. It's great, well-balanced Indian food with very attentive servers that make the first time really hospitable. We followed our waiter's recommendation for the entire course and were not disappointed. All the dishes tasted delicious and left us wanting more. They've definitely earned their Michelin star. It's surprisingly affordable, too!

We arrived a little early so we went to the little bar to have a drink. The bartender and 1 waitress were behind the bar and we're very friendly. After going over the menu I decided to order the "thyme me up" cocktail. The bartender made the drink right in front of us and it was eye pleasing. The taste was very good. As in excellent. The rest of our evening here was the same. The waiter was very helpful in explaining what to expect with the dishes and steering us in a direction we liked. We had 2 starters, 2 mid meals, and 1 main course. The food was absolutely delicious and the tastes and presentation were on point.
This restaurant is excellent. We will return.

Well deserving the Michelin star this location once had. Amazing food, great service and a very modern looking restaurant.

Everything we tried was just spectacular and I can't wait to go back once I'm I'm SFO. Loved the neighborhood as well, very eclectic

We actually ate indoors tonight for the first time in a long time. It felt safe, as they sat everyone far apart and asked that we keep our masks on when we weren’t eating or drinking. We ordered the delicious sliders for our appetizer. We also ordered the amazing mushroom pancakes as a side to the butter chicken as our main entree. I ordered a mango ginger ale mint non-alcoholic drink on a whim, which was absolutely delicious! It cost $10, but it’s definitely worth it. Very creative and made me feel like I was in a tropical country.

My first Michelin experience! My expectations was very high and it met them all ! The most talked about vada pav was really an absolute delight! The thought of dipping vada pav in ghee and chutney powder seemed weird only until you taste, after that your blown away by the taste. The cocktails were well made as well. We tried the veg kofta which was again out of the world!
The chicken Biryani however was not the best I have had ! Overall it’s worth the money you pay !!
