Beautiful bridge, restored in 2015. Originally built in 1877. Can no longer drive thru, but there is plenty of parking.

This is a really old bridge that has been restored. You can't drive across it, but there is a small parking area on the east side. The signs are very informative and the area is well kept. It is a little out of the way, but worth the stop.

This was a really cool stop! I was recently turned on to how many covered bridges were in Ohio. This was a surprise find. It is one of 6 in Green County, Ohio and they are all relatively close to eachother!

Quaint covered bridge off on country road. You can't drive across it but there's a very small parking area on the side of the road for maybe 2 cars.

"Built in 1877 and spanning approximately ninety-five feet, the Stevenson Road Covered Bridge carried vehicular traffic until 2003. It is one of a few Smith Truss bridges left in the United States. The Smith Bridge Company manufactured the bridge using various patents of the Company, which were secured by its founder, Robert W. Smith. The Company originated in Tippecanoe City, Ohio (Tipp City) and later relocated to Toledo. In 1890 the Toledo Bridge Company purchased the company from Smith. Robert Smith died in 1898 at the age of sixty-five, leaving behind a legacy of unique covered bridges. (Stevenson Road Covered Bridge Sign posted by the Greene County Engineer and the Ohio History Connection in 2015 at the Bridge site)."
"Stevenson Road Covered Bridge. This Bridge was built in 1877 and restored in 2015 by the Righter Company, using money from the Federal Covered Bridge Restoration Act and local funds. This is a 95-foot, clear span Smith truss bridge. A Smith truss is a diagonal arrangement of the truss web members using top and bottom chords with not just one member, but two, three or more as needed to build longer spans and support heavier loads. The diagonals are sandwiched between the chords and bolted. The floor beams rest on top of the bottom chord. The Smith Truss was invented by Robert Smith in what is now Tipp City, Ohio. The covered bridge was closed to vehicle traffic in 2003 and the road was rerouted in 2004.
The road was named for James Stevenson, who donated land for a church and cemetery nearby on Jones Road. It spans Massies Creek, named for Nathaniel Massie, an early Ohio surveyor. Brothers James and John Stevenson came to this area and settled in 1797. James Stevenson's wife Ann, was a Galloway, niece of James Galloway. (Historical Plaque at the Stevenson Road Covered Bridge site)."

Built in 1877. Covered Bridges are a part of Green County's Past. We appreciate them today as a part of times past.
