The TAJ - Indian Restaurant

We enjoyed our dinner experience. We ordered Chicken Tika Masala and Bombay Chicken with basmati rice and naan - it was delicious! The Chai tea was tasty, and our server was prompt and friendly.

Absolutely delicious, great spice, great flavour, 10/10.
Great portions, you will have leftovers for a great price.
Restaurant is clean and has a great vibe.
Best Indian food in Cedar.

Being from India, I was looking for Indian food in Cedar City and found this place. It has amazing food with authentic flavours and the atmosphere and staff is amazing. It’s a great place to hangout with friends and family and enjoy good food. The food is totally worth the prices.

We've eaten here a couple dozen times and never have been disappointed.
I'm pretty serious we've tried everything on the menu!

I have really enjoyed the Chana Masala, the Vegetable Korma and the Murgh Palak. My favorites are currently the Chicken Korma and Chicken Tikka Masala, but my favorites change!

The exterior of the building has gone through a major upgrade since the previous restaurant occupied this space, they've taken out the stucco wall that closed off the front of the restaurant from the outside, and the inside remodel was even more spectacular with lots of open space and natural lightning. Excellent atmosphere!

Great servers and authentic cuisine.
No long waits and the food was prepared quickly.

Chicken masala was a favorite and the chili tofu was great. We will be going again.

Not the cheapest food, but a higher end dining place for Cedar.

Absolutely delicious. The owner, who served us, basically gave us recommendations and they were awesome. The naan was also delicious. Loved the chicken tikka. I do think it is a little bit pricier than what I’ve typically eaten for Indian food.

We had a pleasure of visiting The Taj which is run by a lovely Indian couple. The ambiance here is calm and cozy. We ordered chana masala, rice and garlic naaan and it was delicious. Despite the challenges faced by the owners in this area, such as staff shortages, they managed to deliver an exceptional dining experience that exceeded all expectations. Their passion for culinary experience shines through despite any obstacles. Highly recommended !!! :)

I've tried Indian food at lots of places in the US. But here after a long time, I have the satisfaction of eating GENUINE Indian food with the right delicacy and aroma. Staff is courteous
but a little shy on Indian cuisine terminology. Overall, hearty compliments to owners and chef.

It was an amazing find of an Indian restaurant out of nowhere! We had waited there for almost 20 mins for them to open. But the owner (I think) said that we could have waited in the lobby instead of outside in a parking lot. The food was delicious and so was their service. Most people flock there which was unexpected for the love of Indian food in the Non-indian community! Ambience is perfect and a must visit!

We were exhausted after extensive hike in Bryce Canyon, had been eating cold sandwiches and basically missed home. The Taj was godsend ! Perfect chai , naans and fresh dal makhani and butter masala .. the chef was really friendly and basically reminded us of our relatives back home in India .

The Taj is the bomb! It’s our go to restaurant when we go out to eat. You won’t be disappointed if you eat here. I love the Murgh Palak, but I change it up all the time and my husband always gets the Chicken Korma. It’s seriously delicious! The picture was toward the end of our meal so it’s almost gone!

Our lunch was so delicious. Vegetable korma was great, the madras lamb was fantastic, and the veggie samosas were awesome. We look forward to eating here again!

Love the ambiance & the food was delicious. Owners were super nice & courteous. One of the bests meals I had in USA. A must visit indian restaurant if you’re traveling from vegas, Bryce Canyon or the area around here.

Amazing food! The naans especially were the best we have had in U.S. The service and vibe was nice too! Will definitely come back for some comforting Indian food while hiking around Utah!

One suggestion would be to put up the restaurant's board in a more visible area- like at the entrance of that complex or in front of the restaurant. It took us some time to figure out that that building was the restaurant as we did not see any board around it.

The Taj is an awesome Indian Restaurant. Amazing food. I had Paneer butter masala, Dal makhani and naan. All of these dishes were delicious and the portion size was super generous. Chef Mr. Vijay was super friendly as well. Will definitely come back for awesome Indian food while in Utah. Must go to place for Indian food.

The food was delicious. I was confused as to why it was so slow on a Saturday night. I’ve just recently had AUTHENTIC Indian food, and this restaurant was an amazing contender. The level of spice in my dish was perfect. It was overall very tasty, and I’ll definitely be back while driving through Cedar City. THANK YOU!

Added 4/27/22: Alas, the stellar lunch buffet is no more! Instead, they offer a menu of lunch plates with set sides/salads. The array of salad and fruit sides which I found so impressive was replaced with a salad containing nothing I could eat - half its volume was raw onions. The entrées are just as tasty as before, but I missed being able to sample a few bites of each so I'd know what to order the next time we came for dinner. Sadly, we won't be back for lunch; Taj has moved into the "pricy, dinner-only" category of my restaurant list.

Original review: We just learned this excellent Indian restaurant is now open for lunch, with a buffet service only. (There is a full menu in the evening.) The spread of entrées on the buffet was impressive, with both vegetarian and chicken choices, and Naan bread and cumin rice for starches. A salad/fruit bar made it easy to load a balanced meal on my plate. Although a "refill as desired" policy did pose a challenge to my diet, it was a simple matter to refill with salad and fruit to make sure I got value for the mid-range lunch price.

I had a really nice time here. I decided to stop in for something different, and I'm glad I did. The waiter was very courteous, and it was nice to have Indian food for a change. I was having a bad day when I went in, and eating here made it a little better.

Quantity is also Enough for 2 people fully

Unfortunately,
They don't have Hyderabad chicken dum biryani
If they have that we only order every time from here

Beautiful food, the best naan we’ve ever eaten. Excellent service, our waiter was friendly, courteous and attentive. The food was incredibly delicious! We’re from Salt Lake City. The next time we come through Cedar City, we will definitely eat there again.
