REI Bike Shop

Have been taking my bikes here for years. Through staff turnover, they have consistently done good work and fit componentry to my needs. Most recent tune-up was excellent, with great attention to detail and some nice finishing touches. The bike was an absolute joy to ride afterwards

They have great tents and a wide selection of backpacking gear. high quality clothes/gear perfect for every outdoor activity.

Got my front rim brakes adjusted on the spot in <20 minutes.

The staffs were friendly and helpful.

Was looking for a roof bike rack and they tried to help. Granted I was looking for something very specific for my 2006 Impreza. They had told me to come back on the weekend when there was more staff and more managers. I will continue to shop at REI, because it’s a good store however, I had to have managers approval to exchange a new innertube for a new innertube because it was more than one year old. they said it was a one time thing like it was a big favor to me. I felt like I was trying to rip them off, which I was not of course . I unfortunately bought a Schrader one. I wanted a presta my fault.
That’s their policy. Which I understand however, I was not attempting to give them a used product for a new product. A little bit of a hassle , not the REI that I joined 30 years ago. It’s a corporation not a co-op technically yes still a co-op. These are not complaints just observations.

On 07/28/2023 The back inner tube of my ebike caught a flat mid ride but felt relieved when I checked Google maps and this location was near. Welcoming service but it was unfortunate that they only work on ebikes made by specific manufacturers. They then recommended Trek to replace the inner tube.

Came to look at hiking boots. Had to go through a sales person to actually try anything on. Waiting 30 minutes to be told they did not have any of the several things I wanted to try on in stock. Complete waste of time.

I called looking for an empty cardboard bike box to use for shipping. These are trash for bikes shops and cost money to dispose of. REI wanted to charge me $25 for their trash. I have collected these for free at least 10 times over 30 years from bike shops around the world.
