We had our wedding at JRF in May, 2024 and can't speak highly enough about how wonderful it was. Throughout our planning process, Laura offered so much support and insight to make sure our day was what we wanted and ran smoothly. During the wedding weekend, we had some weather concerns but Laura and Charlie helped manage it with grace and made for the perfect weekend-on top of being flexible with dropping items off throughout the weekend. The venue is gorgeous (and makes more amazing pictures), but the support and dedication from Laura and Charlie is truly what sets it apart!

Josias River Farm was an absolute dream. We married here this past August and it was everything we could have asked for and more. It is the perfect place for an intimate wedding, which is exactly what we wanted. It's the perfect place for bigger ones too, which we considered after first touring but ultimate stuck to an intimate one. We wanted a small, close family, intimate wedding experience and this was difficult to find as most wedding venues cater to larger weddings. Laura and Charlie were incredible. From the first tour with Laura, we knew this is where we wanted to get married. It's absolutely beautiful with the garden, the charming barn, and flowers everywhere. It was perfect. Laura was great because as we wanted an intimate wedding, she never made us feel like that was weird or something to be overlooked. She made us feel just as important even though we wanted something small. She is very responsive and answered all questions and requests we had along the way. She even let us come over last minute about a month before our wedding to walk around and make sure we had everything we would want.

We have had only positive feedback from our family who were there. They loved the venue. They loved how intimate our wedding was and I truly believe the setting made all the difference.

We can't thank Laura and Charlie enough for everything did to support us in having one of the best days!!

We both had wanted to find a location that offered a beautiful garden atmosphere with a rustic barn for the added flare. We had done many searches online and found Josias River Farm online with other wedding venue options and did our outreach to schedule an appointment. Laura quickly responded to our request and set up a date almost immediately though we knew the next available date was in 2025. We decided to at least check it out. We met Laura and Charles who were nothing less than professional and personal. They are just great people to work with for your wedding plans.

The combination of a picturesque garden and a rustic barn creates a charming and romantic atmosphere and quickly checked off all our ‘must have’ boxes. A venue that would allow us to hold a garden party wedding, for a possible outdoor event with the rustic appeal of a barn and was close to accommodations and easy to travel for our out-of-state guests. The natural surroundings and scenic views were stunning, and we could see us standing right by the formal gardens saying “I do.”

The barn offered a rustic charm adding a unique touch to the overall ambiance of an intimate space. They already provided lighting and draping around the barn. You can decorate it according to your style, whether you prefer a more elegant or a more rustic theme.

Laura and Charles were easy to work with and they were immediately receptive to our needs, which made the entire planning process easier. They had a last-minute change in the schedule which offered us a date only 45 days out, which was a bit daunting, but Laura and Charles were so supportive. They had a list of vendors and offered plenty of suggestions to help us plan out the weekend.

Due to the weather, we ended up having to move our entire weekend into the barn, which was ultimately the best intimate wedding weekend ever. Laura and Charles were available multiple times for us to visit and revisit the site to walk through all the details. It was just perfect.

The space offered the perfect setting for our Friends/Family dinner of 30 on Friday, the wedding and reception of 75 on Saturday, and the Family Dinner of 17 that night.

Josias River Farm is perfection in its own organic beauty. My husband and I knew from the moment we stepped onto the property, it was the one. The gardens are timeless, and the barn is stunning and spacious. Laura was incredible throughout the entire process. Her willingness to help along with her knowledge and creative insight went above and beyond.

JRF was our picture perfect wedding venue. Laura was so helpful and kind leading up to the wedding with our endless questions and gives advice and insight to make sure things go smoothly. The wedding weekend was low stress with having access to the venue for the full weekend and on the day of, Laura and Charlie helped out more than we could have asked for with some last minute changes due to rain! Highly recommend!

Where do we even begin? Josias River Farm exceeded every one of our wildest dreams! The grounds, the gardens, and the barn are miraculously kept by the absolute sweetest owners, Laura and Charlie. They made us feel so welcomed and special, like we were the only couple they were working with. Laura was so responsive as our millions of questions came up during planning and really helped give us a platform to make our vision come to life. JRF really gives you the freedom to make the day your own. Our day couldn’t have been more perfect or more us. I can’t even begin to tell you how many guests went out of their way to share that JRF was the most gorgeous wedding venue they’ve been to. It’s such a testament to the care and hard work Laura and Charlie put into it. By the end of our wedding weekend, Laura and Charlie felt more like family! They even stayed in touch to give us recommendations on our honeymoon. If we could get married again, we would choose Josias River Farm over and over again.

Josias River Farm is the PERFECT venue for your wedding day. Our guests raved about the beauty of the venue, and how well kept the property and gardens are. We are so thankful for Laura (venue owner) that answered every question through the planning process very quickly, and was very helpful day of! We even have some of our wedding guests planning their wedding that are inquiring about the venue because everyone loved Josias! Thank you again!

When my husband and I saw Josias River Farm we instantly knew this was where we would have our very special day. The grounds are beautifully kept with flowers everywhere, the barn (where we choose to get married) has the perfect rustic charm. Everything about this venue was the perfect setting for a wedding. So many options of where to have your ceremony.
Not only was the venue perfect but the owners who run it, Laura and Charlie, are some of the nicest people I have met. Not only were they great people but they were so on top of responding back to every one of my questions. They allowed us to walk around the grounds a couple of times to make sure we had all our plans in order. Always gave great suggestions as well. Wonderful hosts on the day of the wedding too! Overall our experience was a 10 out of 10.

WEDDING OF OUR DREAMS!

This was the only venue that my husband, Tim, and I toured and we fell in love with it the minute we stepped on the property and had a tour with Laura. Even when it was the middle of winter! Laura and Charlie were both so welcoming and treated us like we were their own family.

Laura was available every step of the way and responded to any of my questions the same day I asked them. She handled coordinating with our vendors without me having to lift a finger.

On the weekend of our wedding, she and Charlie worked so hard on making sure the property looked pristine! They worked with us to make sure everything was set up just the way we wanted it to be. Our guests had nothing but nice words to say about how beautiful everything was and they still come up to us to talk about how wonderful the wedding was.

We cannot wait to come back and visit to reminisce on our wonderful weekend at Josias River Farm! Thank you so much Laura and Charlie for being such wonderful hosts.

Laura and Charlie were simply amazing! The process was incredibly smooth from start to finish. As soon as we stepped onto the property and met them, we knew this was the right venue for us. They had plenty of recommendations for other vendors that we needed, which made us feel like we had the best in the business in our corner all working together as a team. Getting to enjoy the celebrations all weekend long was absolutely amazing, and our guests continue to remark about how beautiful the grounds and barn were. They make you feel supported and welcome every step of the way. Laura is organized, kind, warm, and was always there to answer every single one of my many questions. Charlie is friendly, funny, and loves to see families come together in support during the wedding. Our wedding exceeded every expectation that I had and was truly the best weekend of our lives. Josias River Farm is a hidden gem for southern Maine weddings. This venue is absolutely stunning, from the immaculately kept gardens to the magical rustic barn, we had the most perfect day here. The owners Laura and Charlie made us feel like family because they were so incredibly welcoming from start to finish. If you are looking for an enchanting venue that's tucked away from the nearby hustle and bustle, this is the place. Do not hesitate to take a tour and book this venue!

Laura and Charlie were incredible hosts. The farm is stunning and we couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. The property has so many amazing elements, including the barn and the gardens. Laura and Charlie were attentive to all aspects and made this an absolutely lovely day.

I can not recommend Josias River Farm enough. I got married here 10/16/2021 and it was the most beautiful venue I’ve been to. Laura was so nice and helpful and made my experience amazing. We were able to do our rehearsal dinner, wedding, and post wedding brunch there and it was just simply perfect. I was able get ready there as well and the natural light made my photos amazing. There is so many different spots for photos and my
Guests still talk about how beautiful the venue is. I highly recommend this place! We loved everything about it and Laura was amazing!

tl;dr - If you're thinking about booking this venue, go for it. If you know someone who has, anticipate a wonderful experience.

Writing a review for such a place feels somewhat unnecessary as its charm speaks volumes. The venue is picturesque; boasting gardens, a barn, wagons to serve food from, a fire pit (!), and all the trappings of a New England wedding.

What truly distinguishes this venue are Laura and Charlie. Weddings have a lot of moving parts, and, for many of us, we haven't done anything like this before. For example, my wife and I did all of our planning from Japan. The 13-hour time difference was expected to be a rather big challenge, Laura's efficient communication made it feel as though we were coordinating with someone nearby. She also excelled in connecting us with other vendors when asked and providing sagely advice when needed.

BEAUTIFUL VENUE!

My husband and I chose Josias River Farm for our wedding in June of 2022, and we could not have asked for a more beautiful place to get married. Laura and Charlie do an AMAZING job on the grounds. There is always something in bloom. We had our ceremony in the garden and our reception in the barn! It was perfect! HIGHLY recommend.

Josias River Farm is an absolutely gem of a wedding venue! My (now) wife and I looked at several options in Southern Maine, NH and Vermont, and Josias River Farm was far and away the best fit. The combination of ample outdoor space, a beautiful barn, proximity to great attractions, and affordability made it a no brained. The owners, Laura and Charles, and the nicest people you will meet — very flexible, communicative, and helpful. We rescheduled our wedding due to the COVID-19 pandemic and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. The wedding itself was a blast and our guests were blown away by how gorgeous the property is. I can’t recommend this venue more highly.

Where do I start? From the day that we booked in March 2021, Laura was so communicative and supportive. She answered every question I had, and checked in regularly over the year and a half we were planning. She made us feel so special, and like our day really, really mattered to them. When it came time for our wedding, Laura and Charlie welcomed us as their guests for the entire weekend. They were so kind and accommodating, going above and beyond to make sure that everything went perfectly. We were so confident in their support that we barely thought about logistics on the day of, despite not having a wedding planner.

The property is absolutely stunning. It's the perfect balance of rustic structures and natural beauty, the barn and farmhouse situated perfectly among the lush greenery, gorgeous flowers, tall trees, and rushing river. The beauty of the setting definitely took some pressure off of us when it came to decor, and our guests couldn't stop talking about how dreamy it was.

The layout of the venue offers a ton of options for your day, depending on what kind of flow you want. We had our ceremony in the orchard, our cocktail hour in the garden, dinner on the lawn, and dancing in the barn. I've never been to a venue that offers so many options for how each part of your day can flow into another. Laura really wanted to help us customize our experience, and was always on hand to offer ideas and advice.

All in all, we had the most perfect wedding day ever, and we wouldn't have been able to do it without Laura and Charlie at JRF. Thank you SO SO much for everything, we will remember our experience at JRF for a lifetime.

I had an opportunity to work an event here and it was amazing! The grounds are breathtaking and the owners are very warm and welcoming! It felt like home. I absolutely recommend this venue over and over again!
