We have been a patron of Saffron from when they opened. We are very picky about our Indian cuisine (although we are not Indian by descent) - we just very much enjoy authentic Indian food and Saffron checks all of the boxes. We have eaten a variety of their appetizers and entrees - both vegan and non vegan. Our favorite entrees are Chicken Tikka Masala, Chana Masala, and Chana Saag. We enjoy the nice touch of complimentary papadoms and dipping sauces. The service is impeccable, attentive, and non overwhelming - they will give you ordering advice if you are not familiar with Indian cuisine. They will also vary the degree of spice upon your request - in fact when ordering, they will even ask you what spice level you prefer. Their Naan breads are fresh baked and fluffy. Their rice is always tasty. Their desserts are always sweet and satisfying. The atmosphere is casual, quiet, and classy. We also have tried their mango lassy which was yummy. When we have a craving and do not have the time to sit, we will order take-out which we have done numerous times and it has been a great experience.

Note to the owner/chef - I am the guy who likes to sit by the window with his daughter.

We dined at Saffron tonight for the first time tonight. Nice setting on E Main St. in downtown Freehold. Parking is behind in a city lot with metered parking. It is a BYOB establishment, but there is conveniently a liquor store across the street. As you enter it is a nice atmosphere we were greeted quickly and offered a nice seat at a window. They brought papada and sauces to the table and took our order, offering help with some questions. They have many gluten-free offerings noted on the menu. In fact, most dishes are GF.
For appetiser, we got Ragda Patties. Crispy potatoes and chick peas in a delicious sauce. Very flavourful.
For dinner, we shared 3 dishes planning to have plenty for leftovers.
We ordered Baingan Bharta (grilled eggplant), Saag Lamb, and Chiken Tikka Masala with a side dish of Naan. The dishes also came with 2 dishes of white rice.
The 3 dishes all complimented each other and were very colorful on our plates.
As we expected, there were plenty of leftovers that we packed up in provided containers.
Overall, it was a nice experience with tasty food, and we plan to go back again.

The food here is excellent. My boyfriend and I went here after we saw a movie and ordered their palak paneer, malai kofta and Kashmiri naan. Everyone was extremely attentive and very sweet. We will definitely come back again. Thank you so much!

Our first time at Saffron and it was a beautiful, relaxing and delectable experience. The ambiance was delightful, the staff was attentive and informative, and the appetizer and main meals were absolutely delicious. We had the crispy cauliflower as an appetizer, I had the shrimp biryani, and my husband had the tiki masala, all with a side of garlic naan. Each one equally delicious. Highly recommend.

We visited the restaurant and the food was beyond amazing! It was delicious! The chicken seekh kebab was the best! A must try! And their ragda patties and dahi bhalla were amazing! Their Malai Kofta and chicken 65 were delicious and their service was warm. I would revisit it for sure!

Absolute 5/5. Its a new restaurant and they are trying their best to offer the best customer service
Ambience, food and service exceptional.
Danny and Shawn were very accommodating and helpful. The lady ( apologies forgot her name) kept checking up on all customers.
Highly recommend this place, give it a try. We always love to support and promote new businesses. Hopefully they maintain this over time, unlike their neighbor Aarzu now is over hyped and doesn’t care enough for its customers.

Went there Again!!
Saffron is the new restaurant on the block, we went there last week and could not resist to go again this week.
decor is clean and nice. but their hospitality is just Amazing. Chef Mohammad is super skilled and a warm person with a infectious smile on his face. We happened to get into a conversation with him where he asked us what we would like to eat, his team also tries to understand your taste to recommend.
they are in Beta version before the launch.
we tried their chicken seekh kabab, lamb chops, tandoori salmon, kadhai chicken, saag chicken, butter chicken & tandoori Rotis.
For appetizers:
Chicken Seekh kababs freshly made tender, with right spices and finely chopped onions win the mix gives the required flavor to the tender kababs. good part about the cooking is that Chef can tune up the heat as per ones liking and tastebuds.
Lamb Chops: delicious mouth melting and right seasoned chops served on sizzler plate. just amazing. This one is better than any other lamb chops in the town. I have had at multiple others in their neighborhood and within 25 miles of freehold.
Tandoori Salmon: nice sized salmon pieces very well marinated as you get the flavors all the way through your bite. not an easy dish to make in the Tandoor (Clay oven) but Chef Mohammad has the art of making this right.
Main Course:
Kadhai chicken: gravy has good consistency with flavors bursting in the mouth with every bite.
they have a heat scale of 1-10 average dishes are at 3-4, basis your liking you could scale up or down. base scale is pretty mild.
Saag Chicken: Very nice consistency of the saag (Spinach), chef took note of our request to make the dish lighter avoiding heavy cream, and trust me the dis tasted soo delicious, i have eaten versions with cream and they taste great too.
butter chicken was also well done and very flavorful.
this is one of the few Indian Restaurant's I have been to in the US who are balancing the flavors right, keeping the dishes also light unlike most of them who use a lot of heat (chillis) and heavier fats and oils to get the flavors pop.
Saffron is on my regular GO TO list now!!

Great taste and friendly atmosphere. Professionalism at its best, that's how I felt by the staffs interaction and service they provided. Very kids friendly, our kids made a big mess in the table, and they didn't even show any unpleasant feelings. They gave great suggestions as well with the dishes. I strongly recommend everyone to try the tandoori salmon. It was delicious. The place was very clean, and the ambiance with light music in the background was very pleasant. Thank you for your professionalism and service.

Amazing food and service at the Saffron! Such a good location and atmosphere- the staff really went above and beyond. We came for lunch and ordered two apps and one entree, all exceeding expectations. We got the Ragda Patties, Chicken Seekh Kabobs, and Chicken Tikka Masala (and a side of Garlic Naan!). We loved the the Ragda Patties, a mix of amazing flavors. And the chicken was so tender and spice PACKED! And of course, you can never go wrong with a side of Garlic Naan. We left with happy stomachs and definitely will be back soon!

My friends and I just had the BEST experience here! The food was absolutely the best of the best that we’ve had in New Jersey by far. We each got something different, and each dish was absolutely sensational. We really loved every single thing they brought out. Mohammed was an incredibly attentive and generous host. We will DEFINITELY be back, and our friends who brought us here come all the time! You won’t be disappointed!

This place has some of the best lunch buffet options I've run across in an Indian restaurant. At one point you could have gone to Indian lunch buffet at three different places in downtown Freehold, but I'm happy with this bring the only one right now because it's all I need. Quality is good, food is delicious, staff are friendly, everything is clean.

Absolutely delightful Sunday lunch! The variety of flavors and dishes offered were outstanding. Each item was expertly spiced, and the freshness of ingredients stood out especially because we got there closer to the end of their lunch time. The staff was super attentive and kind to our 3 year old who ate everything off her plate. A definite 5-star recommendation!

Such a wonderful experience! The portions are deceiving - it is so much food! Everything was delicious and they are SO accommodating with food allergies or dietary restrictions. The owner and staff were incredibly kind and friendly. The atmosphere is chic yet comfortable. The prices were also super reasonable for how much food you get. I highly recommend!

We stumbled upon this place by accident tonight after finding out the restaurant we intended on going to was closed. What a treat! We really enjoyed this place. We found out they are in the midst of their soft opening—you would never know because the staff was excellent! It was my mother’s first time eating at an Indian restaurant and our waiter was so helpful in helping us choose dishes. Also, I am gluten free and there were a TON of gluten free (and vegan!!) options to choose from. ALWAYS a huge win for me!! We’ll definitely be returning to try the other items on the menu. Delicious, friendly, and affordable!

This place was SO good. I came here with a friend and we loved everything we ordered. We got that ragda patties to start, and the potatoes were the perfect blend of crispy exterior with fluffy interior, topped with exquisite chutney sauce. We so got tandoori chicken which was a punch of flavor in the best way possible. The entree was saag lamb which was also just cooked to perfection. Highly recommend and probably my favorite Indian place in NJ!

my fiancé and I were seated and the waiter was friendly, we ordered the butter chicken, garlic naan, and veg samosas. The waiter was nice but they might be new in the food service industry as we weren’t offered refills and waited a while to order and to get the bill.
The butter chicken was good 7/10 my fiancé believed it needed a little more flavor
garlic naan was my absolute favorite as it had garlic pieces and it was flavorful and my fiancé enjoyed it as well. 10/10
the samosas were big and they were delicious, it has a spicy kick to it but nothing too bad 7/10
The menu mentions that it holds coke products but when asked the waiter told us they hold Pepsi products. The drink came out and tasted like Pepsi but on the bill it also was put in as a coke… very confusing. I do wish the best for this restaurant , and it’s significantly affordable compared to Aarzu, this is a new gem at Freehold.
now for my fiancés review: Food was great. It was a nice atmosphere as well. Service was a bit awkward at times but overall good. Surprisingly empty. Chef didn’t ask us how the food was
