Hole in the wall. Not about service. Its cheap fish fry. Not English style but Soul Food style. Sometimes can be a little too fishy, but overall 8/10 times its OK. $10 gets you a huge portion. Recommend: flounder and fry's. If you ask for any variations they can be touchy unless you make it clear you're willing to pay for any difference. Absolutely no diet drinks here.

Ordered food from here today. Some of the best food I have had. Fried chicken is in the top 3. Sides amazing. Prices amazing were good too.

This place hit the bullseye both times I've come. Best fried catfish I've had in NJ and authentic recipes for all the sides. It's what you expect it to be if you know what it should be. And that's high praise.

No matter what you eat you wont be disappointed. All types of fish platters sides are great and so is there deserts

I enjoy eating their teriyaki, shrimp and chicken rice with vegetables. That’s what I’ve been ordering lately and I’ve been going there for a long time. Very good.

This is one of the few places left in my opinion that makes good consistent soul food. I’ve been eating here for a little bit over five years now.
My favorite dish is the turkey wings with rice gravy and collard greens! They also have ribs pork chops anything you could imagine. Service is semi-slow but the food is definitely high-quality for the price.

Their food as well as options are really good 👌🏾if you're looking for really good soul food this is the spot. I have never had a bad experience and their food is good fresh and fairly fast (worth the wait). Prices are worth it because they give an amount that you can possibly save for later. I noticed their sides are not over seasoned, which is beneficial for those who have to watch their diet (ex. Too much salt)

Amazing food, portions are more than enough especially for the prices that are more than reasonable and fast friendly service. Try the short ribs w gravy w/ mac n cheese n greens and banana pudding is definitely worth the fact you won't move for the next hour from eating too much good food🤣👌💯🤤🤤🥴I don't write reviews ever but this place is definitely worth getting the word out there how good the food is and the one in Ewing is just as good.

Always a long wait for a table on a Friday or Saturday night, but always worth the wait! The margaritas are perfectly mixed (and strong), the staff are friendly, and the carne asada enchiladas are perfectly packed with juicy meat, slightly spicy sauce, and a dash of cheese. A must have any time I am in San Francisco! Note: this place is not good for groups larger than 4 people. We tried it..we failed, miserably.

Of course, all soul food slightly varies from family to family, but as far as I can remember this is the closest another race (owned by a Chinese man) has come to perfecting the craft of soul food. Well done.

I'm not from the area but my mom was ill in the Trenton area and JC soul food was a big help to still be able to eat good! They even have sweet potato pie!!!

the place is well put together in the staff while not entirely too nice are generally accommodating and their food is pretty damn good comparatively to other places in the area.

We only order the whiting platter and a side of mac and cheese. It is always excellent - very fresh and flavorful.
